What are the chances of a non- Maharashtra student of getting SIMSREE, KJSIMR, Welingkar and PUMBA?

SG
Sachin Gupta Posted On : May 5th, 2023

Quite good and honestly, most non-Maharastra students tend to not take admissions beyond these 5–6 colleges. You may have to score in the range of 98%ile to 99.9 to get into some of these colleges.

There are fair chances of Non - Maharashtra students of getting the above-mentioned colleges under All India Category seats as per DTE Maharashtra for MS and PGDM programs. In colleges such as SIMSREE & PUMBA, more seats are reserved for students from Maharashtra as compared to seats for students from the All India category. You can refer to the DTE Maharashtra website for more information.

Which of these colleges is better for an MBA in finance, PUMBA, SIES or Dalmia according to the current scenario?

AJ

For Finance, PUMBA is superior because it is a college that its students entirely drive to. Students here bring the businesses to campus themselves and plan and run all of the events. Thus, students receive training in prospecting, public relations management, and other related skills. Additionally, IIM A faculty members teach financial management courses at PUMBA.

The average package for PUMBA and SIES is nearly identical and ranges between 7.5 and 8 lakh.

When it comes to fees, PUMBA costs 1.3 lakhs for two years. SIES costs more than five lakhs in fees. Regarding lodging, PUMBA offers hostel services for just Rs.4500 annually. SIES doesn't have a hostel of its own.

MBA at PUMBA 2021

I have a few friends from PUMBA, so I think I can give you some idea about admission to the institute. The criteria required in PUMBA for pursuing MBA is briefed below.

Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate is required to have passed with a minimum of about 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, which is 45% in case of candidates who are either from backward categories or have a physical disability.

Admission Criteria:

Students are required to qualify for the MH - CET exam in case they belong anywhere from Maharashtra. On the other hand, students can apply through CMAT/CAT/MH - CET, if they are from outside of Maharashtra.

Course Structure :

For specialization, there is a provision of 5 main choices to opt from, which are namely Marketing, Finance, Systems, Human Resource, and Operations. In a nutshell, the courses of the institute are of two years, incorporating six trimesters.

The immediate two trimesters mainly prepare you for obtaining a strong foundation on several crucial subjects, such as Finance, Marketing, Systems, Human Resource, Operations. Alongside these, it also helps improve Communications skills, Information Technology, Quantitative Skills, and others in students.

Which MBA college crowd is better, Indira or PUMBA?

Sadia Naseem Posted On : May 2nd, 2023

If we compare both Indira and PUMBA, the crowd at the latter is better because it is affiliated with Pune University and it is not easy to get admission there.

For admission, you must have a valid MH-CET score of 95 percentile or higher. On the other hand, Indira is a good institution with a reputed student administration, yet PUMBA is a better college when compared to Indira.

Can I get direct admissions to PUMBA as I scored a very low percentile in the MAH CET?

PS
Parag Sinha Posted On : April 17th, 2023
Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune (PUMBA)

Direct admission to PUMBA (Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune) is not possible as per their admission guidelines. PUMBA offers admission to its MBA program through a centralized admission process based on the scores of MAH CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test), CAT (Common Admission Test), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test), or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).

As you have mentioned that you scored a very low percentile in MAH CET, you may still have other options to consider. See if you have enough CAT or GMAT score. Firstly, you can try for other MBA colleges which accept admission through other entrance exams or even direct admission. Secondly, you can opt for a job or take up some relevant work experience for a year or two and then apply for an MBA later.

Explore all possible options before making a decision. You can also contact the admission office of PUMBA for more information regarding their admission process and eligibility criteria. For better reference check the table below;

Which one is best for operations management between Welingkar, Dalmia, SIES, PUMBA, MET, IES, and Chetana?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 2nd, 2023

PGDM is Postgraduate Diploma in Management program which is available at each of the colleges that are mentioned above. But if we take into account all of the available specializations, I would say Welingkar is the best as it provides PGDM programs in the areas of Retail Healthcare, Rural Finance, and Human Resource Operations and Operations.

You should consider Welingkar as it has good placements and offers a good course curriculum and after that, you can give IES as your second priority.
