Is it a good choice to pursue an MBA from PES University, Bangalore through a management seat?

AK
Araddhya Khanna Posted On : July 5th, 2021
MBA (HRM) at XLRI Jamshedpur 2020 - 2022

One of my friends is a recent alumnus of the institute and can better represent his views regarding the same. Having studied at PES University Bangalore for two years, he mentions after gauging the overall faculty of the institute as well as the candidates who enlist via management seats, that PES University is unfortunately not the best.

  • The professors of the institute, excluding a few such as Mr. Brijesh and Mr. Deepak Shyam, are not great at par with several other top institutions like Christ University.
  • The professors do have the required industrial experience and hold degrees from top-tier institutes like IIM.
  • Moreover, he also says that the previous Dean of PES University was better than the recent one.
  • It is because he and most of the other students think that the present Dean is not completely attentive toward the problems or issues every second student faces.

Speaking in terms of the overall situation, the choice you are approaching might not be the best. It is suggested that you do not take admission in the institute if your overall goal is to learn the best in your course.

Is PESIT South Bangalore better than IEM Kolkata?

TB
Trish Banerjee Posted On : July 17th, 2021
B.Tech in ECE Department at Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (2020)

Having friends at IEM Kolkata, I can say that this question is similar to the debate between IT and CS.

  1. As a student of IEM, you will find the professors striving diligently for you. Growth in IT is determined by two things - how you make the most of the opportunities you are getting and how much effort you are willing to put in.
  2. You will get exposure to so many opportunities due to the presence of a number of organizations around you, PESIT would be an efficient choice.

My friend got PESIT but did not opt for it, instead, he went for IEM. If he had chosen PESIT, he would have to push himself all the time to achieve his goals.

How was your first semester at PES University?

AA
Ayush Agarwal Posted On : July 17th, 2021
completed B.Tech in Computer Science, PES University (2020)

Life at any university has its hurdles and it can be uncertain initially. But my cousin, who used to be a student at PES University, told me that it eventually turns out to be one of the most memorable times in one’s life.

  • You will probably be leaving your home for the first time in your life. You will visit your home during vacations and learn to make long-term decisions for yourself.
  • You will end up making friends who will be in your life till long after you graduate and some you will barely remember after completing the first year, if not the first semester.
  • My cousin made a lot of friends but he hardly gets the time to get in touch with them. Life takes us all in different ways.

He came across professors who were supportive. He and his classmates also tried to participate in a number of events organized by the university in the first semester.

Which college has better placements for CSE, RVCE or PES University?

SD
Samrat Dutta Posted On : July 3rd, 2021
B.Tech CSE, IIT BHU (2019)

RV College of Engineering (RVCE) is definitely better than PES University. The below table shows the placement stats of the B.Tech programs of both colleges for the year 2020.

Institute PES University RV College of Engineering
Number of companies visited - 245
Number of offers made 1185 1336
Highest salary INR 49.75 lakhs per annum INR 49.75 lakhs per annum
Median salary INR 6.50 lakhs per annum INR 8.50 lakhs per annum

RVCE additionally states that the CSE branch received 250 job offers in the year 2020. Apart from the usual mass recruiters many top MNCs such as Hyundai, Mercedes, Volvo, Intel, and Microsoft, etc. also visit the campus for placements.

Along with that, there are many other factors that make RVCE better than PES University –

  • Infrastructure - It is one of the oldest private engineering colleges in the state with lush green and well-maintained campus. Though it is not very big, it is located in the center of the city.
  • Faculty - The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:60 making learning quite easy. Most of them have done PhDs from elite institutes. The curriculum is well balanced and all the necessary equipment and lab are in proper shape.
  • Other - The college has the biggest IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) chapter in the whole of south India. The annual fest UTSAV is also very famous in the region.

So you can join RVCE without any second thought and you will not regret your decision.

How is the food at PES University?

PK
Pritika Kundan Posted On : June 19th, 2021
EEE at PES University (2020)

The food facilities at PES University are not bad. Let me share my friend’s experience and provide you some details about the food at PES University.

