The institutes NSIT as well as DTU both are tier 1 colleges and among the best engineering colleges of India. Hence, it is quite difficult to say which one is best among MCE at DTU and ICE at NSIT. ICE branch provides opportunities to students in both Hardware and Software whereas MCE is more aligned towards software industries. The students from MCE have ample opportunities in either finance or pure mathematics and programming. The packages that the students get at MCE in DTU is similar to that of ICE at NSIT.

Instrumentation and Control Engineering in NSIT is an older branch than Mathematics and Computing Engineering in DTU. As far as placement of these branches is concerned almost all Tech companies allow both ICE and MCE students to take part in their internship and placement test with a required percentage criteria but that depends upon company to company.

Placement at NSIT is quite good, more than 100 companies visit the campus for placement drive. The average salary offered is around 7-8 LPA. The 2019 placement highlights for DTU show a total of 70 students got placed from the MCE department, whereas the no of offers received was 93. The highest CTC offered to the students of this branch was around 39 LPA.

Among the ones mentioned, DTU should be your first choice for pursuing CS. Many reasons support DTU over others. First of all, the coding culture at DTU is unparalleled. Although IIIT Delhi, IIIT Allahabad, and NIT Calicut have a reputed “IIT” and “IIIT” tag, they suffer from their own cons. Their campuses are quite small and do not conduct ample extracurricular activities. Besides, the alumni base of IIITs is quite small as compared to DTU. Though they do provide an impressive coding culture, DTU still stands taller. NIT Calicut, on the other hand, has an outdated curriculum and the hostel facilities are dilapidated. It all depends on your requirements. For example

• If placement is the priority, then opting for IT would be better as it has more placement options.
• If city and campus life is a priority, then Delhi i.e., NSIT is a better place as compared to MNNIT Allahabad.
• If the course is the priority, then no doubt IT is much better than ICE (irrespective of the college).

Now according to all the facts mentioned above, the program that should be chosen depends only on the individual. Everybody has a different way of thinking and a place of interest. So they can choose whatever fulfills their requirements as both of them are renowned institutions.

If you wish to work in the government sector, there are very few jobs in CSE but if you want to go for corporate work life, you should go with CSE.

Considering placements, if you opt for CS at NSUT, the average package at NSUT is around 14 LPA and the median package is around 8 LPA considering some international offers which increase the average package by a huge amount. In IIT Bhubaneshwar, people from Civil get jobs in both core and software companies. The packages range from 6 LPA to 39 LPA with an average somewhere around 11.4 LPA.

The campus life at IIT Bhubaneshwar is better as compared to that at NSUT. There are three fests, many science, and non-technical clubs, etc. There are E-classrooms in the campus with faculty to student ratio of around 15:1. The infrastructure, being newly built, is quite impressive with good classrooms and hostels.
