Most Government, as well as Private companies, prefer BTech graduates to MTech or MS graduates. One needs an MTech degree only if one wants to enter academia or research. The reason they prefer a fresher is that they consider them flexible and thus sponsor them for higher study in their field of requirement.
M.Tech degree is not required to secure a good job and I will recommend you start preparing for GATE instead and target a PSU job. The written tests and interviews during the process of GATE Preparation will increase your chances of selection in the future.
If you are considering pursuing M.Tech, you may want to take a closer look at Sharda University. Here are some reasons why doing M.Tech from Sharda University can be worth it:
In conclusion, pursuing M.Tech from Sharda University can be a rewarding experience that can provide you with a memorable journey, supportive faculty, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and good placement opportunities.
Center for Rural Technology department offers MTech in Rural Technology program. This program is usually taught by professors of the Department of Design, Chemical, Mechanical, and Bio-Science. So whether you will like this program or not depends on your prior interests and background.
This program will keep you busy with excellent practical projects that will broaden your knowledge base and enhance your research exposure. Moreover, all the projects are sponsored and funded by external agents like DST. You can get a good research center with maximum effort. IIT(ISM) Dhanbad has two branches in the Civil Engineering department namely Structural Engineering and Environmental Science and Engineering.
Structural Engineering has learned and experienced faculty but the infrastructure and lab facilities are still lacking. A few core companies like L&T come for recruitment drives. The workload is considered less so you will get ample amount of time for preparation for UPSC.
M.Tech in Environmental Science and Engineering is one of the oldest branches which is the Centre of Mining Environment. There are many highly qualified professors in this discipline with well-equipped laboratories certified by ISO. The department has more than 90 Research and Development projects and more than 250 consultancy.

The Department of Civil Engineering is well known for its effective academics and course curriculum. The teachers are young, talented, with high academic knowledge, and friendly in the Civil Engineering Department. The other highlighting feature of IIT Patna includes
Infrastructure – IIT Patna is known for its world-class infrastructure, high-quality research labs, good campus, and excellent academics.
Hostel Facility – The clean, peaceful, and resourceful life is the main highlight of the hostels located nearby the campus. The buildings are well maintained and incorporate all the basic amenities, such as a reading room, gym, indoor games, and dining hall with mess food that follows a specific food menu that changes every month based on the preferences of the students. Other than this, free Wi-Fi is available around the buildings, and they also provide satisfactory healthcare facilities.
Syllabus – The master's in civil engineering has one of the most well-structured and advanced syllabuses among other institutes.
One of my friends has completed his BTech from NIT Patna. I have an idea about the academic environment and placement opportunities at NIT Patna.
Overall, completing MTech from NIT Patna might offer excellent opportunities. The government of India also encouraged the researchers by its schemes directly from NITs. You can also opt for academia and become a teacher or start working in a PSU. The institute will provide you with enough time and opportunities for civil services or IES,
My knowledge is limited to MTech Civil Engineering placements from IIT Kanpur only. But I believe the placement scenario of IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee is pretty much the same.
The core Civil Engineering companies prefer structural engineers to transportation engineering and the competition is also high. For a structural engineer position, you might even have to compete with dual-degree students as companies generally prefer them for the structural engineering profile. Also, the number of structural engineers is higher than transportation engineers theory increasing the competition.
Coming to placements, MTech civil engineers rarely land good packages. A few consulting companies like Spectrum offer a very low package of around INR 4-5 LPA and recruit you as a trainee for 6 months. Lnt also offers 36000 per month to engineering trainees for a period of 6 months.
The general distribution of MTech Civil engineers is as follows
The average package depends on a lot of factors like what career prospect you go for.
Placement for M-tech in institutes like IIT varies from batch to batch due to the lesser requirement of an M-tech candidate to do a particular work. The placements of structural engineering or that of any branch depend more on the placement division of the institute of that batch.
The placements for structural engineering are decent with an average package of around INR 5 LPA. I deem it as one of the best institutes to study structural engineering in India considering the fact that its research work is on par with many old IITs. The institute renders an opportunity to learn and grow with the most genius minds in the country
