Can I crack CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) and get into NLSIU or NALSAR after taking Science in 12th?

If you want to appear for CLAT, it does not matter what stream you were following in your higher secondary years. CLAT does not check your knowledge about a particular stream but it tests your aptitudes.

  • If you work hard then you will definitely be able to get the admission nod from NLSIU or NALSAR.
  • Since you are in your 10(+2), manage your time carefully between preparing for your board exams and preparing for CLAT.
  • You must have a strong foundation in general knowledge, legal aptitude, English, mathematics or quantitative aptitude, and logical reasoning if you want to appear for the CLAT.

The exams tend to be very competitive and they are not as easy as they look. Try to take mock exams and solve the questions of the previous years to get acquainted with the pattern in which the exams are held.

If you are staying in a hostel in NLSIU Bangalore then you should take the things that are required by you daily as a part of your utilities. You should either buy them from a nearby market or bring them from your home.

Following are a few list of items that you must carry with you:

  • Carry a set of clothes containing a mix of formal and informal ones.
  • You should have a laptop with a multi-plug point.
  • Some clean bedsheets, pillow covers, single-window curtains, and towels are also required.
  • Basic set of cutlery that includes a plate, knife, spoon, bowls, etc.
  • Table lamp and kettle are extra utilities but they are quite useful
  • Mosquito Net

What's the most effective way to crack CLAT so as to join NLSIU, Bangalore?

AB

CLAT is a national-level exam where the chances of rejection are very high. You should have enough complete clarity in your mind and go for it only if you are fully interested in law. There should not be any second thoughts in your mind.

Prepare all the sections well, do not leave anything, and if you find something hard, then practice for that. You should plan a clear strategy in your mind regarding solving the paper, time to be devoted, and related points. Revise topics again and again for better preparation.

Lastly, we can say that CLAT is not a complicated exam, it just tests your intelligence, IQ, and aptitude to solve the problems. So completely dive into the preparation and work hard wholeheartedly that can make you the player of the game at the end.

Securing a good rank in CLAT for NLSIU is an achievement and you should prepare for it strategically. More than 70,000-75,000 students register for the exam every year, out of which the acceptance rate is only 3%.

Why do the law undergraduates that graduated from NLS Bangalore, Nalsar earn more than IIT students?

PK
Pradeep Kumar Posted On : September 8th, 2021
BA. LLB from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2023)

There are various reasons due to which law undergraduates from NLS Bangalore and NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad earn more than the IIT students.

  • Since the economic liberalization in the early ’90s, economic activities such as FDI, mergers and acquisitions, loans, IT boom, startup culture have really picked up. This has increased the demand for qualified corporate law practitioners.
  • Compliance with the laws of the land is a big challenge for companies, especially MNCs. They are ready to pay any amount to remain legal and work under the ambit of the law.
  • The number of law students graduating from top law schools is about 200-250, who are capable of handling the work of the 7 top law firms.
  • On the other hand, IITs and IIMs churn out thousands of students and in very diverse fields as well.
  • Law being a very niche field also gives leverage to the students to demand higher salaries. An IIT/IIM graduate may get a CTC of INR 25 LPA.
  • But a law associate will probably be getting a higher in-hand salary with a package of INR 17 lakhs. This is because a law graduate’s salary does not include components such as equity, provident fund, stock options, insurance, and many more.
  • An associate at a law firm has to pay a lot of taxes. This also increases a law graduate’s in-hand salary.

The law firms work in the partnershipmodel. Thus a few years down the line you have a chance to become a partner and earn quite a lot more by sharing profits.

If you have gotten into NLSIU and can’t pay the fees, you can apply for study loans. Your fees will be directly paid to the college if you take a study loan. You will be able to pay off your loan after you get a job.

You can also be eligible for merit cum means scholarships or any such equivalent. If you apply for this, a part of your fees or your entire fees will be waived off depending on your financial circumstances.

You can also find a sponsor to pay off your dues. There are many companies that can help you fund your studies.

What is the scope and benefit of the Masters in Business Laws (MBL) course from NLSIU?

EB
Esha Bose, Posted On : October 25th, 2021
studied at NLSIU (2018)

Masters in Business Law (MBL) from NLSIU is not UGC recognized. If you are an average student willing to pursue this, it is suggested that you look for other options. This is because passing is a tiring task here., it will gradually become harder to drag it for the remaining years. You also have to pay an extension fee of INR 5000 every year.

There are better courses available. Do some market research and then apply, do not get excited with just the brand name NLSIU. This course also has no market value. Companies prefer regular courses or professional courses.

What are the college timings like at NLSIU and NALSAR? Can you keep your regular job while studying here - at least for the first 2 years?

AM
Adishri Mukherjee Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studies at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2018)

The subjects offered at both institutes are full-time courses. NALSAR and NLSIU are both premier educational institutes of the country that offer professional law degrees.

The courses offered by these institutes start after class 12 for several LLB courses, thus it leads to absolutely no question about you having time to pursue a job. The reason is that it is impossible to pursue a job while pursuing a course as vivid as the one mentioned above. The degree you will acquire is not a part-time degree that is easily feasible at several second-tier universities.

The classes usually extend from 9 A.M. to about 12.30 P.M., while the afternoon classes commonly stretch from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M.

However, in case you are pursuing a distance learning program, which does not include L.L.B, then you can undeniably continue your job.
