I've been selected for the Young India Fellowship as well as for IIM Ranchi. Which one should I choose?
YIF and IIM Ranchi are both very different yet equally good.
YIF is more like a social learning program that includes diverse topics such as Economics, Shakespeare, Art, and Group Dynamics. You develop a comprehensive understanding of the social problems around you. I have seen many friends forgoing the offers from top B Schools just for this program.
The programs offered at IIM Ranchi on the other hand will give you an insight into the corporate world. As you can see both options are extremely different in their essence. So choose wisely looking at the big picture.
Is it better to be a topper in the new IIMs (Tricky, Ranchi, Rohtak, Udaipur, Raipur, Kashipur) than being an average student at IIM A,B, or C?
One cannot really compare the enriched experience and worth of old IIMs to the newer ones. No matter how high grades you score in the older IIMs, they can never be at par even with the average marks of an old IIM student. Their skills, knowledge, and confidence are at another level. Older IIMs help you achieve bigger goals and earn much more. So it’s better if you are an average student at an old IIM than a topper at a new IIM.
Are placements at IIM Ranchi at par with IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode or IIM Shillong seeing the placement report which mention similar average salary?
IIM Ranchi has had strong placements in recent years, including for the 2022 batch. According to the placement report, MBA and MBA HR students at IIM Ranchi received an average salary of INR 16.17 lakhs per year and INR 15.63 lakhs per year, respectively. The highest salary offered was INR 32.21 lakhs per year, which is about 8.3% higher than the previous year. The placement drive attracted over 250 recruiters, including major companies such as Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, Infosys, EY, and IBM. Students were offered various job roles including asset management, wealth management, corporate banking, and project management.
It is worth noting that both IIM Kozhikode, IIM Shillong, and IIM Indore also have their own strengths and weaknesses. It is advisable to review their placement reports to make an informed decision.
Is it worthwhile to pursue an MBA from IIT Bombay, IIM Trichy or IIM Ranchi?
My brother was in a similar dilemma as he wondered if spending high fees and 2 years of his life at a new IIM was even worth it. But eventually, he joined it and today he is glad he took the decision. Some major reasons for his satisfaction are

How does IIM Ranchi choose students for Student Exchange Program?
IIM Ranchi offers an excellent foreign exchange program, which is currently affiliated with seven universities worldwide: three in Europe, two in Asia, one in the US, and one in Canada. Applications are typically solicited from first-year students who are interested in participating in the student exchange program.
To improve your chances of being accepted into a Student Exchange Program, it is important to carefully review the specific requirements and ensure that you meet them. Each program will have its own set of prerequisites that you must fulfill in order to be considered.
One key factor that the exchange program will consider is your academic performance, demonstrating your dedication to your education and potential to benefit from the program abroad. Additionally, the selection committee will want to ensure that you will make the most of this opportunity, successfully complete the exchange program, and be a positive representative of your home country.
Which is the best, IIM Trichy (HR), IIM Ranchi (HR) or IIM Kashipur core?
Before choosing a college you need to be certain of what you want to pursue. If you are adamant about pursuing HR, then IIM Ranchi is a better option because HR at IIM Trichy is relatively new and lacks rigor. But if you haven’t decided on a domain and are open to all options, go for Kashipur. It is a better choice as a whole. This is because it’s older and has a stronger alumni base.
For HR domain, choose IIM Ranchi over IIM Trichy. Apart from this, you have 2 other options - either go for IIM Kashipur or sit for a reattempt and aim for a better college
How are SIOM and SIBM B as compared to tier 4 and tier 5 IIMs like Ranchi, Raipur, Udaipur, Nagpur, Amritsar, etc.?
IIM Trichy, Ranchi, Raipur, Udaipur, Kashipur, and Rohtak are way ahead of SIOM and SIBM-B. The average package at these new IIMs is greater than INR 11 LPA whereas the lowest packages at these institutes are around INR 6.5-7.5 LPA. You will be astonished to know that the lowest package at these IIMs is almost equal to the average package at SIOM and SIBM-B.
Moreover, IIMs is in itself a brand and therefore promises better growth. This is the reason that these new IIMs despite their early establishment are at par with SIBM-Pune and SCMHRD.
Who got the highest package from IIM Ranchi this year?
During MBA placements in 2022, IIM Ranchi saw a total of 77 companies visit the campus for recruitment. The highest and average packages offered during these placements were INR 42 LPA and INR 16.62 LPA, respectively. While there was a decrease of 39.84% in the number of total recruiters compared to the previous year, the highest package offered saw a growth of 58.49% and the average package saw a rise of 13.13%.

Infrastructure: The temporary campus does not restrict the students from availing world-class facilities. The hostels offer single-room occupancy and amazing views. The campus has 24/7 Wi-Fi facilities. Other amenities include a library, a computer room, a cafeteria, a tuck shop, and a medical room that is open 24/7.
Faculty: The professors are experienced, learned and humble. They adopt effective teaching methodologies that enhance our perspective of the course. In addition, the live projects and industrial surveys give a practical approach to theoretical knowledge. It makes them ready to face the industry and the real world.
Miscellaneous: Various annual events like Agon, Rush and Radix give the students ample opportunities to enhance their extracurricular skills.
So Yes, it is completely worth taking admission here.
Are New IIMs (Trichy, Udaipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur, Kashipur) good for MBA in Finance? If not suggest some B-schools. Really interested in investment banking.
Honestly speaking, a career in investment banking should not be considered by the new IIMs. It’s a too ambitious profile to match the relatively new curriculum of these IIMs. Even if you are in a top B School, you will have to remain among the top students to get placed for a front-end role. One can still get roles in corporate & business finance but getting roles in Investment Banking is rather difficult.
Yet if you are not choosing an older IIM and want to choose a newer one, IIM Trichy is the best among them. The order is
IIM Trichy > IIM Udaipur > IIM Ranchi
There are many B Schools apart from IIMs that offer great Investment Banking roles. These include SPJIMR, JBIMS Mumbai, IIFT, and XLRI.
