What is new CBCS system in IET DAVV?

SS
Sanya Shah Posted On : March 17th, 2021
BE Computer Science Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2019)

From the year 2015, a new CBCS system i.e.Choice Based Credit System has been introduced in IET DAVV. This system has brought a remarkable change in academics, especially in the grading system. With the introduction of the CBCS system, students are now allotted alphabetical grades instead of numerical marks on their performance in the exam.

With the implementation of the CBCS system, the management has also modified and updated various courses and syllabus. In the CBCS system, the final marks are calculated on the basis of two scores. 40% from mid sem test and 50% from the final exam score constitute to become the final marks. This system has reduced the stress on performing in a single final exam. The only downside that this system has is that you have to appear in two mid sem compulsorily to score in the final exam. Overall, the CBCS system is way better than the previous system. Rest everything depends on how you perform in the exam.

Can I transfer colleges from JEC Jabalpur to IET-DAVV?

RS
Ratna Singh Posted On : March 5th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV

Most of the colleges have a transfer policy. IET-DAVV, Indore is one among such colleges. In IET, fortunately, admission is allowed in the second year of engineering. The only two conditions are as follows.

  • IET should have vacant seats.
  • The candidate has successfully cleared the first year of B.E. with passing marks in all the subjects as per the passing criteria of the previous college, i.e., JEC Jabalpur.

There are chances that the transfer applications are piled-up more than the available number of seats. If this is the case, the transfer depends upon the merit of marks obtained in the first year.

You should contact IET and enquire about the conditions for student transfer. Sometimes reputed institutes do not accept a transfer from lesser-known institutes. For example, IITs do not take a transfer from a state university. So, do your research.

Which is better, IP at SGSITS or EI at IET-DAVV?

SR
Sudesna Roy Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Telecommunications at IET DAVV (2018)

I have a few friends at both SGSITS and IET-DAVV. Based on what I heard about the institutes through them, I will say there is no comparison between IP at SGSITS and IET-DAVV. EI is superior as a branch. It has better placements, scopes, and curriculum.

EI stands for Electronics and Instrumentation. It is similar to Electronics and Telecommunication (ETC) and also has a similar syllabus with 4-5 different subjects. While IP, i.e. Industrial Production is a sub-branch of Mechanical Engineering.

According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at SGSITS and IET DAVV are 5.2 LPA and 6 LPA.

If you don’t have any particular interest in a branch, then choosing EI will be better. EI offers better future prospects.

Which is better, ET in IET DAVV or electrical in SGSITS?

AV

B.E. (Mechanical Engg.) Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (2018)

The electronics branch in engineering is not doing that well in our country. If you are not from a well-established and old IIT, there aren’t that many placement options anymore.

As far as IET DAVV is concerned, you will probably get an average placement at Wipro for INR 3 lakhs per annum after doing so much hard work for four years. My advice to you would be to choose SGSITS for electrical engineering. You can expect placements in many core companies with great campus life and a healthy competitive environment.

In the future, if you are planning to appear for competitive exams like GATE, CAT, UPSC, etc. GSITS performs very well just like its placements.

What should I choose, IIIT Nagpur CSE or IET DAVV Indore IT?

HP
Harsh Patel Posted On : July 2nd, 2021
B.E. Information Technology, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2017)

You should definitely choose CSE at IIIT Nagpur over IT at IET DAVV. There are many compelling reasons for choosing IET DAVV over IIIT Nagpur some of which are given below.

  • IET DAVV was established way before IIIT Nagpur. IIIT N is a fairly new institute with its first batch passing out in 2020. So industry connections are obviously better at IET.
  • Being the older institute it obviously has a better and larger alumni base.
  • It also has a lower fee compared to IIIT Nagpur.
  • The institute also has a permanent campus while IIIT Nagpur is currently operating from the temporary campus of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s Regional Telecom Training Center.

Placement data:

Institute

IIIT Nagpur

IET DAVV

Highest salary

INR 20 LPA

INR 20 LPA

Average salary

INR 7.7 LPA

INR 6 LPA

Percentage placed

73.17%

70%

Thus in the long run IET will be better for your career.

Should I join IET DAVV or SGSITS for the CS branch?

DJ
Diksha Jain Posted On : June 29th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (2017)

If you are looking forward to studying the CS branch, any college among the two can be the winner. It doesn’t make much difference because both of them are of the same league. But, SGSITS is slightly better.

Reasons:

  • SGSITS is the best in terms of campus placement. It has a record of almost 100% placements every year. Especially for CSE and IT, the graph of packages has been increasing every year.
  • The institute conducts various events and competitions to upscale the students.
  • It has the best coding environment.

Overall, the institute is a little strict for the CS branch but is the best choice.

The answer to this question lies in the option between the choice of branch and college, and which one you will give preference to.

  • You should first know where your interest lies and which branch is your preference.
  • Choosing a branch is more important than choosing a college.
  • This is a very important aspect as you will be learning that subject for the next four years and your career will depend on it.
  • Once you are clear about the interest, you do not have to compare colleges.

Which is the better option, ET in IET DAVV or CSE in JEC?

AS
Angad Singh Posted On : July 13th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

A few of my friends graduated from both IET DAVV and JEC. They say that the choice mostly varies according to your interests and the plans you have for your future.

  • If you are planning for GATE then ET will not be a good choice. But if you are thinking of campus placements then IET has better records of placements than JEC.
  • There is no more chance of growth in ET compared to CS. You will get better placements with CSE but for exposure and environment, IET is the better one.
  • You will find good seniors and quite a supportive faculty.
  • Talking of the colleges’ locations, Indore is better than Jabalpur not only fits your plans but also an important parameter while choosing a college.
Categories ET in IET DAVV CSE in JEC
Course Fee 2.74 lakh 22,300 (1st year)
Highest CTC 20 LPA 7-9 LPA
Average CTC 6 LPA 3.5 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Phillips, Tech Mahindra, Mu Sigma, etc. Wipro, Persistence, Capgemini, Infosys, etc.

Finally, IET is a better college compared to JEC but the ET course at IET is mediocre while the CS branch has a great scope. However, the final decision is up to you. Choose wisely.
