How good is studying a diploma in mechatronics at NTTF Tellicherry?

GP
Gauri Pathak Posted On : September 10th, 2021
B.E. from Siddaganga Institute of Technology (2017)

Avoid getting admission to this institute. If you have to do this course anyway from NTTF, then go to the Bangalore campus as it would be a more sensible option.

Mechatronics is a combination of Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, and Computer science and engineering. This is an emerging sector seeing the rate at which digital systems, gadgets, automation, and robotics fields are growing.

The faculty at NTTF Tellicheery are average and the lab facilities are just fine. However, the placements are not good and in fact, they are pitiful. The fee charged for this course is not worth it. A degree in B.Tech will be more valuable than a diploma with the same fee.

How strict is NTTF?

I know a few people who graduated from NTTF. According to their experience, NTTF is quite strict.

  • You are not allowed to go out during class hours. There are specific time slots of around 15 minutes for tea and snacks, you can go out only then.
  • Mobiles are strictly prohibited.
  • Students and faculty have to be in college within time.
  • 90% attendance is required at the campus.
  • If you have a two-wheeler, you are allowed to park inside the campus only if you have a helmet, and valid license.

So, NTTF is pretty strict about its rules and regulations.

Are there any sports at NTTF Bangalore?

Diploma in Tool and Die Making & Product Design & Engineering, Nettur Technical Training Foundation (2020)

One of my friends completed her diploma from NTTF Dharwad. He gave me some information about the sports meets and the annual schedule for all the centers of NTTF. A sports meet is held every year in the centers. The Kreeda and Kala Sangam take place alternatively. All the NTTF centers participate and represent their centers. Students have a good time participating in these events.

The sports level is only up to the NTTF and it will not take you to the national level. So if you are looking for sports meets then, unfortunately, you will have to look for other institutions.

What is your personal review of a postgraduate diploma in Automative Product Design (PGDAPD) at NTTF?

The diploma in Automotive Product Design at NTTF is a recently established one-year program, It offers all the fundamental industry-required skills, alongside a really strong alumni network around and over India.

The diploma course is a derivation of very specific industry requirements. Nonetheless, it has now reached one of the major levels in the institute. It is in fact a good department to opt for.

The fee structure is INR 80,000 per semester. It can vary as per the criteria, so it is best that you keep a close check. This course, however, is not accredited by any of the major bodies around the state.

What is a personal review of the PGTE and the PGPD course at the NTTF?

KS

Studied Tool Design at NTTF Bangalore

My brother did PGPDE from NTTF, so I have some idea about both courses.

PGDE:

  • It is a two-year program that includes Industrial Design (ID), but engineering is also taught alongside ID.
  • Design studios, labs, model shops, and tools are all in poor condition.
  • There will be only one experienced faculty, others will give you assignments only.
  • The emphasis is primarily on engineering, with little or no emphasis on ID.
  • There is no research going on there, and you will not get as much exposure as you would at a Tier II college.

PGTE:

  • PGPDE is a two-year program that focuses on tool and die design, engineering, and analysis.
  • Workshops are available, but the availability of machines does not match the strength of the students, making it difficult to complete projects.
  • There are experienced staff members available, and the teaching is comparatively good. A lot of CAD assignments must be submitted for each semester (which is good for learning in the beginning), but one major disadvantage is that you will never receive feedback on the assignments you submit.
  • AutoCAD and Creo software have been taught. However, in the industry, UG NX and Catia are widely used.
  • Last but not least, many students enroll in PG school NTTF because of placements. To tell you the truth, only a few companies come to campus. Many companies advertised in advertisements visited the campus last decade, but they still keep it in the ad.
  • Nowadays, placements are very poor, either because service-based companies do not visit campus or because the salary offered by them is too low. For the PG programs, the median and maximum CTC offered in current years is 2.5 lakhs and 3.4 lakhs.

I will advise you to take all these factors into consideration, before choosing PGDE or PGTE at NTTF.

Is joining the tool design PG course at NTTF after 3 years in a mechanical company a good idea? What is the present placement scenario at NTTF?

PGDTD Tool Design & Press Tool Technology at NTTF (2015)

The experience you will get in NTTF will transform you from an ordinary engineer to an advanced one. However, it is important that you work hard and diligently.

NTTF is unquestionably superior to the standard Engineering Master's degree program in India. Tool Design course will assist you in technical preparation for industry challenges.

The institute has great connections and tie-ups with leading manufacturers in India and abroad. You can rely on NTTF to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be.

Which are other institutions or colleges comparable to NTTF providing practical knowledge?

RS
Rajnath Sanyal Posted On : September 10th, 2021
B.E. from Siddaganga Institute of Technology (2017)

NTTF is a prestigious private education institution in India, founded by the Indo-Swiss partnership for technical education. Here’s what I got to know after doing some research online.

  • There are a few institutes in India providing practical education like NTTF.
  • One of the major competitors is GTTC (i.e., Government Tool Room and Training Centre).
  • Both the institutes are famous for the Tools Engineering program and offer the same courses.
  • The teaching methods are similar, with workshops like NTTF.
  • GTTC has an edge over NTTF.
  • GTTC is government-authorized. Therefore, you can pursue graduation after your diploma.

Lastly, you get permission to attend the DCET exam, which will help you get into engineering colleges affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) or autonomous.

Is NTTF a good scope for a job?

AK

Product Design at Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) (2020)

Getting a job after completing a course at NTTF depends on how hard you have prepared yourself for the future and how diligent you have been.

You will definitely get ample knowledge in the institute which can be very important in the future. At the end of the day, only your merits will help you in getting the job. According to the recent placement highlights the average and highest CTC offered at the institute is 1.5 LPA and 5 LPA.

The main course at NTTF though is Tool and Die making. It involves pressing tools and injection molds. If you want to pursue that course then NTTF would be a good place for you.

Should I pursue a PG diploma in mechanical engineering at the NTTF (Nettur Technical Training Foundation), Bangalore?

JS
Jivesh Sinha Posted On : September 10th, 2021
Studied Tool and Die Making at Nettur Technical Training Foundation (2019)

No, I would not suggest you join Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) to pursue a PG Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. The quality of education at the institute has been going down gradually over the past few years.

There has been no improvement in the infrastructure in the past few years. The institute does not have well-equipped laboratories. The workshops do not have the required resources to offer to the students of the institute. You would not be able to gain any experience in the practical application of all the concepts in the course.

Do not be fooled by the marketing and promotional banners and pamphlets of the institute. The companies mentioned in these promotional activities used to visit the campus years ago for recruitment purposes. Now, hardly a few of them visit the campus.
