How do I convert a percentage to CGPA under the rules at Pune University?

KG
Kritika Ghose Posted On : September 28th, 2021
Studied at Savitribai Phule Pune University

One of my friends has completed his graduation in the year 2015 from PU. He was planning to apply for a master’s in a foreign country. While searching for colleges, he observed that different countries had different grading point requirements for India. Also, some universities accept the scores in percentage.

International Credential Evaluation and World Education Services offer evaluation of marks for the many USA and Europe Universities. For applying in Canada and Germany, you don’t need to convert your marks to GPA or CGPA.

After the year 2015, PU had started a new grading system for engineering. It is either in CGPA (out of 10) or Grade point (out of 4). One circular has also been issued by PU in the year 2018 about the conversion of CGPA into percent of marks by the following formula.

% of marks = CGPA * 8.80

This is only valid for the students who received their degrees after 2016. For the students who passed in 2015 and under, you will need to contact your college authorities.

How do I study for LLB exams and get good marks Im in LLB 1st year since 2 years? How do I write papers from Pune University?

SG
Sakshi Gupta Posted On : September 29th, 2021
LLM in Master of Laws & Corporate Law,Symbiosis Law School,Pune (2020)

Exams are simple to pass, however gaining necessary information is a little tougher. It's the right technique to make your concepts obvious, mentioning sections and focusing on the bare act. Doing the following would be a lot easier method:

  • Classroom lectures are always the most effective.
  • Making running notes entails writing down what you believe is important.
  • Choose a standard reading book (textbook/reference book) for each subject.
  • This is the only book you should read if you want to pass your examinations.
  • An author’s book, often known as a "Commentary," would be beneficial for conceptual clarity as well as legal expertise and terminology.

Presentation is another useful tool. You could present the answer in your own distinct style. Make a clear format for how you'll write your answers. The following is an example of a possible response:

  • A brief introduction (A line or two introducing the answer to the question)
  • The case's/facts questions (if any)
  • Provision of the law (Includes Section, Article, Clause if you know it)
  • The inference made by you (the actual answer that is examined)
  • Jurisprudence (if any)
  • Conclusion

If the issue is for lower marks, your structure can be simplified, but the Section, Article, Clause, and Case law should still be included.

If recalling Sections and other details is tough, focus on the most important ones. When a topic is presented, the rest of the book can be read leisurely with consistent and pertinent references.

What is meant by the result held in reserve for the previous year by Pune University?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 18th, 2023

The term "result held in reserve" at Pune University is typically used to refer to a situation where the university has not released the official results of a particular examination or test. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as

  • a delay in the grading process
  • a need for further review or investigation
  • concern about the integrity of the results

One of my friends faced a similar situation. He had appeared for his Eighth Semester as well as Tenth Semester since he had a backlog subject from my 4th year. His result was kept in reserve because despite being able to clear the final year, he could not clear his backlog subject from the 4th year. So your result could also be held in reserve at Pune University for the same reason.

Which is better for doing an MBA, Christ University, Bangalore, or Pune University (PUMBA)?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : May 4th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Christ Deemed-to-be University offers PG MBA programs and MBA integrated courses in collaboration with overseas universities. The highest offer was INR 21.46 LPA in the 2022 placement report.

Christ University's International Student Exchange program gives students global exposure. It offers this option for students to learn from peers abroad.

Pune University Department of Management Sciences offers a two-year MBA in Marketing, Finance, Systems, HR, and Operations. This department's flagship six-trimester program enrolls 180 students. The highest offer was INR 18 LPA in the 2022 placement report.

The top reasons to choose PUMBA are

  • ROI: MBA returns in India are decent. PUMBA is excellent. Its two-year tuition is Rs. 135,000. Last year's PUMBA average salary was Rs 5.5 lakh. The top 50% of packages exceed 6.5 lakhs. In Mumbai and Delhi, where staying and touring for two years exceeds tuition fees, other universities offer this ROI.
  • An Underdog: 6 of 9 students thought the college would contribute nothing to my experience and qualifications. But now I know my maximum value will be here. My friends who joined before and after us are the same.
  • Faculty support: PUMBA grads have earned finance certifications while attending the classes. B-school's busy timetable makes such time luxury challenging. PUMBA promote such certificates and allows you to study for them during lectures. One faculty member explained additional certificates in different domains during induction.
  • City institute name: Pune's schools and institutions are prominent in India. Its management school reputation is low. However, the city has several company offices. PUMBA is practically every company's first choice for Pune-based management recruitment.

How should I apply for engineering in Pune university? I am from Chennai

HS
Hrithik Singh Posted On : June 19th, 2021
ECE at Pune University 2021

Initially, to determine your admission, you have to appear for the JEE Main entrance examination. You could also appear for the MHT - CET whose grades are also seen to be considered. This exam is comparatively easier to crack.

Only after you appear for either of these examinations, you should then use your scores to later apply to the CAP that would help allot an engineering seat to you.

Most essentially, you should have also scored 50% or above in your higher secondary examination in subjects concerning Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and the additional elective.

For instance, various other institutes like Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering and Symbiosis Institute of Technology have reserved their own entrance exams for admission purposes.

Savitribai Phule Pune University is the best option among this for an MSc in Mathematics. Pune University is old and well-reputed. Science faculty of this university is great. You will have more options for your MSc project. SPPU is well known for its research interface.

IIT Mandi and NIT Jaipur offer the advantages of brand value. But these institutes are mostly known for their Applied Science courses.
