Which college should I choose, KJ Somaiya, the IMI Delhi, the Fore School of Management or the Lal Bahadur Shastri in Delhi to pursue an MBA?

DV
Dev Varma Posted On : March 15th, 2023
Studied at the FORE School of Management

When it comes to choosing between different institutes for an MBA, there are a lot of factors to consider beyond just ROI, fees, and CTC.

Firstly, think about the specialization you want to pursue. Each institute may have a different focus, such as IMI's dedicated HR course, FORE's marketing program, or LBS's finance specialization. Do your research and make sure you choose an institute that aligns with your career goals.

When considering placements, don't just focus on the CTC or the recruiting companies. Instead, look at the profile that is being offered. There is a big difference between an area manager role and a sales executive role, for example. Make sure the profile is something that interests you and aligns with your career aspirations.

Talking to alumni can also be a helpful way to gauge the exposure and opportunities offered by each institute. Reach out to alumni from different institutes to get a better understanding of what each one offers and which may be the best fit for you.

Ultimately, how you perform in the program will matter much more than which institute you choose. Put in the effort and work hard to make the most of your time in the program, and you will set yourself up for success in your future career.

Which is better between Fore PGDM-IB or TAPMI PGDM?

AG
Abhiroop Ghose Posted On : April 17th, 2022
PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2019)

If you are interested in pursuing International Business, then FORE will be a better option, otherwise, TAPMI PGDM is better.

  • FORE offers many electives to choose from. Even though you will be specializing in IB, you can choose electives like Business Communication, Information Technology, etc. So, you won’t be choosing a niche area.
  • It has an institutional membership with professional societies like EPSI, BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry, AMDISA, etc. for student chapters.
  • FORE has MoUs with universities like Anglia Ruskin University, Northampton University, etc. for student exchange programs, research, and other academic reasons.
  • It offers placements in top recruiting companies like KPMG, Accenture, Deloitte, Ernest & Young, etc. As per the placement highlights of 2022, the average CTC offered at FORE was INR 11.4 LPA
  • TAPMI is among the very few institutes in India to have AACSB accreditation.
  • TAPMI alumni are working in responsible managerial positions worldwide.
  • As per TAPMI placements of 2022, the average CTC offered was INR 12.6 LPA, and the highest CTC was INR 32.2 LPA.

You should choose FORE or TAPMI based on the specialization you want to pursue.

KP
Kausik Pal Posted On : September 4th, 2020
IMI International Masonry Institute (2020)

FORE School of Management is approved by AICTE on the other hand IMI Delhi is approved by AICTE, NBA and AIU. Both of them were established in the year 1981 and provide good quality programs to their students. According to NIRF rankings IIIM was ranked #28 whereas FORE was ranked #43.

Intake process:

FORE School of Management:

  • The process of admissions in this institution is a bit lengthy. The candidate is shortlisted on the basis of scores obtained in CAT/GMAT/XAT exams.
  • After the shortlisting the students will be required to appear in: Written Ability Test (WAT), Business Awareness Quiz (BA-Q) and Extempore and Personal Interview (PI)
  • The final selection is considered on the basis of marks the applicant has obtained in CAT/GMAT/XAT, WAT, Business quiz, Extempore, Personal Interview, Academic performance and work experience.

IMI Delhi:

The selection process of applicants takes place in the following manner:

  • In the same way shortlisting of candidates is done on the basis of CAT or GMAT scores.
  • Followed by a written test, requiring the applicants to write an essay.
  • The last round of the process consists of an interview and extempore.
  • Then the student is qualified based on the performances in all the rounds.

Both the institutions have highly qualified faculties. FORE has a longer process of selection which might make it a selective institution, having limited seats for PGDM courses and hard to get in. On the other hand IMI doesn’t have that lengthy process as compared to FORE. More the number of companies recruiting the institution will automatically result in more number of students getting placed.

Which is better, siib-ib pune, fore or tapmi?

PJ
Preeti Jain Posted On : December 27th, 2021
PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2020)

While choosing a college for MBA, there are some primary and secondary factors that need to be considered. College brand name, peer-group, placements, specialization of your choice should be the primary factor for making the decision. While the secondary factors of concern are faculty, location, facilities provided, and other factors like infrastructure, international trips, etc.

TAPMI will be the better choice among the other two because of the following factors.

Brand: (Winning Institution - TAPMI)

All three colleges TAPMI, FORE, and SIIB are all well-reputed brands and have rich experience in this field. Here TAPMI has a slight edge over SIIB and FORE.

  • NIRF 2020 has ranked TAPMI 27 for MBA.
  • FORE School of Management is ranked 43 for MBA by NIRF 2020.
  • SIIB Pune does not have a NIRF ranking but it has been ranked 43 for MBA by IndiaToday 2019.

Faculty:

All these colleges have experienced faculty with years of experience and it all comes down to the student to perform well.

Location:

Location wise FORE has a clear advantage as it is located in Delhi. SIIB located in Pune comes second and TAPMI has a slight disadvantage due to its location in Manipal.

Placements: (Winning Institution - TAPMI)

  • In this case, TAPMI has an edge over the other two for the batch of 2019 the highest package offered was 25 LPA, while the average package was 11.05 LPA.
  • In FORE for the 2020 batch, the highest package offered was 30 LPA and the average package was 10.6 LPA.
  • In SIIB International Business for the 2020 batch, the highest domestic package offered was 17 LPA and the highest international package offered was 62.85 LPA. The average package offered was 10.78 LPA.

Considering the above-mentioned factors TAPMI will be the best choice as it offers a wide range of opportunities compared to the other two. SIIB will be the next best option followed by FORE.
