Which college is better for an MBA, GLIM, Chennai, or NIBM, Pune?

It is one of the finest Business Schools in the country.RBI established National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) is among India's reputed business schools. Admission Procedure:
NIBM:
- The fee structure for the entire duration of 2 years is INR 12,00,000, involving hostel and mess charges.
- The seat intake is around 120 seats.
- CAT, XAT(80%), CMAT(95%) exams are accepted here.
- Followed by writing tests and interviews.
GLIM :
- Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in any branch.
- Candidates in the final year of their course can also apply but only PGDM, not PGPM course.
- CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT scores are accepted here.
- Candidates are shortlisted on the CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT scores followed by personal interviews.
- The basic fee structure for PGPM is INR 18-20 Lakhs and for PGDM is INR 17-19 Lakhs, including all living expenses.

- NIBM campus is centrally air-conditioned and speeds wi-fi service. Cultural festivals are conducted every year. Posses Auditorium, IT equipped laboratories and digital library. Girl's Residentials are fully furnished with strong security 24X 7.

Candidates who are university toppers are given an additional weightage. Students with less than 2 years of work experience, their achievements during this tenure is also considered.

As per the current cutoff trends, the required CAT cutoff for the Great Lakes Institute of Management is 90+. But there is no definite benchmark, this is just an approximation score to shortlist candidates for admission. The institute still considers exceptional students with lower scores. Also, if someone has a high aptitude test score and not a great academic background, they may get rejected. Although test score is important, the institute looks for more well-rounded candidates with a strong overall academic record.
What is the minimum CAT percentile required to be selected in the cut off list for a PGDM course at Great Lakes, Chennai?
Great Lakes Chennai doesn’t have a fixed cutoff for their PGDM course. They consider past academics, work experience (if any), recommendations, essays along with performance in GMAT/CAT/XAT/CMAT, and interviews. However, it has been observed from the admission trends for the past few years that the required cutoff percentile for CAT remains above 80.
Which college would be best between management colleges like TAPMI Manipal, GOA Institute of Management, Great Lakes Chennai, and FORE Institute Delhi?
Based on location, reputation, and potential for job placement, the first college on the list, "Great Lakes," is the best, but it is only for people with work experience and not for freshers.
"FORE," located in Delhi, is the second best college and its institutional location makes industry exposure easy.
"Goa Institute," is not as good as the first two but still has good characteristics.
Last on the list is "TAPMI," which lacks a strong alumni base, and its graduates may have less networking and job chances than graduates from other universities with larger alumni networks.
How can I arrange the following according to an MBA/PGDM: NMIMS, Mumbai, SBIM, Pune, IIFT, Delhi, Great Lakes, Chennai, SPJIMR, Mumbai and JBIMS, Mumbai?
I have given the preference order of the above-mentioned B Schools. However please remember this is based on my personal opinions and not any official figures
1st: NMIMS is one of the best schools in Mumbai with fewer fees and great specialization in Finance. Its distinguishing feature is its small batch size which is extremely beneficial for excellent placements. The companies that visit offer the best roles to their students mainly because of their credibility and strong alumni network.
2nd: SPJIMR too is located in Mumbai and is the second-best School after JBMINS. Its students intake is very good due to the strict selection process. The placements are at par with JBIMS but the fees are a bit higher. It's ranked in the top 3 in Operation and IT specialization in India.
3rd: One of the oldest institutes for MBA, IIFT is a good choice owing to its strong brand name and small batch size.
4th: SIBM Pune is a blend of everything; a Good campus, good corporate competition, hostel life, good infrastructure, faculty, and placement. It gives you an amazing MBA experience l.
5th: NMIMS Mumbai is great for MBA and is at par with SIBM. But I have ranked it the last owing to its high fees and larger batch size that requires a lot of competition during placements.
So the ranking is
NMIMS>SPJIMR>IIFT>SIBM Pune>NMIMS Mumbai
Which one should be preferred between Great Lakes, Chennai PGPM, and IIM Amritsar?
When considering which postgraduate management program to pursue, there are several factors to consider. One such factor is the duration of the program. Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai (GL) offers a One-year PGPM program, while the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar has a 2-year PGPM program. If you are looking to re-enter the job market sooner, Great Lakes may be a better option for you.
Another factor to consider is the alumni base of the institution. Great Lakes has a larger alumni base than IIM Amritsar, which may provide more networking opportunities. While it has the coveted IIM tag, it may not have the same level of prestige or reputation as older IIMs. However, if the IIM tag is important to you, and you are willing to work harder than your peers and give your best in those 2 years, IIM Amritsar may be a good option for you.
Ultimately, the decision of which program to attend will depend on your personal priorities and what you want to gain from the program. It's important to do your own research and weigh the pros and cons of each institution before making a final decision.
What is better: PGPM at IIM Trichy or Great lakes Institute of Management, Chennai?
IIM Trichy may be a good choice if you value the brand value of IIMs. However, Great Lakes Institute of Management (GL) outperforms IIM Trichy in several areas:
- The average CTC at GL is INR 17.86 LPA, while at IIM Trichy it is INR 17.01 LPA. However, the one-year program at GL allows students to enter the job market faster, mitigating the difference in CTC. In addition, the batch size at GL is larger and the highest CTC offered is higher than that at IIM Trichy every year.
- GL has a higher quality faculty compared to IIM Trichy and can only be compared to the top 5 institutes in India in terms of faculty.
- GL has a larger alumni base.
- Some companies, such as TCS, offer higher tier profiles to students at GL compared to those at IIM Trichy. Both institutes have a focus on IT placements, making this comparison significant.
- GL is recognized by AMBA, one of the three largest business school accreditation organizations, and is also a GMAT preferred school.
- The quality of students at GL is on par with IIM Trichy. The average CAT/XAT score at GL is 94%ile, with a cut-off around 90. The average percentile is likely to be higher than IIM Trichy as the cut-offs for reserved categories at IIMs are lower.
There are numerous comparisons where GL outperforms IIM Trichy. However, other B-schools such as JBIMS, MDI Gurgaon, and IIFT Delhi may also be considered over new IIMs.
Which should one choose: IIM Ranchi PGDMHR or Great Lakes Institute of Management PGPM?
To decide between IIM Ranchi's PGDM HR program and the Great Lakes PGPM program, consider the following questions:
- Do you want to build your career in HR?
- Do you have work experience of more than 3 years?
If your answer to the first question is "Yes" and your answer to the second question is "No," you should consider IIM Ranchi's PGDM HR program. If your answer to the first question is "No" and your answer to the second question is "Yes," you should consider Great Lakes PGPM.
If both answers are "Yes," you should reconsider whether you really want to change careers after 3 years of work experience. If you still want to pursue HR, IIM Ranchi's PGDM HR program would be a good option. If both answers are "No," you should consider Great Lakes PGPM, as it has a better return on investment due to its shorter duration.
