IIM Ahmedabad and the Indian School of Business (ISB) feature state-of-the-art facilities and a variety of resources to support student's academic and professional growth, making it impossible to compare their facilities.
The vast IIMA campus features well-equipped classrooms, auditoriums, computer labs, libraries, and sports facilities. The institute includes advanced research and case study facilities.
ISB features modern classrooms, computer laboratories, a library, and sports facilities. The institute maintains significant links with global universities and organizations, giving students access to a variety of resources and possibilities.
The greatest business school for facilities depends on the person. Before choosing, research and compare IIMA and ISB.
IIM Ahmedabad's MBA and MS in Finance programs have different career pathways.
The MBA covers finance, marketing, operations, and strategy. The program trains students in leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving for a variety of organizational jobs.
However, the MS in Finance program teaches advanced financial theory, investment analysis, and financial management. The quantitative, technical program prepares students for finance occupations like investment banking, risk management, and financial planning and analysis.
Both programs can lead to great careers, but the student's interests, skills, and job market conditions at graduation will determine the path. MBA graduates can work in business, government, and nonprofits, whereas MS in Finance graduates can work in finance-specific roles in investment banking, hedge funds, private equity, or other financial institutions.
IIM Ahmedabad's MBA and MS in Finance programs are great, and the student's career goals, hobbies, and background should determine their choice of which one to pursue.
Unfortunately, you can’t get into IIM Ahmedabad as they look for students with an exceptional academic record.
If you belong to the general category, your 12th score is insufficient to get you an interview call. A general engineering male student with less than 90 percent in 12th will have to get 100 percentile in CAT to even expect a call from IIM Ahmedabad.
Good MBA colleges like IIMC and FMS do not heavily rely on the 12th scores. But even IIMC requires an 80 percentile in 12th, or else, at least 99.99 percentile in CAT. A friend of mine scored 72% in his 12th, and a 99.98 percentile in his CAT. But he didn’t receive an interview call simply because of his 12th score.
The competition is especially harsh for engineers as IIM Ahmedabad tries to intake students from diverse educational backgrounds.
Do not be disheartened and research the requirements of other top Business Schools for your MBA.
IIM Ahmedabad is one of India's top business schools and is noted for its demanding admissions process. The selection process questions are aimed to assess a candidate's analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as their capacity to think critically and creatively.
Some instances of difficult questions asked during the selection process at IIM Ahmedabad include:
These questions are intended to assess a candidate's ability to think strategically, analyse complicated situations, and devise innovative solutions. They also attempt to assess the candidate's current-events awareness as well as their ability to think on their feet.
It's important to note that these are only examples, and the questions posed may vary based on the year and situation.
It makes little difference in terms of interview call conversion at IIM Ahmedabad. If the interviewers believe that the candidates (from whatever institute they completed their graduation) are qualified, they will hire them. In fact, if they have to choose between two candidates who are equally good, they will most likely choose the candidate who graduated from a less well-known academic institution. They receive many institutes from well-known colleges, but having a student from a lesser-known college can bring a unique perspective to the class.
Coming to the point of impact of college graduation at IIM Ahmedabad. Impact on various levels:
Academics: Everyone must earn their grade by performing well in quizzes, exams, and, most importantly, group projects.
Club selection: It is dependent on the person conducting your interview for the selection. However, it cannot be assumed that a person who did not attend a top-graduation college will face disadvantages.
Placements: It may have an impact on the placement process. Recruiters may prefer a candidate from his or her college over others. Because the likelihood of a recruiter being from a "prestigious college" is higher, the individual may benefit.
The biggest advantage is that there is a culture in these colleges of getting into top B-schools, so students believe they can do it. They can also get information from seniors regarding the same.
IIM Calcutta is India's finance campus. You must examine the books, journals, and periodicals in the libraries at IIM C and IIM A to see the difference.
The majority of jobs available after completing a PGP at IIM Ahmedabad are in the consulting industry. They also have a phenomenal incubation center for entrepreneurs (CIIE, IIM A).
The A versus C debate is never-ending. Both are excellent business schools. However, if the OP is financially secure, then the problem is solved. The solution has been found. You belong at IIM C.
As the daily scale of competition is constantly on the verge of increasing, it is getting important to obtain as many marks as possible while in graduation because it is the first deciding point when you will apply.
Alongside, it also daily is based on factors like the CAT percentile, your marks in XI/XII, and category. However, it is always better to work harder on the facts that concern your personal responsibilities, such as being on the elevated side either in CAT, or the graduation marks, if you are yet to graduate. And if someone gets past the gates of IIM with poor grades by absolutely any mistake then the kit for survival within the campus will count as the toughest.
IIM provides 10% weightage to your graduation score, so you should keep it at check. In fact, if you are anyhow successful in securing yourself a percentage above 80, then it will give you a full 10,and unfortunately standing somewhere above 70 will give you 8 points in this arena.
Both your standardised 12th grade marks, might not entirely, but definitely donates at least one part of being involved in your shortlisting procedure. Unlike many other colleges and universities, your CAT score is very important and holds severe value, so cracking into the 99 percentile of CAT will speed your admission chances.

Anything below 70 sounds typically hard to face, yet if you somehow have a score like that, you are most probably out of chances to be admissible in IIM, Ahmedabad.
A few years back, one of my friends applied to both IIMA and IIMB. He got an email from IIM Bangalore with the subject ‘IIMB PGP 2017 Offer of Admission’, one day while he was working. He didn’t expect an admission offer since his interview hasn’t been that good. He didn't check his IIMA result as he always felt, it was out of his reach.
Some of his friends suggested that he should at least check the IIMA website once, anyways. When he logged in his credential to the IIMA website he was speechless to find that he had gotten in. When the realization settled in, he was torn between IIMA and IIMB. But eventually, he choose IIM A.

IIM Ahmedabad is one of the premier institutes of management offering highly integrated courses. It takes admission through the Common Aptitude Test (CAT). CAT qualifies to be one of the toughest examinations of the country due to factors like competition and pattern. Overall, you will need around 90 percentile in CAT to get a call for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).
But securing 90 percentile in CAT does not mean you will get admission to IIM Ahmedabad. You need to perform well in WAT and PI to secure a seat.
Cutoff:
The minimum CAT cut off percentile for the SC category in the academic year 2020 was as follows.
Category |
Cutoff |
Verbal & Reading Comprehension (Section 1) |
60 |
Data Interpretation (Section 2) |
60 |
Quantitative Aptitude (Section 3) |
60 |
Overall |
70 |
Do not just aim for the required cutoff. The higher percentile you have, the higher is the chance to secure the seat. So try to score as much as possible.
