AP
Aashna Pathak Posted On : August 20th, 2021

The payment for the fees can be done in both ways i.e. via online or using cash or a demand draft during the office hour in the institute. The tuition fees for the general B.Tech course are around INR 80,000 per year. The fee structure varies with the course but the payment stand is the same for every course.

The hostel fee in IET Lucknow for a semester is around INR 15,000. Part of the hostel fee is submitted in advance as security. Mess fee for the hostel costs an additional INR 17,000 per semester.

Students enrolled in the first year are allowed to pay through Demand Draft (DD) only. The fees can be submitted in the accounts division as a demand draft. If you wish to pay online, it can be done online via Internet Banking, NEFT, and RTGS.

Are IET Lucknow hostels government or private?

AL
Abhishek Lakhra Posted On : August 5th, 2021
B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2016)

The hostels at IET Lucknow are State government-funded. It is the same as the college hostels. The hostel and bedrooms can be made amazing by looking and focusing more on the maintenance standards of the hostel. However, it has been observed that a newly constructed hostel has been inaugurated and it is in much better conditions.

In terms of mess facility, it is a private cum cooperative basis. The mess accounting is being done by the student head of the hostel called as Mess secretary. The mess service is pretty much good. The menu is as per the students.

There is just one problem that students face the most is the poorly maintained washrooms. The internet facility is also good. Other than these, the hostel is fine.

Which is better, IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur?

AK
Ajay Khandelwal Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Completed MCA from Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow in 2019

IET Lucknow has been chosen by a lot of students for its great campus placement for ECE, IT, CSE, etc. In terms of the faculty of IET Lucknow, it is admirable. Apart from being situated in the capital of UP, the institute also is known to have facilities dedicated to sports, robotics, cultural enhancement of the activities, and looking for the talent that the students have.

  • IET Lucknow also has a good infrastructure and has an enviable position among the institutes that are affiliated with AKTU in UP.
  • The location of IET Lucknow is also favorable.
  • IET Lucknow also provides better exposure to the students than KNIT Sultanpur.
  • IET Lucknow offers coaching for IES and GATE exams.
  • It also provides coaching for SSC exams as well as banking exams.
  • The hostels are in good condition and there is also an internet connection for the convenience of the students.
  • Compared to KNIT, the placement in IET Lucknow is far better.
Categories IET Lucknow KNIT Sultanpur
Course Fee 3.44 lakhs 3.37 lakhs
Highest CTC 20-23 LPA 20 LPA
Average CTC 15-18 LPA 7-8 LPA
Recruiting Companies Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, IBM, etc. Qualcomm, Adobe, ZS Associates, HCL, etc.

Not many popular companies attend the placement program of KNIT Sultanpur. There is also no scope for placement for students of EE, ME, and CE. To make that possible, you will have to prepare for GATE exams. So it is suggested that among the two you go for IET Lucknow.

In IET Lucknow if I want to prepare for civil services..will I opt for off campus PG near it and its criteria?

RR
Rohit Rao Posted On : August 6th, 2021

To prepare for any Civil Services Examination, you will have to take a PG apartment. Make sure that the environment around the PG is very quiet and there are no noises around. This will help you in concentrating on your studies.

The campus hostels are also good. Every year many students qualify for CAT, GATE, IES, and many other competitive examinations. But off-campus PG will be more preferable for you.

You can take your graduation subject like Civil or Mechanical Engineering as your optional subject in the Civil Service examinations. These branches have good faculty members.

If you want to take non-engineering subjects branches to prepare, you can go for CS/IT branches. These branches have few classes and you can get ample time for preparations. The placements in these branches are also good. The college curriculum is not very hectic and you can easily continue your preparation.

What is the status of IET Lucknow, and can I get admission there with a 1,750 rank in the UPSEE? In which branch?

AK
Amrit Singh Kaur Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2021)

Currently, IT Lucknow is considered the best college in Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). But it is way backward in terms of infrastructure and placements from its private counterparts. The non-core branches’ average placements hover around INR 4-5 lakhs per annum while that of core branches is virtually non-existent.

