CGC Landran is a very popular college and it is affiliated with Punjab Technical University. The faculty of this college is average but the placements and infrastructure are very good.
Various IT companies like Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini visit the campus for recruitment and you can easily secure a job if you can maintain at least 65% in your B.Tech. If your percentage is even higher, then you can even get selected into top companies like Microsoft and Mu-sigma.
You can easily get a job in IT service by preparing for Arithmetic, Reasoning, English. Also, improve your coding skills for which the college does provide extra classes. But getting into a product-based company will be a little difficult as these companies only recruit 4-5 students who have very good knowledge of their fields.
If you are unable to get into a product-based company then start preparing for GATE, build some cool projects and receive some certifications too so that you can make your profile strong and your chances for recruitment will increase further.
Also, most of the HRs look for candidates who have qualified GATE examination, so it can be a plus point in your resume.
Having friends studying in both the institutes, I can assure you that among them Panjab University (PU) is better. CGC Landran is apparently a private institute mainly affiliated to PTU.
Now, considering various factors, both of them are compared below in a brief way,
Institute |
Panjab University (PU) |
CGC Landran |
Course Fees (1st Year) |
INR. 4.0 lakh (1st Year Fees) |
INR. 92,000 (1st Year Fees) |
Highest CTC |
INR. 33 LPA |
INR. 35 LPA |
Average CTC |
INR. 6 LPA |
4-5 LPA |
Thus, considering everything, it is suggested you go for PU rather than CGC Landran.
The answer to this question depends on you. It is up to you whether you are interested or not. If you are passionate enough about practical learning then you will have to take an initiative, you will have to work hard on it. The faculty will definitely help you with it.
Both colleges facilitate project-based learning. As far as I know, the students work on major projects for the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) and Mechanical Engineering. After the first year of engineering, you will be engaged with projects in each semester which will be very exciting and full of practical application-based learning.
Apart from all these, certain events and competitions organized by the college provide a platform for you as a student to exhibit and flaunt your talent and knowledge and win rewards as well!
It definitely will give you a good opportunity to know about yourself, to explore within yourself.
Without a doubt, CU's degree is more valuable than CGC's (Landran) because CU has been awarded the prestigious A+ grade by NAAC. Both CU and CGC are governed by the same management and share the same goal of achieving global recognition by providing a quality teaching-learning environment. Nonetheless, CU has emerged as a distinguished institute committed to providing quality education in a short period of time and has been ranked by WCRC as one of Asia's Best & Fastest Growing Private Universities. The Btech in CSE program at Chandigarh University focuses on research-based learning and covers a variety of topics in hardware, software, data management, and design. Moreover, among India's private universities, only CU offers 100% merit-based scholarships.
Chandigarh University's (CU) placement cell, also known as CU-TBI, is comparable to IITs and NITs. Companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Paytm, Flipkart, Infosys, Oracle, Cognizant, DELL, Wipro, HP, and many others hire Chandigarh University students. Students can also participate in an international student exchange program. From the start of the academic year, the University has inspired students to bring new ideas to fruition. So, not only is CU the best place to get a job, but it will also help you advance in your career through lectures, seminars, internships, and other opportunities.

NIRF 2020 has ranked LPU at 87, CGC Landran at 201-250 band and NIET Noida at 99 for Engineering. Situated near the Country capital and in Noida, NIET has the best connectivity among the three colleges followed by LPU and then CGC Landran. Infrastructure wise LPU is better and consisting of excellent facilities and computer centres. CGC Landran and NIET Noida also have good infrastructure.

The placement percentage in all the three colleges are 100% and the colleges are visited by reputed national and international companies.
For the CSE course, LPU is a good choice. The other two are also good. The decision should be made by the candidate not only on the above parameters as required but according to the connectivity of the college from the home town and annual fee of the college.
My sister recently graduated from CGC Landran and has better information about the teaching techniques employed at the institute. Here is what she had to say.
In the first year of college, the teachers do not use projectors a lot and they just give the students notes for the subjects.
In the second year, the syllabus starts getting tougher and the length of the chapters in subjects also increases as the core subjects get included. It becomes a challenge to complete the syllabus in time. That is the reason why second year onwards teachers mostly give notes and teach from PPT Slides to cover up the syllabus.
Hope this clears your doubt.

Chandigarh University has a better record in all the above parameters discussed. CGC Landran is a cost-effective college which offers best if compared to Chitkara University Himachal Campus. Between CU and CGC, CU is the main campus and it offers better facilities. But the final choice still will lie with prospective students as factors such as connectivity from home and cost of attendance should also be taken into consideration before joining.
