Does Google hire from Hansraj College?

SC

B.Sc (H) Computer Science,Hansraj College,University of Delhi (2017)

No, if you mean hiring through on-campus placements. Google does not search for profiles at Hansraj College. You can still apply through off-campus placements.

If you are searching for a technical position, you should be aware that Google no longer visits campuses (with the exception of IIT-B and IIT-D) for placements in such positions. There is an extensive off-campus employment procedure that begins with applying for an internship at Google. You can apply regardless of where you graduated.

Which is better for a BA Hons. Economics Hindu College or Hansraj College?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 7th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Even though both colleges hold immense prestige and boast of their academic excellence, for many, Hindu College stands ahead of Hansraj College for Economics Honors. Many students consider Hindu College to be in 4th position in terms of Economics studies, after St.Stephens, SRCC, and LSR.

Some highlights of Hindu College are-

Post-graduation studies- The students pursuing their Economics (Hons) from Hindu College get the opportunity to join prestigious institutions for further studies. To name a few-

  • Oxford University, Delhi School of Economics, London School of Economics
  • University of Bath, Warwick University, and other prominent universities of the UK
  • IIM (including IIM Bangalore), XLRI, FMS, SP Jain, MDI, and other prestigious business schools in India
  • Placements- Students are offered positions in firms such as Google, Jaypee Trading, KPMG, DE Shaw, and others. Some students even receive multiple offers
  • My sisters’ batchmates (2010 graduates) are currently placed in top Private Equity firms, Top investment banks, and consulting firms of great prestige. Some secured much-revered government positions as IAS and IFS officers.

Though these are not statistical figures for an accurate comparison, the data can still provide important insight and value judgment on Hindu College.

Ultimately, it is a matter of individual preference regarding which college you choose. Both colleges offer students immense opportunities, in fact even similar opportunities, so to say.

Also, some of my friends do mention that the economics faculty at Hansraj might be better than the one at Hindu.

How good is the Geology department at Hansraj College for UG?

RV
Ria Vij, Posted On : October 30th, 2021
studied Economics at Hansraj College, University of Delhi (2018)

One of my friends studied at Hansraj College. According to him, the Geology department is not up to the mark. Here’s mentioning some things that proved to be a disappointment for the students.

  • The placements are underwhelming. No reputed organization ever recruits students from this department.
  • The classes are irregular and no discipline or decorum is maintained.
  • Since it has the curriculum standards of DU, students are put under a lot of pressure to mug up elaborate theories.
  • The practical classes are uninteresting, basically because it is not much focussed on.
  • Classes of B.Sc. Geology is held outside the main campus where students tend to feel alienated from others.
  • They have very little exposure hence less placements.
  • Lastly, there is no geology society, where you can learn specific things about the course, get in-hand training, etc.

Therefore, if you want to do B.Sc. then opt for some other subject or you can do a BA or B.Com. from DU as they will provide better scope than Geology.

HG
Himani Ghose Posted On : October 29th, 2021
Jesus and Mary College

Here is some information regarding the JMC and Hansraj Maths department based on the experience of my friends from both institutes.

JMC:

  • The Maths department is well-equipped.
  • Along with theory, students need to take up practical projects in their B.Sc. This will help you with your CV.
  • JMC has one of the oldest placement cells in DU. It is also quite active. Every year they organize campus placements and reputed companies like KPMC, Deloitte, ITC, Accenture visit to recruit students.
  • JMC doesn’t offer hostel accommodation.

Hansraj:

  • The student crowd of the institute is quite diverse. You will get to meet people from all over the world.
  • The hostel and mess facilities are great.
  • Campus life is lively and enjoyable.
  • It offers good extracurricular activities.

Go through the above-mentioned points and choose the institute that suits your requirements.

What is orientation like in DU colleges especially in Hansraj College?

RD
Rahul Das, Posted On : October 30th, 2021
B.Sc. from Hansraj College, University of Delhi (2021)

One of my friends studied at Hansraj College, therefore I am quite familiar with it. Let me share his orientation at the college.

  • The one thing that can be assured is that you will have the best 3 years of your life here.
  • The orientation in colleges is basically to make the freshers familiarize with the college.
  • It includes an address by the Principal and other senior faculty members.
  • There will be some performances like Ganesh Vandana, dance, singing, etc. by the college societies.
  • The annual magazine ‘Hans’ will also be launched which contains the previous year’s events and achievements by the college.

Make sure you attend the orientation. It's a great step towards interacting with people. You will get to know about your college history, facilities, societies, leisure joints, etc. Also, you will not have any difficulty in finding the room for your classes the next day since you will already be familiar with the building.
