Is it true that the second generation AIIMS (Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh) are suffering from lack of faculty and hightech medical instruments for MBBS UG course?

PA

MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

MBBS from any AIIMS is equally good and anyone who claims otherwise has false information or hasn’t been exposed to the facilities of these peripheral AIIMS.

As for the high-tech medical instruments, UG MBBS does not require such equipment and the course is conducted mostly through clinical exposure and not research work. For this, we need enough cadavers, well-furnished labs, OTS, and well-maintained lecture theaters.

Every AIIMS provides these top-notch facilities and has excellent infrastructure that promotes a healthy academic environment. The quality of the infrastructure is further proved by the pic below

AIIMS

What you see here is a modular OT and a high-tech faculty that is present only in institutes of national importance because of funding from the government.

AIIMS faculty recruitment is unique and thus it’s not easy to take in just anyone as a teacher here. Moreover, the faculty shortage does not affect the quality of education.

The results of all these AIIMS and the successful doctors they have produce are a testament to their worth and credibility that is almost the same as AIIMS Delhi.

AR

Here are some important points to consider if you are going to choose JIPMER for your MPH:

  1. INR 12,000 is the course fee for each year and the admission fee is INR 3000. The total fee comes to INR 14,910 for the first year and INR 8,760 for the second year. The fee is quite affordable, especially when compared with other private institutions in India.
  2. The course duration is 2 years. In the first year, the candidates have to involve in core research- Epidemiology and Biostatistics (quantitative/qualitative),

National Health Programs, and Health Management. The second year includes the advancement of all the first-year subjects. The subject of Health Promotion is also studied in the second year. There is no focus area or specialized study.

  1. Health Economics is taught superficially, and candidates may encounter problems in its application part
  2. The faculty of MPH at JIPMER is one of the best in the country and the professors have an in-depth knowledge of their field. The students are guided in every possible way
  3. The campus is good and the classrooms are air-conditioned. Pondicherry is a beautiful and peaceful place
  4. There is no fully functional placement cell in place in JIPMER.  IIHMR, TISS, and PGIMER have a fully dedicated placement cell
  5. JIPMER has a dedicated building for the School of Public Health

For MPH from AIIMS Jodhpur-

  1. There are a total of 20 seats, out of which, 6 are sponsored
  2. It is a full two-year program
  3. The course fee is INR 1 Lakh 40 Thousand for two years and INR 35,000 per semester for Indian students. For foreign nationals, the fee is 3000$

Some of the advantages of studying at AIIMS Jodhpur are academics at the same level as Delhi colleges, brilliant faculties, access to library and e-library, ragging-free campus, well-furnished single accommodation rooms, and decent mess food.

Disadvantages of AIIMS Jodhpur are its remote location and no outdoor life. Academic pressure leaves little room for enjoying college life.

I am getting AIIMS Rishikesh at AIR 889 and I am happy with it but should I apply for an upgradation to AIIMS Jodhpur? I am from Indore MP.

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : June 11th, 2023

Both AIIMS Rishikesh and AIIMS Jodhpur are at the same level in terms of the quality of education offered, infrastructure, and research culture. What sets them apart is the college life experience they offer and the students they attract because of their locations. The PG results prove the credibility of both the institutes so choose one based only on your personal preferences.

AIIMS Jodhpur has a slightly better cutoff than AIIMS Rishikesh as most of the toppers are from Rajasthan and end up choosing AIIMS Jodhpur over AIIMS Rishikesh. This shouldn't be seen as a differentiating criterion.

I am inclined towards AIIMS Rishikesh because of 2 core reasons. The newly launched MCG pattern for all its exams that help you prepare for NEET PG and its splendid location in the lap of mother nature. So it is best to stick to your decision and don’t opt for upgradation.

What should I choose, AIIMS Jodhpur or AIIMS Bhubaneshwar?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : June 10th, 2023

Both the AIIMS Jodhpur and Bhubaneswar are reputed medical colleges with similar curricula and facilities. Usually, students consider the proximity to home while making this decision. That being said, most North Indians prefer Jodhpur while South Indians prefer Bhubaneswar.

The other factor people consider is the nature of college life offered by these. Jodhpur is a tourist heritage city with a very hot climate whereas Bhubaneswar is a capital metro with a pleasant climate. Had I been in your place, I would have always chosen AIIMS Bhubaneswar over AIIMS Jodhpur. Here’s why

  • Trauma center: The trauma center offers practical experience and also trains the students to handle their emotions as a part of this challenging field.
  •  Mother And Child Block: A new Mother and Child block is on the way to promote Gynae-Paedia learning.
  • City life: Bhubaneswar has a student-friendly life with many top educational institutes. Top colleges like XIMB, IIT, IIIT, NISER, and labs like ICMR, and CSIR provide a student-friendly atmosphere. These institutes contact sports events, fests, and science and you can attend these events and make great memories and get exposure.

I don’t mean to demean AIIMS Jodhpur especially when it has the best sports facilities among all AIIMS. Ultimately it’s your decision to make!

