Which is better IT in IIIT Allahabad or Industrial Chemistry in IIT BHU or Civil in new IIT?

RS
Raunak Sharma Posted On : July 2nd, 2021
Dual Degree from Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2018)

Choosing streams like Industrial Chemistry can be tricky. Generally, students don’t even understand the scope of the basic courses, let alone a specialized course like chemistry. Don’t go for such a course if you are not well-informed about the career prospect.

If you are interested in civil engineering then don't waste time and apply to the new IITs. It is difficult to decide whether you are interested in a particular field. To find out you can get in contact with Civil Engineering graduates from good universities. Ask about their nature of work and growth in the field, etc. See if that sparks your interest. Also, you will have the option to go for GATE and appear in IES.

How are placements for Pharmaceutical Engg. at IIT BHU?

AK
Anindita Kundu Posted On : April 21st, 2021
Btech from Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2021)

The placements of Pharmaceutical Engineering at IIT BHU are presently not considered to be excellent but are at a growing phase. There are several reasons which lead to the not-so-satisfactory placement of Pharmaceutical Engineering, and some of them are listed in the key highlights. The table below gives a brief overview of Pharmaceutical Engineering at IIT BHU.

Categories

IIT BHU

NIRF ’20 Ranking

11

Total Fees

Rs. 8.62 Lakhs

Median Salary Offered

Rs. 13.6 LPA

Total Number of Seats

80

Cut-off (JEE Advanced)

11691

Key Highlights:

  • Just a few years back, the department of Pharmaceutical Engineering was called B.Pharm. This is one of the reasons why several companies can’t recognize the stream, and so didn’t open their recruitment procedure for the department to date.
  • Slowly with time, there are companies who have started recruiting students from Pharmaceutical Engineering, which is evident by the fact that there are new names every year in the list of companies who have visited the campus for placement.
  • Among all other sectors, the Pharmaceutical industry stands second among the fastest growing industries in the world.
  • In the Pharmaceutical industry, there is immense scope for research-oriented works. So, most students are hired by organizations offering research profiles, and very few corporate jobs are seen to be offered to students.

This is the overall placement scenario of Pharmaceutical Engineering at IIT BHU, which is not very good in quality and quantity, but is increasing with time and according to market demands.

Should I choose NIT Calicut CSE or IIT BHU chemical Engineering?

SB
Sumit Barua Posted On : August 27th, 2021
B.Tech from Jadavpur University (2021)

If you are interested in coding and aim to work in good corporate firms, then it is suggested that you go for CSE at NIT Calicut. But if you want an IIT tag, you can opt for IIT BHU. But this won't matter much afterward.

So, if you are focused on doing research then Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU will be a good option. You can also learn coding on the sidelines, which might be beneficial if you sit for placements.

Parametres CSE at NIT Calicut Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU
Tuition Fee INR 16,000 INR 6.7 LPA
Placement Percentage 73.5% 71%
Average Package INR 11.57 LPA INR 16.27 LPA

The choice of studying in a college pursuing a particular subject is entirely up to you. Check where your strengths and weaknesses lie and then choose accordingly. Both institutes are good in their own way. But it is your hard work and dedication that will prove if CSE or Chemical will be good for you.

Which is better for CSE? (IIT Roorkee vs BITS Pilani vs IIT BHU vs IIIT Hyderabad)

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : April 14th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Every Institute has its unique aspects as well as its own strengths and weaknesses. Some factors to consider include the quality of the faculty, the resources available to students, the research opportunities, and the campus culture.

IIT Roorkee, BITS Pilani, and IIT BHU CS are definitely excellent but IIIT Hyderabad wins the race when it comes to CS. It’s second only to IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, and Madras. Because of only 2 branches, the entire focus of the Institute is on CS only. The opportunities, ambiance, and faculty are aligned with the requirements for a good CS branch. Another good option is IIT BHU because of its high ROI.

Having known a few friends in all 4 institutes, I can confidently say that those who chose IIIT Hyderabad CS over IIT Roorkee are doing better now. The IIT tag certainly is helpful but only to a limited extent. The exposure provided by IIIT Hyderabad and its excellent placement opportunities overshadows the much coveted IIT Tag making it a better choice among all institutes. But those looking for stability, facilities, academia, and vast opportunities can go for IIT Roorkee.

Which one is the best, chemical engineering at IIT BHU, civil engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar, or CSE at NIT Rourkela?

