The placement scenario of IIIT Guwahati is quite good, depending upon the department of study. There is a somewhat different placement scenario for CSE and ECE in IIIT Guwahati. The table below gives a brief overview of IIIT Guwahati.

• For Computer Science and Engineering, there is almost a 100% placement record over the last few years. Most job offers in CSE are decent salary packages. The classified list of companies who have recruited students from Computer Science and Engineering at IIIT Guwahati is published on the college website.
• For Electronics and Communication Engineering, the placements are not so great in present times. There are some students in ECE who have successfully grabbed a decent placement in-campus, and some have succeeded in GATE too.

The new campus of IIIT Guwahati is situated just 4 km away from Guwahati airport. This is a major advancement as more and more companies will visit the campus for placement due to this reason in the future.

Therefore, the overall placement record of IIIT Guwahati is quite good, with an excellent scenario in CSE and a moderate situation in ECE.

Among the above two institutes, IIIT Sri City is the better option, considering several factors like placement and overall development of students in the institute. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes.

Key highlights:

• If you are interested in coding and computer science-related subjects, IIIT Sri City is definitely a better option.
• Although IIIT Sri City is also a new institute, the rate of growth of the institute is quite high in terms of infrastructure, placement, etc.
• The mentor cum director of IIIT Sri City is Prof. U.B. Desai, who is also the director of IIT Hyderabad. He is a man with a lot of knowledge and works best towards the advancement of the institute.
• Comparing these IIITs with VIT, they are better than VIT in many aspects other than the campus. Within the next 2-3 years, these IIITs will surely surpass VIT in every aspect.

Therefore, you should prefer IIIT Sri City as their first option, following with IIIT Guwahati for a B.Tech degree in CSE.

Initially, IIIT Guwahati offered an 80% fee waiver for students belonging to SC and ST categories. However, from 2018 onwards there is no fee concession at all. 

• There are no scholarships based on income or other criteria as the college doesn't receive funds from the government.
• Needless to say, college certainly helps its students to obtain scholarships from the central government, state government, and other sources.
• The institute has an option to increase the batch size thereby earning more from the tuition fee and part of which could be used up for educational aid. But it is committed to maintaining an educational standard for which maintaining a good student-faculty ratio is necessary. 

Each and every student joining the campus from 2019 has to pay a yearly tuition fee of 2.25 lakhs along with the hostel fee of 25,000 and a mess fee of 4,000 per month. Thereafter tuition fee of 1.3 lakhs will be collected in the following years.

Fee Structure:

To sum up, there is no fee waiver or financial aid offered currently at IIIT Guwahati. You need to personally apply for some external scholarships or educational loans from banks as the management is struggling to get funding from the government.

Having friends in both the colleges, I might be able to share a bit of information about both of them. Though my major focus will be on IIIT Guwahati, because being a student there, I had my fair share of experiences.

Nevertheless, let us discuss some of the facts -

• The atmosphere is quite relaxing.
• The distance is quite far from the main city, which is about 25 kilometers. But in terms of the campus distance from the airport, it is a fine 4 kilometers. 
• The population comprises people from UP, Hyderabad, and Bihar. If you are from the North, you would notice this.
• The coding culture is great, in my opinion. Much better than what the latest IIITs have to offer.
• The director of the college has the potential to lift it to the best position in the country. 
• Even though the campus is placed at quite a distance from the main city, you won't be short of any facilities.
• The hostel rooms are nice, if you are lucky, you might get a room with a washroom attached to it.
• The overall curriculum is excellent.
• Cricket and football fields are also available.

As far as IIIT Lucknow is concerned, I might not have too much to talk about. But then you can always make a comparison based on what you are looking for in a college which can be literally anything. Maybe try to put your question a little more precisely so that we can answer them accordingly.

Internet speed can clearly vary based on the number of users consuming the internet at that particular time. 

