Which is the best among IIM Lucknow, Kozhikode, FMS and MDI (mainly in terms of placement and learning)? Commerce background with good academic background and 3 years experience.

Having read some reviews online about IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, FMS, and MDI, here are some things I got to know which might be useful to you.

  • IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode both are older brands. They have a proper recruiter base, alumni network, campus life, infrastructure, and better placements.
  • FMS also offers low-cost and decent placement facilities, but students of FMS claim to have no campus life and any eventful experience.
  • MDI is considered to be decent. Thankfully they have a better and more happening campus life, unlike FMS. Bain Capability Network recruits at MDI while Bain & Co. go to the other mentioned colleges.

So the order of preference would be IIM Lucknow > IIM Kozhikode > FMS > MDI. This is as per the major rankings including Times B-School categorization. So select the one that matches most of your interests.

When it comes to preparing for an interview, it's natural to feel overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. However, it's important to remember that with the right approach, you can ace your interview and make a great impression on your potential employer.

Firstly, it's essential to focus on your academic knowledge and aptitude, as these are often key factors that employers consider while hiring. Take the time to review your academic records and refresh your memory on key concepts.

In addition to this, it's important to pay attention to your personality and how you present yourself in the interview. This can include things like body language, tone of voice, and communication skills. Consider practicing with a friend or family member to get feedback on how you come across in a professional setting.

While it's true that current affairs may not come up in the interview, it's always a good idea to stay informed and up-to-date on relevant news and trends in your industry. When it comes to preparing for the interview, take advantage of resources like past interview experiences and do's and don'ts guides. These can provide valuable insights into what to expect and how to best present yourself.

Even if you're unsure if you want to join the company, it's always a good idea to attend the interview and keep your options open. If you are selected, you can then make an informed decision based on your experience during the interview process.

With the right preparation and mindset, you can approach your interview with confidence and increase your chances of landing the job. Focus on your academic knowledge, aptitude, and personality, stay informed on current affairs and take advantage of available resources to make the most of the opportunity.

Should an IIT Delhi graduate in B.Tech mechanical join IIM Kozhikode with 2 years of analyst experience and with a salary of 14 lacs?

If you are looking for institutes on the basis of what ROI they are offering then do not go for IIM Kozhikode. It is a good institute of course but for someone who graduated from IIT Delhi, IIM Kozhikode may not meet their expectations.

However, if you are unfazed by the course fee that involves getting admission to IIM Kozhikode then you would be making a very good choice.

Also, you need to ask yourself why you want to do an MBA. If it is because you want to switch your career from technical to managerial roles then choosing IIM Kozhikode will be a good option.

If you're considering between MDI Gurgaon and IIM Kozhikode, it would be suggested to go with MDI Gurgaon. Here are some facts to consider:

Firstly, when it comes to faculty, MDI Gurgaon has a larger number of faculty members, with 75 plus members, while IIM Kozhikode has 63. This could potentially mean a more diverse and extensive range of courses and subjects.

In terms of placement packages, MDI Gurgaon has a competitive record. The average package offered during MDI Gurgaon placements in 2022 was INR 26.2 LPA, and the average packages offered in 2021 and 2022 were INR 22.05 LPA and INR 23.15 LPA, respectively. While the highest and median packages offered during the 2022 placement drive of IIM Kozhikode were higher at INR 61.5 LPA and INR 26.5 LPA, respectively, MDI Gurgaon's average packages are still competitive.

Additionally, MDI Gurgaon has a more extensive alumni network than IIM Kozhikode, which can be beneficial in terms of career opportunities and networking.

When it comes to fees, MDI Gurgaon's PGP program is more expensive, costing 17.15 lacs, while IIM Kozhikode's PGP program costs 14 lacs. However, this difference in fees could be outweighed by the potential benefits of studying at MDI Gurgaon.

Lastly, it's worth noting that MDI Gurgaon is based in Delhi NCR, which is the capital of India, while IIM Kozhikode is based in Kozhikode, Kerala. This could potentially impact your overall experience and opportunities, depending on your personal preferences and career goals.

Why do people from Kozhikode prefer Mangalore for education despite having IIM and NIT?

AS
Ayush Sehgal Posted On : November 29th, 2022
Student

Yes, despite having IIM and NIT, Kozhikode residents prefer Mangalore for education. That could be due to Mangalore's studious-yet-stress-free environment.

That could be due to Mangalore's studious-yet-stress-free environment. People in Mangalore differ from the nerds at IIM, IIT, or NIT who are always studying. There's also a disciplined approach to life there. They eat when they need to, sleep when they are required to, study when they have to, and have fun when it is possible. Unlike the IIM nerds, who have no concept of fun or sleep and keep on studying even while doing other stuff.

To get into IIM or NIT, you must work extremely hard, as nearly 60% of the brightest students in India aspire to attend IIM/NIT. As a result, there is intense competition. The exam is entirely merit-based (in addition, seat reservations are aplenty).

No matter whether you study inboth programs. It entirely depends on your interest in the subject. If you are interested in agriculture or in the food sector then think nothing and go for the FABM program but if you are not interested in this field then you can go with the general PGP program at IIM Indore or Kozhikode.

How do I make sure to get admission at IIM Kozhikode provided I have a profile of X-91, XII-89, B.Tech (EEE)-65, and also a GEM fresher?

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2020)

The IIMs generally have a 2-3 stage process of admission but IIM Kozhikode follows an admission process that is a 3 stage one. It is described as follows:

  • The candidates are shortlisted for stage 2 on the basis of their overall percentile in CAT and the sectional percentiles. Currently, the cutoff for the candidates in the General category is 85 percentile and that for the sectional percentile is 75 percentile.
  • The candidates who are shortlisted for the second stage are further shortlisted on the basis of their Aggregate Index Score or AIS. This composite score is based on factors such as work experience, scores in academics, diversity in academics, and/or gender. This year, the AIS has laid stress on the CAT percentile, class 12 board exam score, and academic diversity.
  • The third round comprises the WAT-PI round. The four components of this stage are the scores of CAT, Personal Interview, Essay, and Resume. A final shortlist is prepared by keeping in mind the composite score that is obtained by the addition of the scores of the respective components.

The required percentile changes every year so it is difficult what percentile will ensure a call. So, keep a target of 99 percentile, to be safe.

Keep yourself up to date in general knowledge, HR-based questions, academics, current affairs to stand out in the interviews. Work experience is also a big plus.

I have 4 years of work experience in e-commerce. Is the IIM Kozhikode EPGP beneficial for me? As opposed to other IIMs its a 2-year course.

UG
Unmesh Ganguly Posted On : September 14th, 2021
MBA in Marketing & Information Systems ,Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (2020)

The profile you have will suit the two-year (hybrid model) EPGP program. If you do not wish to leave your job then this course can be good for you. Otherwise, you can go for full-time programs of one year at IIM ABC, SP Jain, or ISB. These are currently some of the top one-year programs.

E-commerce has gained a lot of popularity over the years and the scope is tremendous. Having work experience before joining an IIM will always get you plus points.

You will have good placement opportunities in IIM Kozhikode. The recruiters who visit the institute also offer very attractive packages. The average package is also high which makes the ROI manageable. If you take EMI it can be paid easily in five years. Internship opportunities are also provided to the students.
