The total fees are paid in six installments to reduce the burden of paying huge amounts in one go. The mess fees are taken on a half-yearly basis, and hostel fees are taken for the whole year. There are due dates attached to the instalments; failing to comply with them will attract a fine of Rs. 1000 daily.

For the refunds regarding the fees, IMI Bhubaneswar follows the guidelines of the UGC to address the same as per the norms issued in 2018. Students withdrawing before the formally announced last date of enrollment receive variable fee reimbursements. Withdrawal 15 days or more prior results in a 100% refund, minus a processing penalty capped at ?5000 or 5% of fees paid. Withdrawal within 15 days prior to the last date merits an 80% return, reducing to 50% between 16 and 30 days after the last date. No refund is provided beyond 30 days.

There are usually two interviewers on the panel. The questions are particularly designed to test the IQ and EQ of the candidate, which helps to understand their state of mind. Questions related to long-term goals, awareness of current affairs, all about your resume, and inclination towards PGDM are asked. The questions are not complex as they are designed based on the profile of each candidate.

Students can apply for loans from their hometown as well, but if they are looking for facilities from the institute, then there are tie-ups with Yes Bank, SBI Bank, Credila Financial Services Pvt. Ltd., Bank of Baroda, Central Bank of India, IDFC First Bank, and Canara Bank for educational loans, which offer various benefits. A branch of Canara Bank is very near the institute, which is why students prefer to get their loans from Canara Bank. Also, there is a camp for students who want to take loans set up during the orientation program to offer students various options.

The overall expenses for accommodation vary for both girls and boys based on the choice of AC or non-AC rooms, whereas the fees for meals are the same for all. For MBA batch 2024–25, girls are charged 80,000 for non-ac rooms and 1,35,000 for AC rooms. For boys, fees for AC rooms vary between 60,000 and 75,000, and fees for non-AC rooms vary between 1,05,000 and 1,30,000 based on occupancy. 

Mess charges are $7,000 per month, which is a charge on a half-yearly basis for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The rooms are well furnished and have wardrobes, beds, and study tables with proper light and ventilation. The mess area is also well-ventilated and is cleaned before every meal.

The final placement season usually begins in October with the Pre-Placement Talks (PPT), where the company introduces themselves to the students and their job roles. Companies start coming to the campus and begin with the interview process after that.

Talking about the academic assignments, students are given ample time to prepare and present the assignments to the professors, and in the meantime, they can visit the faculty for any doubts and queries. Looking into live projects, the students are offered a duration ranging from 15 days to 3 months for various roles, including research, HR, digital marketing interns, etc.

Despite this, companies are also looking for other domains where finance holds the second-highest share of placement opportunities. For batch 2022–24, 38.1% of the opportunities were from Fintech and the BFSI domain.