• If you are looking to download movies or shows, IIT-G offers DC and DC++ facilities which are like torrents for LAN. Internet speed on most days is above 11MBPS. Downloading speed may vary from 50 KBps to 50 MBps. 
• YouTube streaming is hassle-free at 1080p even at peak hours. 
• On working days you will have access to the internet from evening 5 PM to 2 AM and again from 5 AM to 8 AM. This is to ensure that students won't waste time in the hostel and miss out on classes.
• On holidays and around exam days you will have 24 hours free access to the internet even at hostels. Torrents are strictly not allowed within the campus.

Internet service is available 24/7 in academic complexes, lecture halls, libraries and there are not many restrictions on that as such.

My brother has just completed his B.tech from IIITDM Jabalpur and some of my friends also studied at the other two institutes. According to their experience and the NAAC Ranking, IIITDM tops among the three of them. The rating considers everything including infrastructure and facilities.

Following are the key points that give IIITDM an edge over the two.

• Alumni network: IIITDM is the oldest institute having a much larger history and alumni base as compared to IIIT Guwahati, and IIIT Kancheepuram. Whereas the other two institutes might have just 2-3 batches completed.
• Campus: Knowledge is easily accessible to everyone even you can watch Stanford Lectures from Home. Here also, IIITDM Jabalpur is at advantage. The seniors are very helpful and won’t hesitate to give you a hand.

• Placements: IIITDM being located in the central part of India, has the advantage of better placements. Even core companies like ISRO and DRDO visit the campus for recruitment.

• Global tie-ups: IIITDM Jabalpur has tie-ups with countries like Japan, China, and Korea which creates opportunities for higher education if you are interested.

• Infrastructure: It is clearly better than IIIT Guwahati, and IIIT Kancheepuram as the latter two are newly established hence lacking some basic facilities for now.

All in all, it is not advisable to rely on the college just for jobs and placements. It is crucial to focus on learning and develop new skills which may come in handy in the future.

A friend of mine is currently studying in the 2nd year at IIIT Guwahati and recently shifted to the new campus. However, the campus is still getting completed with minor changes remaining. 

Here’s the current scenario at IIIT G according to him:

• Gym: It is almost completed with basic types of equipment and benches. For the starting few semesters there were no machines and equipment. However, you can also join various gyms nearby the airport which is in close proximity to the college.

• Playgrounds: You will see a lot of emphasis on sports and games, not only the outdoor but indoor like table tennis, carom, chess, etc. There are newly constructed basketball, tennis and badminton courts, football and cricket fields also.

• Intercollege tournaments: You can actively participate in various sports/game tournaments and competitions held by clubs where you can compete against other colleges like IIT Guwahati, AEC, etc.

• Clubs: You can choose among several clubs, some of them are Reading Club, Programming Club, Music Club, Quiz Club, Literary Club, Movie Club, Yoga, and fitness Club, Dance Club, Photography club, etc.

There are ample opportunities for extracurricular activities besides academics. Also, the recent increase of intake from 90 students to 230 students has led to a significant improvement in these fields. In the end, your interest and participation are what drives the campus.

As IIIT Guwahati is a newly established institute, it struggles for the first few years as most institutes do. However, over the period of time, there has been a significant improvement in terms of infrastructure, student body, and faculty.

• A couple of years back, the new campus became ready with all the necessary facilities and good infrastructure. Also, gyms and sports courts were established while keeping the increase of student intake in mind.
• The faculty at IIIT Guwahati is quite promising with OS, Network Security, AI being some of the best fields you can engage in.
• You can benefit from the conductive scenario of research and technical atmosphere. To my friend’s knowledge, the entrepreneurial scene is also great with about 4 startups launched by the 2015 batch in different stages.

IIIT Guwahati clearly sees a bright future ahead as compared to other newly established IIITs. To reach the stature of the old and famous IIITs like Hyderabad, it will take the next 3-5 years. With adequate progress going on, IIIT Guwahati shall be one of the leading national institutes for sure!
