My cousin is currently in the second year of his course at Karunya University. This answer is based on his experience as a fresher at the university.
These are some of the things that you should know as a frasher.
Karunya University is a Christian minority institution, but it treats everyone with the same respect. There is no partiality between the students of different religions. There are students from all over India so you can expect an extremely diverse experience.
Such multicultural exposure is very beneficial in the long run. Moreover, its serene location makes it a heaven for nature lovers.
Whether a university is good or not depends on a lot of factors and also your expectations. You need to check for their NAAC accreditations, AICTE approval status, NIRF ranking, placement records of 4-5 years, fee, infrastructure, college reputation, academic standards including faculty, and many more.
You should preferably choose a similarly ranked college and find out how Karunya University fits. As for admissions, Karunya University conducts its own entrance exam called Karunya Entrance Examination (KEE) every year for admissions in its B.Tech programs.
There is no management quota present at the university as it was abolished in 2012.
If you want to live in a place that is close to a river, has a beautiful campus and the climate of the city and region should be good, then Karunya is definitely a good university campus.
One of my friends graduated from Karunya University and he was enrolled in the 1st batch of Aerospace Engineering and was hesitant about the same. However, later on, the department has improved and now it offers great opportunities.
You can definitely go for Aerospace Engineering at Karunya University. It will be worth it.
The admission process at Karunya University is very simple. To secure a seat at the university, you will need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.
For the application form, you can either contact the office of the university or can visit the website of the university and fill-up the form. After that, you will have to make a payment of Rs. 51000. This amount includes Rs.50000 as the first-semester fee; the rest Rs. 1000 is the application fee.
After completing this process, you will get a provisional admission.
The study time at Karunya University is from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm on working days and 9.30 pm to 10.30 pm on holidays.
The study time may seem very long from 8:30 am till 5.20 pm but you will have many free hours in between. There might be no classes in the morning session or in the afternoon session some days. Moreover, the timetable varies from person to person depending on the subjects they have opted for.
Hope this helps you!
The least amount of tax deduction is done while making payments via NEFT/RTGS so, it is the best method of fee payment.
The other available options are as follows.
These are the ways in which you can pay the fees at Karunya University.
Ragging does exist at Karunya University but on an extremely small scale. There would be an optimum amount of ragging which would not exceed a certain limit. My brother is currently in the third year of his graduate program at Karunya University. During the first year of college, he faced ragging from his seniors. The ragging he faced can be considered to be healthy. The ragging also helped my brother in making connections at the university and in getting associated with several seniors that were helpful up till his third year of college.
A few of the seniors he interacted with during his first years made him sing, dance, write poems, short stories, and narrate for documentaries. These can be considered to be the negative aspect of the ragging he faced. Nevertheless, the positive aspect was that many of them assisted and guided him about not only his career but they gave him useful insights into the various stages of life.
All of this does not sound very critical, but ragging is considered a criminal offense in India and is prohibited. As per what my brother told me, a prevention cell to help out students is there at the university. If the situation becomes intolerable, you can always reach out to the prevention cell or contact the concerned authorities of the university.
The entrance examination conducted by Karunya University is not that difficult. My friend scored 80 marks in the JEE Main examinations. The syllabus includes a few additional topics that are not included in the curriculum of classes 11th and 12th in the Indian education system.
He attempted the examination and started with the section of mathematics. After he attempted a few questions from the mathematics sections, he moved to the physics section. He was not able to crack the solutions for many of the questions from the section of physics. However, He still kept trying and successfully solved around 70 percent of the questions from Physics. For his set, the section of Chemistry was extremely difficult. He attempted 50% of the questions from the Chemistry section.
The next section he attempted was of logical reasoning. He solved all the questions from this section leaving out around 1-2 questions. Then he continued his examination with the Ethics section. He answered 2 questions out of 10 and from them one was a guess.
He found the examination to be pretty easy. He later found out from someone that only students who have secured a rank above 1000 in the examination would be considered for the admission process of the university.
The Management at Karunya University keeps changing. Every VC has their own opinions although they follow the same principles.
So it’s impossible to know what he expects from you. You have to be prepared for all scenarios.
