Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a worldwide program that familiarizes students with open sources, free software, and technology-related organizations to enhance their code skills. The organization makes the provision of mentors and advisers through the entire procedure, from studying and learning about the community to subscribing code. The idea behind this is to get the students involved in these programs and familiarize them with the open-source community and help them to utilize their summer vacation to good use.
A close friend of mine goes to IIIT Lucknow. From him, I got to know about the GSOC selection of IIIT Lucknow.
GSOC in IIIT Lucknow:
The technical club AXIOSwas formed in the session of 2018–2019 in IIIT Lucknow and in the first two years of its functioning, the following have been observed in the GSOC results.
The team is very proud of the outcome and believes that the numbers will keep on increasing exponentially in the coming future.
The coding culture of IIIT Lucknow is not at all something that one should question. Being mentored by IIIT Allahabad which was also famous for its coding culture, IIIT Lucknow has gone very far. It has not only taken forward the legacy of good coding culture, but it has also worked beyond it since the launch of its pilot batch.
The plus point is that all the seniors take the coding classes of the first year. You can reach out to them easily from any queries. This helps the students of the first year to give a kickstart to their competitive coding journey. So, if you are willing to get into IIIT Lucknow and you have average coding skills, don't worry, you’ll get through it.
For the students having CRL in between 4-10k in JEE Mains, this is the most difficult choice for them. There are several factors according to which a student should make a decision. Here are the factors.
Interest: Among Artificial Intelligence and Business Informatics, you should go with his/her interests.
Scope: Scope plays an important role as what's in trend today would be out of trend tomorrow. In this category, AI is the future.
Here a little bit about both courses to help you give an idea.
AI is the mechanism through which a machine displays its intelligence as a human does which depends on the existing data and instructions while Business Informatics combines the knowledge of economics, IT, and CSE and is focussed mainly on business-related areas.
The other factors that you should consider are as follow.
Placements: Although both AI and BI are in demand, the placements are rigorously good in AI. If you are good with the concepts of BI you could get placed in that field too.
Curriculum: Both courses have a specifically designed curriculum.
College Life: It plays an important role in the overall development of a student and IIIT Lucknow has better infrastructure than IIIT Allahabad and would be more suitable.
Location: IIIT Lucknow is a prime location. But you should consider the distance of the institute from your home too.
If you are conflicted about the courses, I will suggest that you go with CSAI, it is a border field and you will have good opportunities in the future. But if you want a good college life go for BI at IIIT Lucknow.
My friend in Patna got selected easily for NIT Parna because of the Home State quota. Later in the 3rd - 4th round she got IIIT Jabalpur and not IIIT Lucknow. She went to IIIT Jabalpur after JoSAA rounds but kept her hopes high for the CSAB rounds. Finally, in the Spot round, she got IIIT Lucknow and she could not have been happier. To date, she never regrets choosing it over NIT Patna.
Here is the brief comparison of placement statistics of these institutes

The following answer to this question will enlist some facts to the students. Among the IIITs, as mentioned above, are completely new, so they still not have alumni networks.
The course offered by these institutes is the best if you want to learn or do research in the future. But if placements are considered, IIIT Lucknow and IIIT Naya Raipur are still lagging far behind than NIT Raipur, a well-established institute among the two IIITs.
NIT Raipur has an infinite alumni network. Companies like Oracle, Microsoft, Amazon make a regular visit to complete their recruitment process with CTCs of 8+ LPA, specifically for the CS and IT students.
The biggest cons of NIT Raipur is its Hostel, as only 30% of students here take hostel accommodation, and the rest 70% find PGs, rent houses, or flats for their accommodation.
Another disadvantage of this institute is the outdated syllabus of NIT Raipur, along with the grading techniques.
Therefore the choice is obvious. If a student is interested in carrying on higher studies, they can go for IIIT Naya Raipur. It is well-established and has a permanent campus. But, IIIT Lucknow is carrying out its administration as a temporary campus.
Besides, if you want placement immediately after completing your studies, you must choose NIT Raipur.
The answer is, NO, without a doubt. Here are some reasons as to why it isn’t a risk to join IIIT Lucknow even after the shifting of the institute -
So, there is no risk in joining IIIT Lucknow as it has already shifted its campus. This is rather an
advantage because now IIIT Lucknow is not dependent on IIIT Allahabad and it can conduct and organize its workshops on its own.
IIIT Lucknow started in 2015, being mentored by IIIT Allahabad as the Lucknow campus was under construction. From the batch of 2019, the campus has shifted to the new campus of IIIT Lucknow.
I am aware that the students were quite keen on moving to the Lucknow campus and theirs is quite a well-performing batch.
College time is the most joyful part of a student’s life and having a good friend circle is the cherry on the cake. It isn’t possible to share all of the wonderful experiences that one had during their campus life in the college years, but here are some of the pleasant memories from IIIT Lucknow:
There is a perfect balance between gaming and studies. You get enough time to have fun and enjoy your life apart from your academics. Your friend’s circle plays a leading role in this.
Without any second thoughts, IIIT Lucknow is a fairly better choice than NIT Delhi in terms of infrastructure, coding culture, and placements. Let us consider these criteria individually.
Overall, IIIT Lucknow is easily the better choice than NIT Delhi considering all major aspects.
IIIT Lucknow is one among the 20 IIITs that was set up by the central government in Public-Private Partnership model. In the year 2015, IIIT Lucknow started its first batch.
The institute is mentored by IIIT Allahabad. When the campus of IIIT Lucknow was under construction, the classes were temporarily conducted at IIIT Allahabad. Students of IIIT Lucknow were being taught by the faculties of IIIT Allahabad and they got the same facilities of the institute.
Now, the campus of IIIT Lucknow is completely set up and classes are being conducted on their campus itself. Everything including grading is now separate from IIIT Allahabad. The new campus of IIIT Lucknow is set up on 50 acres of land in the heart of the city. All the facilities i.e. hostels, mess, sports clubs, labs, libraries, academic block, everything is there on the new campus.
So, if you are looking out to get into IIIT Lucknow, don’t worry, your classes will be held on the new campus only.
