One of my friends studies atSVNIT. To him it is a very good college and studying here is completely worth it.
- All the students of the first year second semester went on a college trip to Kerala. It is also known as God's Own Country for its beauty.
- They got to visit the Kolukkumalai Hills.
- Every semester a cricket tournament was held and it was named as Manoj Memorable Night cricket Tournament. This tournament became a tradition in this college.
- The college fest is a five-day program and there were many functions which were held throughout these days.
These days and events are a very important part of college life as it helps in interactions and exposure. Hence, SVNIT Surat is a great college where you will get to explore and learn many things along with your academics and here you will get one of the best experiences of our life.
Which is better SVNIT chemical or Nirma computer?
You should opt for SNVIT chemical. If you are inclined towards it and the placements are very decent with many recruiting companies. You will find a diverse environment here and will develop bonds and learn many new things. Also, the fests are one of the major attractions that give you a great experience of college life with new challenges whether you are in an organizing team or participating team. At the same time, the JEE ranking should be high enough to get admission to opt for chemical.
If you are interested in CS, then you should score 9.4+ in your first year. But if you have not studied CS before especially programming languages then it would be a very hard nut to crack. You can work on your weak topics in 1st year as nothing much is taught. If you are in Nirma then you would miss the college and hostel life, the best memories of college life.
If you like chemical engineering then go for it, never get trapped by the fickle-mindedness of people in society. Since in India, the tag of your college determines your intelligence level and capabilities so if you compare SVNIT Chemical with Nirma CSE, I would suggest SVNIT due to the opportunities it provides.
Which should I prefer, SVNIT mechanical or IIIT Vadodara computer science?
If you are not looking at the branch, then you should think about going to SVNIT for Mechanical. Having friends study in both the institutes, I might be able to provide some details about them.
However, if you have decided that you would like to go for computers and if you could handle that field, IIIT Vadodara is a pretty good choice.
But many people will also advise you to not compare the two branches as they are quite different. NIT Surat is a better option facility wise but let me tell you that getting a job in the mechanical core is quite difficult. A lot of students will also opt for software fields.

One of my friends studied Computer Engineering at SVNIT Surat. He said it is the most sought-after branch among all the departments in the institute, having several advantages in placement, peer-to-peer learning, etc.
The points below provide a brief overview of the department of CE in SVNIT.
- The batch size of CE at SVNIT is 60. It supports excellent peer-to-peer learning.
- There are some excellent faculties, who are considered the finest among others in the institute. Along with the best, there are some average performing faculties too.
- The chance of foreign placement in SVNIT is almost nil, or sometimes one or two, which is very rare.
- The campus is excellent. The city of Surat is extremely beautiful and has a very healthy lifestyle.
- The facilities inside the campus are well maintained and greatly improved with time. Most of the buildings of SVNIT are new or recently modified.

Should I study IT from IIEST Shibpur or EC from SVNIT?
IT from IIEST Shibpur is a better choice than EC from SVNIT Surat. Both my classmates and I agree to the fact that IIEST Shibpur is a much better institute than SVNIT. The reasons for the same are given below –
- It is a common observation that many of the EC engineering graduates eventually work as software engineers, which is not their core domain.
- IT is very close to CSE in terms of coding and related works. You will definitely learn more in IT rather than EC even if you are interested in software.
- If you want you can learn software development and coding on your own, then go for the EC branch of SVNIT.
- But that will require a lot of effort, time management, and discipline.
- IT at IIEST, Shibpur will also give a mental satisfaction that you are working in the same field as intended while in EC at SVNIT you will probably have to join a job that is not related to your core EC subjects.
- Even if you are passionate about EC, the faculty in this department at SVNIT are not very good. They are too young for the job.
- Of course, there will be seniors and various clubs to help you out but faculty are at the core of any teaching system.

The hostel facilities offered are quite good. Hostel rooms are cleaned every week. There are facilities like Gym, mini computer lab, mini library, etc.
Which college is better: NIT Surat chemical or NIT Surathkal metallurgy?
Considering the opportunities which may get available for you in the future, I would suggest you go for Chemical Engineering at NIT Surat as it would be a better option over metallurgy. As my sister studied there, I am very well aware of the college and its pros and cons.

- Some of these PSUs which recruit from the college include BPCL, HPCL, IOCL, and COAL India.
- Many people consider NIT Surathkal to be better than NIT Surat based on incomplete information and the NIRF ranking released by the Ministry of Education, India.
