One of my friends studied at DTU. To him, it is at par with old IITs and BITS. Let us see why he preferred DTU over any other IIITs or IITs.

These are the major highlights of all the four top colleges, having good campus life and offering decent placement opportunities to its students. It's your turn to decide now.
Among the mentioned institutes, DTU will definitely provide you better placement for CS. However, placements completely depend on your talent and caliber and the college is just a medium to meet the recruiters. But, DTU has an advantage in terms of placements because of its location which makes it accessible for a lot of companies to visit the college for interviews. However, that does not necessarily guarantee placements. In the past, students had bagged 1 Cr salary packages, there were also students who got placed with only 3 LPA.
According to the placement highlights of 2021, the average and highest CTC offered at the institute were 7 LPA and 13 LPA.
Some of the major companies that visited the past placement drive are Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, Codenation, Samsung, Flipkart, Oyo, Uber, Ola.
Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology has been positioned under the rank band of 151-200 among the top 906 engineering institutions across the country which also includes all IITs/IIITs/NITs. Hence, CSE at MAIT is a good option.
As per Times Engineering Survey and NIRF, Delhi Technological University (DTU) is ranked 2nd and 34th among the Best Technological Universities in India.
Ranked 5 in State Fund University by ARIIA 2020 and 11 in India's Top 150 Engineering Colleges in 2019 by Outlook, NSUT offers a wide range of courses and is accredited by ‘NAAC A’.

Placements:
DTU:
Delhi Technological University has an unmatched placement record as one of the top engineering colleges in the country. It is ranked no. 1 by Outlook India in a placement category.
The highest CTC offered by domestic companies and international companies is 39.2 LPA and 52.22 LPA respectively.
The average CTC received by the students at the institute in 2020 placement was 6.5 LPA.
NSUT:
Looking at the records of the NSUT placement, the salary package offered is from INR 4 LPA to INR 1.25 Cr. from BE courses including MPAE.
The students are placed in different multinational companies, government and the private sector, etc.
A total of 172 recruitment firms visited the college. Deloitte, 91 mobiles, Amazon India, Accenture, Bharti Airtel, KPMG, Reliance Jio, Samsung, Maruti Suzuki, and so on are just a few of the companies providing student placements.
MAIT Delhi:
It offers its students decent placement and internship opportunities by interacting with different reputable companies.
The applicants from CSE get placements into companies such as Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Amazon, etc.
42 firms visited the campus in 2019 offering packages from INR 3.5 LPA to INR 28 LPA.
All of the above courses offered by different institutes stand high in one or the other areas, so it’s up to applicant choice to which course and college to take admission in.
Among these, IIEST Shibpur is better. It has maintained a good placement record over the years. IIEST Shibpur placements in 2022 ended with the highest CTC of INR 45 LPA. More than 1022 recruiting companies took part in the placement drive and made 776 job offers.
It has an active research interface. If you are interested in pursuing research projects, IIEST is the right place for you. Students of the institute get accepted into IVY league schools for higher studies.
The answer to this question depends on the interests. It totally depends on the field of interest of the student.
If there is still a confusion about DTU for software Engineering and ECE at NSIT they can look at the college placements for that particular course.
Placements of Software Engineering at DTU and Communications engineering at NSIT:
Name of the College |
Delhi Technological University (DTU) |
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) |
Highest package offered |
1.08 crores per annum |
INR 56 Lakhs per Annum |
Average package recorded |
13 Lakhs per annum |
INR 10 Lakhs per Annum |
Top recruiting companies |
Google, Microsoft, amazon, adobe etc. |
Google, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Amazon, Arcesium and Adobe |
Therefore, according to the placement averages and top companies that visit the college, Software engineering from Delhi technical university seems like a viable option. There is a wide wage gap that we can see in the tables mentioned above. Also, most of my batch mates also feels that software engineering in DTU is a better option as compared to ECE in NSIT.
NSIT IT is the better option among these. It offers a better peer group which is reflected in the cutoff requirements. Location-wise, NSIT is more accessible. The institute has a compact batch size, so students get good placement opportunities.
NSIT placements are top-notch. The placement average is around 100%. The average salary package offered is around INR 12-15 LPA. During the recent placement drive, the highest CTC offered was INR 1.2 CPA. All major MNCs take part in campus placement.
In terms of placements, DTU, BITS, and NSIT offer excellent opportunities, especially for Computer Science related branches. If you maintain a decent academic record, it’s easy to get a package of above INR 8 LPA, through the campus drive of DTU, NSIT, for branches like COE, Software Engineering, and IT.
Here are the highlights of CSE placements at these institutes.
Institute | Average CTC of CSE |
DTU | INR 10-15 LPA |
NSIT | INR 13 LPA |
BITS Pilani | INR 18 LPA |
IIIT Delhi | INR 16 LPA |
But if you are interested in pursuing research IIIT Delhi CSE is better than DTU, BITS, and NSIT.
In 2020-2021 placements, DTU CSE average package was INR 16-17 LPA. Here are the placement details for the branch.
Highest CTC (International) | INR 1.08 Crore |
Highest CTC (Domestic) | INR 51 LPA |
Major recruiters | Microsoft, Adobe, Google, Amazon, Samsung |
Job roles | Data Analyst, Web Developer, SDE |
More than 70% of the students were able to get internship opportunities.
DTU and IIT Dharwad both give head-on competition to each other in all fields. DTU is ranked 36th by NIRF and 2nd by Times Engineering Survey. IIT Dharwad was recently established, and it's making all efforts to be ranked among the best. Placement opportunities are impressive in both colleges. More than 90% of the students are placed every year.
Admission:
Students seeking admission to both the colleges need to appear for the JEE mains exam. For IIT Dharwad students also need to get a good score in the JEE advanced.
Total ECE seat intake at DTU is 270 and 50 at IIT Dharwad.
The required cutoff for the two institutes is as follows.
Institutes |
Cut off |
IIT Dharwad(EE) |
5010-7048 |
DTU(EEE) |

Course Fees:
The course fee structure of both colleges is pretty much higher. Day scholars have to pay a separate fee structure as they do not avail of the hostel and mess facilities.

Well developed laboratories are set up for the students interested in Research and Development.

IIT Dharwad is spread across 470 acres and includes well-developed laboratories for the EE students. Digital Library, well-ventilated hostels, 24*7 medical care.
DTU Delhi is spread in a massive area that includes facilities like a three-storeyed library building, EDUSAT studio, sports center, and 24*7 medical facilities.
Placement:
DTU has an exemplary placement record in all its branches. For the EEE branch, the highest package offered was INR 20.33 lakhs. A total of 61 students were placed. 76 offers were given to students from different companies.
IIT Dharwad saw its first placement in the year 2020. Internships with higher packages were offered to the students of the 3 branches. Top recruiters were Microsoft, Google, Doubtnut, Vizag steel plant, and a lot more.
The scholarship is being offered under various categories that include female candidates, academic excellence, and economically backward students. Both the colleges are good which is evident from its national rankings. To choose EE or EEE solely depends on the rank secured by the students in the entrance examination.
