IG

Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IITBBSR)

IIT Bhubaneswar works hard to help the students in achieving their success. Since its inception, it has collaborated with many foreign universities like University of Massachusetts, University of New York, etc.

In 2019, IIT Bhubaneswar witnessed a big jump in terms of placement. Around 89 companies visited the campus and an overall 90% placement rate was observed at the end of session. The CSE department got 100% placements in top companies like Amazon, HP, Adobe, Jio, Accenture, etc. The CSE department received attractive salary packages ranging from 10-35 LPA.

The statistics of placement of IIT Bhubaneswar for MTech in CSE are also good though not great. The number of students who got placed was 40 out of 69, an average of 60% got placement. The trend is good if one wants to pursue CSE from IIT Bhubaneswar, provided one has to be good at programming and academics. So if you choose CSE, you get good placements with balanced infrastructure and well-equipped lab facilities.

How good is the CSE branch and faculty at the IIT in Bhubaneswar ?

AR
Anushua Roy Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech CE from IITBBSR (2019)

IIT Bhubaneshwar is at the 22nd rank in the NIRF 2020 ranking. However, there are many other IITs like IIT Madras, Delhi, Bombay, Kharagpur, and Kanpur among others, which are ranked higher than IIT Bhubaneshwar.

Looking at the parameter of placement in the CSE branch, it is quite impressive with a placement rate of 100%. Some reputed companies were present in the placement drives conducted in the college. In 2018, Adobe visited the college and offered the highest package, which was worth INR 38 lakh per annum. Similarly, Goldman Sachs had offered a package of 31.5 lakh to three students from the CSE branch.

The infrastructure required for the CSE branch is also quite well at IIT Bhubaneshwar. The college provides essential facilities like Wi-Fi network, computer laboratories, smart classes, library, and gymnasium.

The faculty is well-qualified and most of them are IIT alumnae and have Ph.D. The student to faculty ratio is 1 teacher to 40 students, which is not very impressive. However, the faculty provides students with elaborated notes and PowerPoint presentations to teach them in recreational ways.

Considering the academics and placement rate it’s clear that CSE at IIT Bhubaneswar is quite good.

How can we compare CSE in top NITs like Suratkal/Warangal with that of CSE in new IITs like Bhubaneswar ?

VA
Varun Agarwal Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.E Electronics And Instrumentation, National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2021)

Old NITs like Surathkal or Warangal have an established stature in terms of placements, courses, faculty, infrastructure, etc. They offer a strong faculty base and learning environment to its students. For example, NIT Surathkal has consistently maintained a placement percentage of 90%+ for the BTech CSE branch. Some top companies that visit the campus for final placements are Adobe, Microsoft, Oracle, etc.

New IITs have also set a promising position for Btech CSE. IIT Indore hosts a variety of projects and events related to competitive programming/coding. Placement records are also good at these IITs. For example, IIT Bhubaneswar records 100% placements of students from the CSE branch with an average package of 11.44 Lakhs INR per annum. Some companies that visit the campus for final placements include Reliance Jio, Amazon, Deloitte, Oracle etc.

You should weigh the pros and cons and join the institute with the better CSE program and not join a college only for the brand value.

How is a 5-year dual degree in mechanical engineering with manufacturing engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar?

FF
Firdausi Faruqi Posted On : August 14th, 2020
CSE from Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (2019)

By looking at the recent trends in the Indian Economy, it can be observed that there is a lack of opportunities for Mechanical Engineering students. The demand for Mechanical and Civil engineers has dropped down and the recruitment is usually in Non-core companies. Only students from Top-Tier colleges are placed in great companies where they move on to become managers.

About the 5-year Dual degree at IIT Bhubaneshwar, the student life is good there although there are strict rules and restrictions. The average package offered at this IIT was 11.44 LPA and the highest was around 39 LPA in last year’s placement drive. The college provides for a special internship program and a summer training program.

Hostel life is good and the hostel rooms are allotted on a single room occupant basis. The food provided is decent. Faculty are very well versed with their subjects and easily approachable as they come from different IITs. the sports facility is fine and many events also take place around the year. The Labs provided are modern but insufficient if compared to other old IIT’s.

Jadavpur University and IIT Bhubaneswar – both have their merits and demerit. The following factors may help you make a better decision.

IIT Bhubaneswar, like other IITs, bears its brand image. Hence, it has the reliability of a well-connected social environment. The politics, suggested assumptions about substance abuse, etc have tarnished the reputation of JU a bit in recent times.

The average salary package offered was 19.96 lakhs per annum.

IIT Bhubaneswar has an academic culture compiled of some of the top students of the country. These students come from a broad variety of background. Hence, you will have the opportunity to socialize with a colourful assemblage. JU is a state university, so it does not offer the same. Even so, Jadavpur University is in a metro-city and has better sex-ratio. This draws them distinct advantages.

Jadavpur University offers hostels, guest house, library, daycare centre, health centre and JU employees’ coop credit society limited. There are ten laboratories and a library in the CSE department. Moreover, there are many recent infrastructural developments in JU. The infrastructure of IIT Bhubaneswar is slowly improving. The campus of IIT Bhubaneswar is spread across 936 acres of land. Are all sports & lab facilities available in IIT Bhubaneswar?

NR
Naman Rastogi Posted On : August 13th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar

IIT Bhubaneswar is transferred to its permanent campus sometimes back. Most of the laboratory facilities for the UnderGraduate (UG) Programme are efficiently equipped as well as fully functional by now. Every school has its own laboratories that they can access.

If we talk about the Sports facilities, they are yet in a developing stage which is rather disappointing for many of the students. Apart from these facilities, other functional facilities include a gym, volleyball court, basketball court, and badminton court (both in Mahanadi [B] and Subarnarekha [G] hostels). Although, there are also temporary grounds for football, cricket, and athletics.

For all the non-functional facilities, the college is taking measures to make them functional soon so that the students can engage in extracurricular activities along with academics.

Furthermore, university toppers at Bachelors and Masters Level are encouraged to apply.

The experience level requirements are different for different posts:-