The students are good as most of them were serious IITs and NITs aspirants before coming here. The students here can easily prepare for other competitive exams as coaching centers are nearby. Attendance is also fairly lenient and thus you will get ample time for your preparations. However, sometimes the administration may go hard if they feel like it.

With a rank of 1750 in UPSEE, I think you can get electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and instrumentation engineering, civil engineering, and chemical engineering by 4th round. You may also get information technology and electronics and communications engineering by 5th round.

Here are some of the things for which you can consider joining IET Lucknow –

  • If you are not getting any NIT or GFTI.
  • If your financial condition is not good (Being a government college it has a very nominal fee).
  • If you do not want a heavy academic burden.
  • If you are aiming for higher education and do not care about placements much.

IET Lucknow is not a bad institute. It is just that it is mostly a good compromise institute rather than an outright first-choice college.

I got 304 marks in the UPSEE. My rank in general category is 9458 and in girl's category, it is 1239. Can I get admission at IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur in either electrical or electronics branch?

RA
Ritika Anand Posted On : August 3rd, 2021

Considering your UPSEE rank in the girl category, I think you should get easily in KNIT Sultanpur. Mostly even a seat in IET Lucknow is possible.

The girls above your rank must be trying multiple other entrance exams as well and there is a maximum possibility that half of them will go to IITs or NITs. Your rank is very good and girls above you are more capable on average.

UPSEE Cutoff Round (General Category) –

Courses KNIT Sultanpur IET Lucknow
B. Tech in Electronics Engineering 1862 to 2440 508 to 784
B. Tech in Electrical Engineering 2258 to 2950 835 to 1132

Don't worry I think you should get one among the mentioned seats. Good luck!

Can I get into CSE in IET Lucknow this year with a 2,371 rank in general quota taking into consideration that this year HBTI is through the Mains?

NS
Nandini Sheth Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Bachelor of Technology Computer Science and Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

You have to wait till the final counseling takes place which is open for all. In the meantime, you should take admission in any branch you get there and wait for final counseling.

Taking into consideration that HBTI is now not taking admission through UPSEE the first option for students would be IET Lucknow.

Talking about the previous year's closing general rank in CSE was somewhat around 2600. So you can predict the answer to your question.

Check the cut off rank for IET Lucknow:

Branches Opening & Closing Rank
Chemical Engineering 929-20821
Civil Engineering 180-1260
Computer Science and Engineering 2-120
Information Technology 233-325
Mechanical Engineering 424-1310

But you can also opt for EC, EE, EI, CE, and CHE as CS, IT, and ME may get filled earlier. In my opinion, you won't be getting any CSE seats on this rank in IET Lucknow.

Can I get an admission at IET Lucknow in the ECE branch at 2,400 rank (GNOP category)?

PP
Prateek Pathak Posted On : August 5th, 2021
B.Tech in civil Engg from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2017)

It's quite tough to get ECE in the general category with this rank as IET Lucknow is supposed to be the top college after HBTI has become an independent University. Having a few friends from IET Lucknow and read online reviews here are some tips for you.

I would suggest you apply for the Electronics and Instrumentation Branch as well. I also advise you to accept any branch offered in IET, as you'll get a branch change option in the second year if you'll be in the top 3 among your class peers.

Cutoff for B. Tech for the general category (2020) –

Branch Cut off Rank
Electronics and Communication Engineering 193-508
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering 582-1132

Since there are 3 rounds of counseling available, you should perform well and remain positive.

What is induction programme at IET Lucknow? Is it necessary to have 75% attendance in it?

AK
Ajit Kumar Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

IET Lucknow earlier used to have a very lenient approach towards attendance. But since the new director has joined the institute, Mr. H.K Paliwal has mandated that students should have an attendance of at least 75% throughout the semester to attend the exams and the tests.

If you have attendance lower than 75% then you may be discarded from giving tests and exams. Even final-year students have suffered from this new rule. So I would suggest not to mess up with this.
