Which college is better between SIBM Bangalore and TAPMI? The average placements for both the colleges stand the same which makes the decision tough.

When comparing two B-Schools with similar placements, there are a couple of factors you should consider. Firstly, you should look at the batch size and the brand. TAPMI has a larger batch size compared to SIBM Bangalore, which may lead to more dilution in resource allocation.

On the other hand, a smaller batch size in two equally-matched B-Schools ensures batch quality. The second factor to consider is the brand of the B-School, which is something you should analyze on your own. It is important to understand the brand value of a B-School, as it reflects its reputation in the industry and the quality of education it provides. Ultimately, you should choose a B-School that aligns with your goals and aspirations, and provides you with the best opportunities to achieve them.

Is it worth it to study for an MBA in tier 3 colleges like TAPMI, BIM, or K J Somaiya?

KD
Krishna Dubey Posted On : January 6th, 2023
MBA from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) (Graduated 2019)

TAPMI and KJ Somaiya are tier 2 colleges. The primary reasons why KJ Somaniya is superior are listed below.

Location - Because KJ SIMSR is located in India's financial capital, companies can easily come in for recruitment. Because most companies have their headquarters in Mumbai, various CXOs can come in for informative guest lectures. You will also have access to a number of live projects to work on.

ROI - Fees are lower when compared to TAPMI.

Faculty - The majority of the faculty members have a Ph.D. or are pursuing one, which helps shape your knowledge.

Infrastructure includes a 60-acre campus with an Olympic-size running track, an open chess board, multiple auditoriums, AC classrooms, an amphitheater, multiple libraries, and other amenities.

In terms of rankings, it all comes down to perception and the methodologies used by various evaluating agencies, so a TIER 1 in one ranking may be a TIER 3 in another.

During KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MBA placements 2022, the highest and average packages offered were INR 26.50 LPA and INR 10.97 LPA, respectively. Furthermore, during KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MBA placements in 2022, the placement rate was 99%. In addition, the highest and average packages offered during KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MCA placements 2022 were INR 11.50 LPA and INR 5.67 LPA, respectively. During the MCA placements at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management in 2022, the placement rate was 98%.

How good is TAPMI manipal for mba?

SD
Sagarika Dasgupta Posted On : April 14th, 2023
PGDM from TAPMI

TAPMI is a private B-School situated in Manipal, Karnataka. Accredited by the AACSB, AMBA, and NBA, TAPMI is popular for its emphasis on leadership development, as well as its focus on healthcare management and rural management. Let’s discuss the worth and credibility of the institute based on some common parameters

  • Faculty: The faculty is highly knowledgeable and most professors have amazing experience in their area of expertise. I would grade it a ?.
  • Placements: TAPMI has been boasting of 10% placements for many years. This year too it concluded an excellent placement drive with the highest CTC at INR 32.2 LPA and average CTC at INR 12.5 LPA. The top recruiters included Accenture, AB InBev, Capgemini, HCL, and Cognizant. However, it’s worth mentioning that the kind of role and package you will be offered depends on your profile and performance.
  • Student Committees: There are a plethora of committees to choose from and not being a part of one will also not affect you negatively at all.
  • Explore: TAPMI has some excellent places to hang out from bars and pubs to eat outs. Additionally, there are top notch sports and gym facilities,
  • Academics: When it comes to discipline and academics, TAPMI is very strict. Students are not allowed to go outside the campus after 11: 30 pm. Indiscipline is not tolerated in any form and any rules broken are punished by suspension or dismissal. The 100% attendance criteria add to the overall misery as lack of attendance affects your grades to a great extent.

Overall, Manipal is a place that will be missed by many!

For someone who is a fresher and also from a non engineering background, it might be a difficult task to convert a call from TAPMI but it is not impossible. He/she will have to compete with people with experience or a technical background. He/she should be expecting more questions on academic record, personal skills, and strengths.

Below are some general suggestions;

  • Be truthful, confident and more participative.

Some don'ts are;

  • Don’t be late and lackluster.

Should freshmen take a 15 lakh bank loan, and study for an MBA in TAPMI or KJ SOMAIYA?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 27th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Let us understand this scenario with a simple calculation

  • Loan Amount - 15 lakhs
  • Interest rate - 12%
  • Repayment period - 5 years
  • EMI - 33,367
  • Total Interest Paid in 5 years - 502000
  • Tax saved in 5 years (considering a 20% tax slab) - 100400
  • Net amount paid in 5 years - 1500000+502000–100400 = 19,01,600
  • Average package in Tapmi- 15 LPA
  • Monthly In hand- 97.5k to 1 lakh

It will leave you with approx. 45 to 50K in hand every month, which is good enough to survive in any city in India.