  • There are three messes available for students, namely, the Hotel mess, “Namdhari”, Food Point, and the Food Court.
  • Moreover, there are various kinds of food available for the Northern people since they are mostly in the habit of preferring northern cuisine like chapatis in both lunch and dinner.
  • Every other mess has similar kinds of chapatis, yet the side dishes vary from one mesh to another.
  • However, the Food Court is the most preferred one, since you will then be responsible to pay only during buying an item.
  • Most essentially, when discussing the two other messes, excluding the Food Court, they have mandated coupons of their own to avail for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a tea break in between course meals.
  • But, for the Food Court, the system is quite different. You will be given coupons that are worth Rs. 4100 and you are only required to pay Rs. 10 to buy each.
  • You can rather spend the amount in accordance with your everyday diet meal.

The food is quite expensive as well. For example, if you want South Indian cuisine, the hostel mess is pretty reasonable. While, for North Indian cuisine, it is “Namdhari.” You can also go outside of the campus to avail other food services. My friend studied and availed food from the hostel and says that it is not the best when compared to the other two.

Which among these MBA colleges are worth? PES university, BMS college or RNSIT?

RT
Riya Tiwari Posted On : April 7th, 2022
studied Master of Business Administration Degrees at RNS Institute of Technology

PES University will be better for a management course. BMS and RNSIT are engineering colleges known for their technical degrees. PES University MBA fees are high, around INR 10 LPA. But this huge investment pays off eventually.

PES University has academic partnerships with Harvard University, IBM, Earnest & Young, etc. So, you will get great exposure and opportunities. The average CTC for MBA at PES is INR 3-4.8 LPA. HP, ITC, KPMG, and E&Y are some of the major recruiters.

iMTech IIIT Bangalore is better than a B.Tech CSE from PES.

  • IIIT Bangalore has an amazing faculty base. The faculty members have completed their Ph.D. from top universities around the world like MIT, Stanford, Perdue, etc.
  • IIIT Bangalore has a tie-up with MIT. It has industry collaboration with CISCO, Samsung, etc. So, you will get good exposure.

Which college should I select for mechanical engineering, Christ University or PES Electronic City campus?

DP
Debrup Panigrahi Posted On : June 29th, 2021
Electrical Engineering (EE) at Jadavpur University (2019)

Since I have friends pursuing Mechanical Engineering in both institutes, I can put their opinions in view. Both of them acknowledge the fact that the PES Electronic City campus is quite incomparable to Christ University, in terms of culture, academics, infrastructure, legacy, and factors alike.

  • Having said that, Christ University, with regard to the industry exposure and pedagogy, is somewhat not up to the mark when compared to the PES University.
  • In addition, the laboratories and faculty of PES University are quite better as opposed to Christ University.
  • PES University, as my friend mention, is very strict, academics oriented and competitive. On the other hand, Christ University is much lenient and is not at all competitive.

All things considered, you should only opt for Christ University if you want to pursue Mechanical Engineering. If you can take responsibility for your own studies and can secure a job yourself, Christ University will be good for you.

In contrast, if you want to obtain good industry exposure and want the college to be a guiding force, then PES University will be a better choice.

Here are the latest placement highlights of both the institutes,

Institutes

PES University

Christ University

Total Number of Offers

Highest CTC

INR. 49 LPA

INR. 13.12 LPA

Lowest CTC

Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Amazon, Goldman Sachs

However, you should also know that both of these institutes as a whole have had a very good reputation and have an accomplished alumni base. Choosing either of them will not ultimately be a bad decision. But, in terms of getting better exposure, go for PES University.

Which is better if I am an IS aspirant, mechanical engineering in PES University or IS in RNSIT?

SV
Sushrut Vaibhav Posted On : July 13th, 2021
B.E from RNS Institute of Technology (2019)

PES University is an autonomous university. The marking system of the college is good. IS branch in RSIT is good. The college offers 98% placement to its students. The college is affiliated with VDU.

The evaluation process of this university is not good. But the college will help you in gaining knowledge. PES university will be good for you if you want to take the mechanical branch. CS and IS students get good placements in the RNSIT college. The highest package has gone to INR 10 LPA in companies like Amazon. The students who do not get placements in the first round are recruited by companies like Accenture and TCS in their mass recruitment drives.

The placement statistics of RNSIT college is as follows:

Total offers received 707
Overall placement percentage 73%
Total companies visited 101
Top recruiters Adobe, Infosys, Accenture, etc.
Average CTC INR 2.6 LPA-6.2 LPA.
Highest CTC offered INR 19 LPA.

The academics, infrastructure, culture, and sports facilities are all good in the college. There is no ragging on the campus. The college seniors are very friendly and welcoming. Overall RNSIT is a good college.