GH
Gagan Huda Posted On : July 28th, 2021
Former Pharmaceutical Engineer at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2016-2020)

It all depends on your interests and future goals. Check the following points before taking a decision:

  • Chemical Engineering: If a student likes Fast calculations, Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and practical inorganic chemistry.
  • Civil Engineering: If a student likes Maths(calculus), Geometrical drawings, Graphs, Physics(Thermal properties of matter)
  • CSE: If you like programming or are interested in developing your logical skills.

When the choices look upon, you must know that IIT BHU and IIT Bhubaneshwar offer a 100% placement rate while NIT Rourkela has a placement rate of 85%.

The average package of IIT BHU is around 8.19 LPA while IIT Bhubaneshwar is 15.8 LPA and for NIT Rourkela is 8.75 LPA.

Category IIT BHU IIT Bhubaneshwar NIT Rourkela
On-Campus 10 LPA 15 LPA 15.25 LPA
Off-Campus 65 LPA 45 LPA 30.6 LPA

It's not always about the placements rather it's about your interest and abilities to learn and explore a particular field.

If you don't have any idea which branch to opt for, then you can go to the branch in IIT as it would be great to have an IIT tag and to start a career with it.

Which institute is better for CSE, BITS Pilani, IIT Guwahati or IIT BHU?

NT
Nived Tripathi Posted On : March 20th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG)

When it comes to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) programs, IIIT Hyderabad is undoubtedly one of the best options available. The study environment and coding culture at IIIT Hyderabad are unmatched, making it a great choice for students interested in CSE.

However, if you are looking for a more well-rounded college experience that includes a relaxed and enjoyable campus life, an older IIT may be a better choice for you. While IIIT Hyderabad excels in academics, it may not provide the same level of student life experience as an IIT.

When deciding between colleges, it is important to consider all aspects of the institution, not just academics. For example, BITS Pilani is an excellent college in all aspects, but if you have the option of getting into an older IIT such as IIT Guwahati, it may be a better choice for you.

Similarly, when choosing between BHU and IIT Guwahati, it is advisable to choose IIT Guwahati. While BHU has recently been given the IIT tag, IIT Guwahati is now being compared to older IITs and is even beating some of them in various rankings.

Finally, if you do not get admission into CSE with a rank of 803, Mathematics and Computing (MnC) is always an option. In fact, MnC is a safer option with better placement opportunities at IIT Guwahati. So, you can always consider MnC if you don't get CSE.

What is your opinion about IIT Bhu?

VS
Varun Sharma Posted On : July 16th, 2021
Studied at IIT Kanpur (2019)

Since one of my friends was a student at IIT BHU, he mentioned a few things about the institution. Here I am sharing them to give you a proper understanding of how the college actually is.

  • Firstly, the campus of IIT BHU is open, no IIT entrance gate, having much less security is provided to students.
  • Occasions like DJ night were also canceled once as some students(not from IIT) came and threatened some people here.
  • This IIT does not have its own facilities. No auditorium to hold an orientation session for freshers, no badminton court of its own, and many other things.
  • You will not be given much attention if you are a newbie or not good at that sport. So, in these cases, forget that you'll be able to play as a player in the IIT BHU team.
  • Some of the professors teach well.
  • Lab people ask you to do what has not yet been taught in class.
  • Tutors check the semester exam sheets. Most of them want the exact answer, they don't check your knowledge, they check mugging skills.

These were some of the observed things. Although some of them are left, I think I have mentioned most of them. I don't want someone to have great expectations while joining IIT BHU and then face these things.

Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering: What cgpa is required to get the dream companies from iit BHU?

RG
Ritik Ghose Posted On : April 8th, 2022
B.Tech from National Institutes of Technology (2020)

As per the IIT BHU placement trends, big companies like Microsoft and Facebook don’t care much about CGPA. These companies select students based on their coding skills. They have a crisp and straightforward procedure for interviews. If you can pass the coding tests and answer the questions, you will be hired.

Companies like DE Shaw, Adobe, Arista, etc. give weightage to CGPA. But if you are good at coding, you can get selected, even with a low CGPA.

So, if your coding skills are on point, you don’t need to worry about placements.

Rather than placements, CGPA matters more at the time of internships. Many companies don’t shortlist students with lower CGPA. So, try to keep your CGPA above 8.