Considering an 8% annual increment, after 5 years your salary would be 22.03 LPA, making it approximately 1.84 LPA per month.

I feel it is worth the money you are going to spend. It is always better to take a loan for your MBA.

How good is an MBA in HR in Tapmi, the salary package and everything?

DP
Daksh Prajapati Posted On : April 20th, 2023

Tapmi has state-of-the-art facilities. Each and every student has a Medicare card through which he can access all the facilities at the recognized hospitals at very affordable prices. (Some of them are even free of cost). College, however, lacks cricket and football ground but is well compensated by other sports facilities.

Majority of the teachers have more than 10 years of teaching experience as well as industry experience. Case studies, role plays, simulations (few subjects), labs, class discussions became part of the teaching methods. If the subject demands, an industry expert is called to bridge the gap between academics and the industry to enhance learning.

The average stipend for the internship stood at 60,000 and the maximum was at 2,00,000. More than 90% of students were placed in leading national as well as MNCs procuring good roles. Companies like Elli Lilly, Diageo, L&T, Capgemini, and Yes Bank. Overall, the course seems to be doing well.

How is TAPMI, Manipal?

DP
Daksh Prajapati Posted On : May 14th, 2021
Studied at TAPMI, Manipal

TAPMI has made great strides in recent years. It is a great B-Schools with a beautiful campus located in the city of Manipal. I have a friend at the institute and here is his unbiased opinion about the institute.

Infrastructure:

  • There are a well-equipped library and computer lab. Although it does not have its own auditorium. The hostel room is average with all the basic amenities. To accommodate students classes are conducted in two shifts.
  • The food provided at the mess is not great but you have the option to choose from different vendors. Although that can be a bit costly. Mess charges are not considered in the fee.
  • Sports facilities are average at best. There is a Cricket field but it gets flooded often due to heavy rainfalls in Manipal.

Faculty: The faculty base is average. Some of the faculty members are great and quite cooperative. The administration is very strict about rules.

Rules & Regulations: The institute is quite strict about its rules and regulations. There are strict protocols to follow for night outs, taking holidays to go home and curfew timings. Students also have to maintain a strict dress code.

Campus Life: As long as you stay on campus, you can hang out with your friends till late. There are a few fest and events but these are not that great as compared to other colleges.

Placements:

When it comes to placements the institute is a few disadvantages, i.e. location, large batch size. TAPMI offers 100% placement although the average CTC is a bit inflated especially for the summer placements. The profiles offered at placements are average. Students do get internship offers a lot of these internships do not offer stipends.

Alumni Base: It has a great alumni base. TAPMI has made CMOs and CFOs.

Overall, TAPMI is a good B-School with decent infrastructure and facilities. However, it lacks behind in terms of two crucial factors i.e. location and batch strength.

You must set your sights on an excellent school for TAPMI. You have a very good chance of getting a call from TAPMI if you have an 80 percentile+ CAT score, a good academic profile, and 20 months of IT experience. Not only that, but if your interview goes well, you have a good chance of converting. TAPMI seeks candidates with strong academic credentials.

TAPMI applications are processed entirely online. The application fee is INR 2,000 for up to two programs and INR 4,000 and 6,000 for up to three and four programs, respectively.

Is getting admission in TAPMI difficult?

DP
Daksh Prajapati Posted On : May 25th, 2023
Studied at TAPMI, Manipal

TAPMI has an admission process like any other Indian B-school. You have a have to graduation degree with atleast 50% to be eligible for the admission process. TAPMI considers CAT, XAT, and NMAT and they release the individual cutoffs in the month of month of January.

The final selection of the candidates is based on the following:

Category

% Weightage

Score in Entrance Test (CAT/XAT/GMAT/NMAT)

35

Score for Academic Performance (in 10th, 12th, Graduation)

15

Group Discussion/Personal Interview

45

Weightage for Gender Diversity & Extra Curricular

05

Total

100

TAPMI usually doesn’t roast its candidates during the interview process. The faculty are really well groomed and calm and they only ask relevant questions.

If CAT/XAT cutoffs are usually around 85+ for Freshers and 80+ for candidates with work experience.
