The new IITs have no major differences and ranking them is quite illogical. It's the location and other personal matters that people consider while choosing one new IIT over the other. Moreover, these baby IITs are still in the development stage.
The table below mentions the NIRF rankings of the new IITs
IIT Hyderabad |

IIT Indore |

IIT Mandi |

IIT Ropar |

Based on NIRF rankings, IIT Patna is ranked 7th among the new IITs.
I have a friend who completed his MTech in Civil and Infrastructure from IIT Patna and he shared his experience of the same with me.
Course structure: The curriculum was poorly structured and failed to provide specialized knowledge in any area. The subjects included Environmental Engineering, Railway Engineering, Structural dynamics, construction planning and management, reliability, economics, etc. The mixture of subjects made it a jack of all trades but a master of none.
Faculties: The faculty pool here is miserable and most of them are old people enjoying their life with government funds and facilities. They rarely take classes and when they do their pedagogy is pathetic and even the most difficult topics like Reliability, FEM, dynamics, etc. were poorly taught.
Research: Comparing the research culture here and that of other IITs you will realize how pathetic the scenario is here. The reason was the lack of faculties’ research capabilities. Neither were they involved in any research work nor did they promote it to the students.
I really hope actions are taken against the falling standards of IIT Patna and the IIT standards are restored.
IIT Patna hostel is a 7-floor building and the distribution is branch-wise on every floor. Usually, the allotment is as follows
As for the roommate allotment, roommates are allocated in alphabetical order within your branch. Branch. A room has 2-3 students of the same branch and usually the same first alphabet in their name.
Honestly, I don’t think IIT Patna has fewer recruiters if you look at the placement statistics and compare them with the other new IITs.

IIT Patna is the 4th among the new IITs. A few reasons why IIT Patna has fewer companies in comparison to some new IITs are
Then again, IIT Patna is developing at a fast pace and attracts recruiters more than many new IITs.
Your question is highly illogical and those who invest their energy in getting validation from others never become successful. Who cares if someone says IIT Patna is not good if you are getting excellent opportunities here? Moreover, those questioning the credibility of IIT Patna are the same who are afraid of taking risks and want to stay on the safe side. How will you achieve success if you don’t come out of your comfort zone?
The Indian mindset forces students to focus on placements more than anything thus restricting their perspective. I had a few friends who did their internships at foreign universities and they told me that their peers always discussed new ideas and concepts and placements were their last concern.
So, stop thinking about what others think of your college and make the most out of the opportunities available to you!
IIT Patna has several sports facilities available to the sports and staff such as

The Civil Engineering department of IIT Patna is well-regarded. Here are a few pros and cons to ensure a better understanding of the branch.
Pros
Cons
Make the final decision based on your personal preferences and after weighing the above points.
My sister chose IIT Patna and has been regretting her decision since day one. Despite the good infrastructure, IIT Patna has failed to meet IIT standards in terms of faculties, placement, and cultural environment. Except for the CS branch, the other branches are functioning poorly.
Go through the following points to understand my stance better
Thus, IIT Patna should only be considered if you get CS, else even NITs are better than IIT Patna.
As we know, students are rushing to this college due to its distinctive branch change policy, mainly in CSE. If you are one of them, you should score well in your semester exams and try to excel in extracurricular activities. You should also use the resources available at IIT Patna
