If I join UEM Kolkata, will I get guaranteed placement?

RS
Raju Singh Posted On : May 26th, 2021
Studied Economics at Jadavpur University (2010)

One of my cousins studied at UEM. He said that there is no such guarantee of placement. If you aspire to be placed, you will need to develop proper skills, have proper training, and then be assured of placement.

The points below are some of the key factors essential for placement, and the placement status of UEM Kolkata.

  • You should have a lot of potential and choosing the right institute will provide training and opportunities.
  • Attaining skills are most important.
  • UEM is a new institute and is not as good as IEM Kolkata.
  • For management courses, BIBS Kolkata is offering a good enough curriculum and placement. But, there is no guarantee of placement.

According to the advertisements of IEM, they have provided chances of placement to every student in at least one company. But, being in the ads, there are chances that it is not the correct statistics.

Which is better, UEM Kolkata or UEM Jaipur?

SB
Santanu Banerjee Posted On : June 6th, 2022
lives in Kolkata, West Bengal, India

UEM Jaipur is better. It has better infrastructure and facilities.

  • The on-campus facilities are excellent. UEM Jaipur has well-equipped departmental labs, and research labs (AR/VR, IoT). There are various workshops as well, i.e. Mechanical workshops, Electrical workshops, etc. These stay open even after college hours. Students are free to do their own projects and implement their ideas after class hours.
  • Students of UEM Jaipur have made robotic spiders, humanoid robots, fingerprint recognition models, all-terrain vehicles, electric bikes, and energy-efficient building models.
  • UEM Jaipur placements are excellent. According to the recent highlights, students receive an average CTC of INR 4.23 LPA.

UEM Jaipur organizes various events such as Sports Fest, Tech Fest, Cultural Fest, etc. where students contribute as a part of a dynamic peer group.

Is the UEM Kolkata or the ADAMAS good for ME, and which one of these universities has good placements?

PS
Payal Sircar Posted On : May 30th, 2021
B. Tech from University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata

From the options given above, none of them are good. UEM Kolkata does not have good management at all. You will not find any good labs here. As far as ADAMAS is concerned, there is not much information available about it but my friends have said that is not that good either.

My suggestion to you would be to opt for computer science at either of these colleges. This is because pursuing core streams from either of these colleges will be of no help to you at all.

If you end up doing CSE, you can secure a job at a top MNC or IT firm. Due to the demand of CSE and IT graduates nowadays, there are more chances to get a job here, than in any core industry.

If you are looking for good labs at these colleges for core subjects, they will not be available to you. As a student, you will not be satisfied with this and the faculty is not that good either. You can opt for computer science engineering or eventually just go for Honors.

Which is better for CSE, Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College or UEM Kolkata?

SK
Saket T. Kumar Posted On : July 26th, 2021
Studied at University of Mumbai (2019)

One of my cousins is studying CSE at UEM University so I can give you a scenario of UEM University.

Here are a few of the things about UEM Kolkata.

  1. The faculties of UEM Kolkata are good and they also help students.
  2. You will have all the academic exposure here as lots of conferences keep happening at UEM. The academic design of UEM is also good. But semesters are not easy, you have to study hard.
  3. UEM seniors are good. Few of them have created video games for android and built non-framework cars. UEM also started a group where students can build their own cars.

In the table below take a look at the placement scenario of both institutes.

Category B.C. Roy Engineering College UEM Kolkata
Recruiters Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, L&T, etc. TCS, Wipro, Videonetics, Deloitte, etc.
Average CTC INR 3 LPA INR 4.2 LPA
Highest CTC INR 5 LPA INR 40 LPA

UEM Kolkata is a good college if you want to learn every aspect of engineering and gain knowledge. If you want to consider other colleges, then you can go for - IEM, Heritage, Techno India, St. Thomas, Narula Institute of Technology, and B.P. Poddar.

Why am I getting so negative reviews about UEM Kolkata?

AD
Ayan Dey Posted On : June 14th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (2020)

UEM Kolkata has been the highlight of negative views lately and here are the reasons:

  • It is fairly new and hasn’t reached any milestone yet which makes it unreliable according to the standards set in society. People don’t trust newly established private universities.
  • The entrance exam of UEM Kolkata is very easy and people pass it without any problem.
  • UEM Kolkata is new and therefore has no accomplishments and therefore uses the records of UEM Jaipur which makes parents skeptical.
  • The Institute has a very strict environment and therefore comes in the way of students who want to enjoy their college life. These students somehow convince their parents that the Institute is not good for them.
  • UEM Kolkata had issues with UGC(University Grants Commission) and is not recognized by the government and therefore it creates doubts about the degree among students.

These are some of the reasons why some students will be skeptical about joining UEM Kolkata. Talk to the students presently studying there as they can only provide you with the exact information. Try visiting the institute beforehand and decide for yourself.

Does UEM Kolkata have hostel facilities?

SS
Sandip Saha Posted On : June 14th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (2020)

UEM Kolkata has hostel facilities but it is not within the boundary of the campus. There are two separate hostels for boys and girls. The boys’ hostel is approximately 1 km away from the campus and the girls’ hostel is around 10 km.

The hostel is costly as compared to the other PG and private hostels. The food is also not so good and often repeats the same meals twice a day. Basic amenities are provided in the hostel but they also lack certain facilities like providing transportation to the campus. There are quite a number of problems with the hostel such as

  • No connectivity with the main road.
  • There are often long and unusual power cuts.
  • The food quality you get for the price you pay does not justify it at all.
  • Girls have to reach the hostel by 6 pm and the boys have to reach by 7 pm
  • Costlier than almost every PG and private hostel situated there.
  • Management asks for a one-time payment and there is no other option to pay the fees.

Hope this gives you an idea about the hostel accommodation provided by UEM Kolkata.

Haldia Institute of Technology or University of Engineering and Management (UEM-Kolkata) would be the best for CSE?

AG
Abhimunyu Ghose Posted On : July 17th, 2021
B.Tech from Kalyani Government Engineering College (2019)

I have a few friends at the Haldia Institute of Technology and based on what I heard from them, I will suggest you to look for other options. Having a college campus in Kolkata will be advantageous for you.

You can get IT in Techno India salt-lake main campus. If you don’t get Techno you can go for CSE in B.P. Poddar, RCC or St. Thomas, or any other college. Follow previous year trends of opening and closing ranks of the college and make a choice accordingly.

Choosing the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Kolkata can be risky because it is newly established. Even though it is under the banner of IEM, you can’t be certain about placements. Going by the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 4 LPA.

Is UEM Kolkata strict in terms of maintaining uniform (shave/haircut/keeping a beard does it allows)?

AS
Ashok Sanghvi Posted On : June 16th, 2021
B.Tech from University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (2019)

Yes, UEM Kolkata is indeed strict in terms of your outer appearance. These may include a white sleeve shirt with UEM emblem, grey trousers, formal leather shoes, a tie, and an ID card. All of these are a must for every university student and member.

If you miss one of these things, the security officers will return you home from the main gate itself. You cannot even enter without a uniform on vacations whether you are working at the management office or library.

Make sure that you are properly dressed and especially don’t forget or lose your ID card. Even if you lost it then you will have to submit another application and you might not be accepted by the guards inside.
