The reason why students prefer AIIMS Raipur to AIIMS Patna is because of its modern day facilities and high quality education.
The hostel services are exceptionally good. The rooms are hygienic and well furnished.
It is located barely 15–20 minutes from the heart of the city of Raipur, which has enough places to hang out.
Raipur city is now among the fast developing cities of India and you won’t regret joining this college.
Many students are confused while choosing their AIIMS College. AIIMS Raipur is usually ranked low in the list of 2012 implemented AIIMS.So firstI will address the misconceptions that l led to this conclusion:
People think that the hostel is far from the campus. When in reality you will be staying in the residential complex. You can come to the campus easily via a bus. Also you will be free from the fear of seniors. Also after a year you will be given single rooms at the hostel itself.
To have a look at its infrastructure, people refer to its old pictures which are misleading. The college and hostel are in fact massive and house thousands of students.
There is a rumour that AIIMS Raipur campus is incomplete. In reality, a dental college is being constructed.
People assume that since it’s located in Raipur, the crowd is also below average.
The only flaw is that the city needs development. All AIIMSs get equal funding and faculty distributed evenly. Yet AIIMS Raipur is underrated.
AIIMS Raipur is already a leading figure in the field of medical education. This is a result of its top-notch infrastructure and elaborate teaching methods. It satisfies modern-day demands and your life will completely change if you opt for this college to pursue an MBBS. I have enumerated some points to convince you of the same:
You will be spending your first year at the Kabir Nagar Campus. This campus has lush green surroundings with a very clean environment. You will love your time here.
The hostel facilities are remarkable. Boys get a 2BHK flat with 3 boys in a flat whereas girls get a 3 BHK flat with 5 girls in a flat.
The college building comprises 3 floors with all the facilities you need to become a good medical student.
The hygiene here is notable.
AIIMS offers excellent sports facilities like an indoor badminton court, volleyball (outdoor) basketball, 3–4 tables for table tennis, a football/cricket ground, and a mat for kabaddi.
The annual fest Oriana is the cherry on top. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience here.
So yes, your life will definitely change for the better if you opt for this college.
Every AIIMS is good and not much comparable. But if you compare it to AFMC, there are some things you need to know.
Firstly AFMC has a bond of 1 cr rupees if you want to quit after MBBS. But the infrastructure of AFMC Isi is exceptionally good. It just does not provide you the basic medical facilities but trains you in shooting, swimming, working in challenging conditions, daily PT, etc. All this will prepare you for a tough future.
The best part of AIIMS on the other hand is no bond is required to be signed. AIIMS focuses on medical facilities only. The classrooms are well-designed. The library, playground, gym, and other facilities add to the overall infrastructure of the college.
I will recommend that you go for AIIMS if you are willing to pursue PG right after MBBS. AFMC on the other hand lets you pursue PG only after serving for a fixed period of time. But don’t worry, the internship offers a good amount of money.
Among the new AIIMS, AIIMS Bhopal tops the list of libraries as well as other facilities.AIIMS Bhopal has a modern-day library which is the best you can avail yourself of. If you need some strong points to believe this, I have listed them below:
The massive library of AIIMS Bhopal covers 3 floors and has centralized air conditioning.
The entrance to the library has a sensor-installed automatic door.
A fully digitalized scanner has made issuing and returning books a hassle-free process
The library also has desktop computers for browsing the Internet And reading eBooks.
Hardcopies of Novels, Short Stories and Biographies are also Available.
The first floor is for general reading. The second floor is for Medical and Nursing books. It also has a Conference Room for practicing Presentations, Discussion Room, and a Room Dedicated to Research Related Stuff. The third floor constitutes the e-library, Individual Reading area, and Computer Section.
Free Wi-Fi facility is available on all 3 floors
The top floor has Study Pods each with its own LAN Port and 2 Charging Port.
On every floor, there is a washroom and a water cooler
Trust me once you step inside this library, you will not want to go back.
I would personally recommend you choose AIIMS Raipur over Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College. Although there are many reasons that have gotten me to this conclusion, I will list down the core reasons that will help you make up your mind.
Pros-
AIIMS Raipur is a central institute that lays more emphasis on quality education.
You don’t have to sign any bonds
You get to meet a better crowd. This is because AIIMS Raipur constitutes the cream of medical students. Whereas in Pt. JNM, people who are not selected in other colleges usually get admitted.
The infrastructure is equally good in both colleges. But the hostel facilities are horrible in Pt. JNM.
The DKR super specialty hospital is the pride of AIIMS Raipur.
AIIMS Raipur is house to a full-fledged sickle cell research institute
AIIMS Raipur also has an advanced Cardiac Institute and a new regional cancer center building
Cons-
The patient load at Pt.JNM is comparatively less than that at AIIMS Raipur This helps you protect your quality over quantity agenda. This is also a must needed skill for every doctor.
Pt. JNM has an extensive aluminum base whereas AIIMS Raipur lacks in this aspect.
The faculty at AIIMS Raipur is understaffed. Whereas at Pt.JNM the faculty is experienced and also satisfies the MCI criteria.
I hope the points helped you reach a decision.
The first-year students of AIIMS Raipur are made to stay in AIIMS Residential Complex which is about 1 km away from the campus. There is a bus that will take you to and fro from the campus.
For boys-
A 2BHK flat with a bathroom, kitchen, and toilet
One room with 2 beds and hall with one bed
You are provided with a study table
The rooms are clean and spacious with a gallery attached to get some fresh air
A maximum of 3 boys share the flat.
For girls-
A 3BHK flat with bathroom, kitchen, and toilet
3 rooms for individual girls and a hall with two beds for 2 girls
A maximum of 5 girls are made to stay together
Security is good with female security guards always guarding the girls' hostel 24×7.
Mess facilities-
Mess facilities are available at Kabirnagar itself. Food is prepared on the main campus and delivered to the hostel at Kabirnagar.
Breakfast, snacks, and dinner are provided in Kabirnagar, and lunch is provided on campus.
The hostel facilities at AIIMS Raipur are pretty good. In the second year, you get an individual room on campus.
If you are confused between AIIMS Patna/Rishikesh/Raipur and Medical College Kolkata, you should study the pros of both colleges. Then you can make a decision on which pros to avail yourself of.
Pros of AIIMS
The infrastructure is modern and has present-time facilities
The fees are very affordable around INR 5800 for 5.5 years.
The fact that you are AIIMS alumni is in itself valuable.
The internship offered by AIIMS has a high stipend of around INR 23500.
Pros of Kolkata Medical College
The most significant feature of this college is the Internal State Reservation Of PG Seats.
It’s a very old college, established in 1835. As the saying goes Old is Gold. The faculty is more experienced here.
Being a metropolitan city, Kolkata has a lot to offer in terms of amenities.
The deciding factor should be your own convenience and abilities. The final decision is yours.
Rather than a stipend, students at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Patna, Raipur, and Rishikesh are offered salaries that involve the deduction of taxes. The total salary of a Junior Student both clinical and non-clinical is around INR 90000/month. After the deduction of taxes and house rent, it amounts to INR 76000/month.
These figures keep changing with time.
