Post Grad Advanced Construction Management ,National Institute of Construction Management and Research,Pune

I have a few friends from NICMAR Pune and they shared information about some of their favorite eateries near the institute.

North Indian Food-

  • Great Punjab, Baner – This is a really good place when you are craving some North Indian food with a good amount of spices.
  • Rangla Punjab, Pashan-sus Road –This is a traditional Dhaba with an open-air seating arrangement with khatiya and table and chairs.
  • Farmville, Pashan-sus road -This is located on a hillock with an amazing view of the whole of Baner. They serve vegetarian food and it is a must-try because of the seating arrangement which is tiny cottages. The portions are satisfactory with reasonable pricing and it is the perfect value for money.

Street Food-

  • Momos, near Big Bazaar banner- There is a guy that serves hot, steamed momos with a huge dollop of mayonnaise and a red sauce.
  • Pani Puri, opposite Mast Kalandar, Baner- Lip-smacking Pani puri and chat is served here that is also quite affordable.
  • Chocolate sandwiches- this place is located somewhere near Shivajinagar. Here, you can get more than 50 varieties of sandwiches.

If you wish to eat South Indian food, you can go to Andhra mess, Maa Mess, Ana’s Dosa Centre, A1 biryani, Hyderabad House, or Hyderabad spice. If you wish to have a South Indian breakfast or a mini-meal, you can go to Vaishali restaurant. If you wish to have Rajasthani food you can go to a place near college which serves very good Dal Bhaati.

What profiles can a civil engineer except after doing PEM from NICMAR?

SP
Sheila Padnekar Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune (2019)

Commonly, the profiles that are offered by the industry do not essentially differ a lot in any branch. You can possibly be eligible for various profiles once graduated from NICMAR. These are to name a few,

Project Manager Construction Manager Logistics Manager
Planning Engineering QA/QC Engineer Billing Engineer
Market Researcher Project Coordinator Risk Manager
Business Developer Quantity Surveyor ERP Consultant

Anyhow, these profiles partially also depend upon the respective organization or the company, for instance,

  1. Companies such as L&T or HCC will most likely recruit for profiles like planning, contract engineering, quality surveyor, and others.
  2. On the contrary, realtor firms and design interiors will most preferably recruit project controllers or project coordinators.
  3. Product-based companies look for market researchers, business developers, or more.
  4. In the case of financial firms, the recruitment would be on the spectrum of valuation, finance, and more.
  5. However, most of the consultant companies would prefer BIM engineering, structural designers, and other similar job roles.

The company you enlist at decides the profile you will belong to. As once mentioned earlier, if you graduate from NICMAR, then you will undeniably be allotted any one of these aforementioned roles, provided you are good at it.

What are the chances of getting an assistant manager/contracts manager job after completing QSCM in NICMAR if we have certification in Primavera?

AR
Arun Raj Posted On : September 17th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2017)

The chances of getting a profile for Assistant Manager after QSCM are pretty high. There are few companies that give such position to freshers.

  • One such company is JLLwhich is a Project Management Consultancy.
  • Most contracting firms such as L&T, HCC, Afcons, JMC, Shapoorji prefer giving the position of Post Graduate Management Trainee or Graduate Engineer Trainee to Freshers.
  • Down the line working after 3–4 years after QSCM, they get the tag of Assistant Manager.
  • In PMC like CBRE, the initial tag of Project Coordinator is given to selected candidates only.
  • The chances of getting an Assistant Manager or Contracts Manager profile get higher after passing out from ACM/PEM/IFDM/REUIM.

It is always better to pursue a course after at least 1 year of on-site work experience as it helps in understanding the concepts better. This also helps in negotiating for a better package during the placements.

Doing an MS from US will be better. You will get better exposure. A degree from US is valid all across the world. So, you can settle anywhere in the USA and the world. The annual salary of an MS degree holder from the USA is around $73,900 (INR 54,31,413).

Is it easy to get into NICMAR Pune?

AS
Aditya Sapra Posted On : October 7th, 2021
Studied Project Management, National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune (2014)

It is a bit easy to get into NICMAR but this doesn't mean that you will take the entrance exam very casually. I have seen various people who have tried more than three times to get enrolled in NICMAR Pune.

You have to be sincere with the preparation and work hard. Prepare from RS Aggarwal for the Aptitude section because it is more than enough. Don't spend much time on the Quant because it is going to be a lengthy process. Rather you can solve questions on topics you are already confident enough as it would be helpful.

For the interview process, dress up properly and be confident. Don't be nervous because the interviewers observe your body language.

Moreover, NICMAR offers sponsored seats with 5% seats reserved for the management quota. If you are unable to crack the entrance exam, you can get a seat through this quota. The only condition will to be pay 1.5 times more fee than a regular student.

Is nicmar certificate useful?

AS
Arvind Singh Posted On : October 25th, 2021
studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research

If you are talking about job opportunities, then yes, a NICMAR certificate will be helpful. Although the NICMAR certificate will help you get a job, your salary and job profile will depend entirely on your skills. Further, as you grow in your career, your certificate will not matter much.

NICMAR doesn’t have the brand value effect it used to have in core industries due to its increased student intake. So, a NICMAR certificate can be helpful to get peripheral jobs but it will not help you get into the core sector.

What is the salary package after doing ACM from NICMAR Pune having 5 years of experience in the construction field?

AJ
Anamika Jindal Posted On : September 17th, 2021
PGDP Advanced Construction Management ,National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2019)

One of my friends had recently joined NICMAR and here are some things he suggested that might help you with your question.

  • It would be highly recommended to take the Distance Course if the aspiring candidate is very serious about pursuing this course.
  • The degree is not much worth the cost that one is paying.
  • Most of the prior experienced candidates got job offers with lesser salaries than they were getting before.
  • The average CTC offered is around INR 6 LPA wherein you do not have much choice with the company that you can get placed anywhere else.

Thus, it is important to take suggestions from students who have recently passed out or are currently graduating and then make the decision.
