One of my friends is a recent alumnus of the institute and can better represent his views regarding the same. Having studied at PES University Bangalore for two years, he mentions after gauging the overall faculty of the institute as well as the candidates who enlist via management seats, that PES University is unfortunately not the best.
Speaking in terms of the overall situation, the choice you are approaching might not be the best. It is suggested that you do not take admission in the institute if your overall goal is to learn the best in your course.
Having friends at IEM Kolkata, I can say that this question is similar to the debate between IT and CS.
My friend got PESIT but did not opt for it, instead, he went for IEM. If he had chosen PESIT, he would have to push himself all the time to achieve his goals.
Life at any university has its hurdles and it can be uncertain initially. But my cousin, who used to be a student at PES University, told me that it eventually turns out to be one of the most memorable times in one’s life.
He came across professors who were supportive. He and his classmates also tried to participate in a number of events organized by the university in the first semester.
RV College of Engineering (RVCE) is definitely better than PES University. The below table shows the placement stats of the B.Tech programs of both colleges for the year 2020.
Institute | PES University | RV College of Engineering |
Number of companies visited | - | 245 |
Number of offers made | 1185 | 1336 |
Highest salary | INR 49.75 lakhs per annum | INR 49.75 lakhs per annum |
Median salary | INR 6.50 lakhs per annum | INR 8.50 lakhs per annum |
RVCE additionally states that the CSE branch received 250 job offers in the year 2020. Apart from the usual mass recruiters many top MNCs such as Hyundai, Mercedes, Volvo, Intel, and Microsoft, etc. also visit the campus for placements.
Along with that, there are many other factors that make RVCE better than PES University –
So you can join RVCE without any second thought and you will not regret your decision.
The food facilities at PES University are not bad. Let me share my friend’s experience and provide you some details about the food at PES University.
The food is quite expensive as well. For example, if you want South Indian cuisine, the hostel mess is pretty reasonable. While, for North Indian cuisine, it is “Namdhari.” You can also go outside of the campus to avail other food services. My friend studied and availed food from the hostel and says that it is not the best when compared to the other two.
Usually, the placement starts at the end of summer vacation after the 6th semester, around the end of July. Companies start visiting for recruitment from the start of fourth year. Some companies that offer internships to 3rd-year students, may offer pre-placement options to some students. You can expect placement at PES University to start from the 6th semester.
PES University will be better for a management course. BMS and RNSIT are engineering colleges known for their technical degrees. PES University MBA fees are high, around INR 10 LPA. But this huge investment pays off eventually.
PES University has academic partnerships with Harvard University, IBM, Earnest & Young, etc. So, you will get great exposure and opportunities. The average CTC for MBA at PES is INR 3-4.8 LPA. HP, ITC, KPMG, and E&Y are some of the major recruiters.
iMTech IIIT Bangalore is better than a B.Tech CSE from PES.
Other than geat academics and placement, students of IIIT Bangalore also have a locational advantage. As the college is located in one of the IT ones of Bangalore, it's easy to get projects and internship opportunities.
Since I have friends pursuing Mechanical Engineering in both institutes, I can put their opinions in view. Both of them acknowledge the fact that the PES Electronic City campus is quite incomparable to Christ University, in terms of culture, academics, infrastructure, legacy, and factors alike.
All things considered, you should only opt for Christ University if you want to pursue Mechanical Engineering. If you can take responsibility for your own studies and can secure a job yourself, Christ University will be good for you.
In contrast, if you want to obtain good industry exposure and want the college to be a guiding force, then PES University will be a better choice.
Here are the latest placement highlights of both the institutes,

PES University is an autonomous university. The marking system of the college is good. IS branch in RSIT is good. The college offers 98% placement to its students. The college is affiliated with VDU.
The evaluation process of this university is not good. But the college will help you in gaining knowledge. PES university will be good for you if you want to take the mechanical branch. CS and IS students get good placements in the RNSIT college. The highest package has gone to INR 10 LPA in companies like Amazon.