Which is better out of GMCH Chandigarh, AIIMS Jodhpur and ABVIMS Delhi considering all factors? What are the pros and cons?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 10th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Among the 3 aforementioned institutes, ABVIMS Delhi seems to be the best choice in my opinion. A few benefits of joining this college are

  • The best part is the PG quota and many students come here for the same reason.
  • ABVIMS Delhi offers an altogether different vibe unlike those colleges reeking of rich heritage.
  • The college has a state-of-the-art infrastructure but believes in old-school teaching methodology.
  • There are interesting on-campus discussions that make the campus lively.
  • The college also enjoys the locational advantage of being located in the capital of India and has many places to explore outside the campus like Talkatora Garden and Sports Complexes, Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, Karol Bagh, Raisina Hills, and much more.

Which should I choose SMS Jaipur or AIIMS Jodhpur? Why?

Muskan Shafi Posted On : April 1st, 2024

AIIMS Jodhpur and SMS Jaipur are two very prominent medical colleges in Rajasthan. SMS Medical College is one of the oldest medical colleges in India, while AIIMS Jodhpur is a comparatively newer institute established in 2012. Keeping all the aspects such as rankings, infrastructure, faculty, hostels, and facilities into consideration, AIIMS Jodhpur is a better choice when compared to SMS Jaipur

  • Ranking & Reputation: AIIMS Jodhpur is an Institute of National Importance and is centrally funded by the government. It is the second-best ranked AIIMS in India after AIIMS Delhi, ranked 13th in India as per NIRF 2023. SMS Jaipur is however ranked 46th in India by NIRF 2023 in Medicine.
  • Campus & Infrastructure: AIIMS Jodhpur has a huge campus with a well-built infrastructure with modern technology and devices. The institute offers all major facilities on campus such as hostels, sports complex, gym, central mess, etc. AIIMS Jodhpur has well-built and maintained hostels which is not the case in most medical colleges.
  • Research Opportunities & Clinical Exposure: The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for medical research with access to advanced medical equipment. AIIMS Jodhpur also offers one of the best clinical exposure to its students.
  • Campus Life & Events: AIIMS Jodhpur has a vibrant campus life with opportunities for a lot of extracurricular activities and events. AURA, the intercollege fest of AIIMS Jodhpur, is one of the biggest and most awaited medical fest in India every year.
  • Fees: The fee for MBBS and PG courses at AIIMS Jodhpur is negligible. AIIMS Jodhpur MBBS fee is around INR 5,856 for the entire course which is literally much less in comparison to SMS Medical College which is around INR 50K per year.
  • Internship Stipend: The stipend that students get during the internship at AIIMS Jodhpur is far more than the state medical colleges like SMS Jaipur.

SMS Jaipur is also a very good institute with a legacy attached to it, however, the institute has a comparatively old infrastructure and fewer facilities and exposure than AIIMS Jodhpur. The batch size at SMS Jaipur is also big, i.e. around 250 students in each batch. The fee is also very high in comparison to AIIMS Jodhpur. Thus, AIIMS Jodhpur is a comparatively better institute than SMS Jaipur keeping in consideration all the points.

Should I opt for AIIMS Raipur over AIIMS Jodhpur if I am from Maharashtra as Jodhpur is further away? I am generally looking for good college and hostel facilities and infrastructure.

PS
Prayasan Sircar Posted On : November 16th, 2022
M.B.B.S. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Expected 2023)

Many students are confused while choosing their AIIMS College. AIIMS Raipur is usually ranked low in the list of 2012 implemented AIIMS.So firstI will address the misconceptions that l led to this conclusion:

  • People think that the hostel is far from the campus. When in reality you will be staying in the residential complex. You can come to the campus easily via a bus. Also you will be free from the fear of seniors. Also after a year you will be given single rooms at the hostel itself.

  • To have a look at its infrastructure, people refer to its old pictures which are misleading. The college and hostel are in fact massive and house thousands of students.

  • There is a rumour that AIIMS Raipur campus is incomplete. In reality, a dental college is being constructed.

  • People assume that since it’s located in Raipur, the crowd is also below average.

The only flaw is that the city needs development. All AIIMSs get equal funding and faculty distributed evenly. Yet AIIMS Raipur is underrated.

What are the hostel rules for AIIMS Jodhpur? Is it strict as compared to other AIIMS?

RS
Ronit Sen, Posted On : November 17th, 2021
studied at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur (2020)

Following are some of the facts you should know about AIIMS Jodhpur hostel facilities:

  • After 10:30 PM, you will not be allowed outside the hostel. This includes both boys and girls. If someone wishes to have an Overnight Pass, they can obtain it the same day.
  • Both male and female students are provided a Single Room throughout MBBS.
  • The rooms consist of a cooler, proper and well maintained beds, mattresses, a table and a chair.
  • There is no restriction on the number of gate passes one requires.
  • Vehicles are not allowed, but many students keep them. Some of the seniors also have their own cars.
  • ACs have been installed by some senior students in the PG hostel.
  • Trespassing to other hostels are not allowed, for both boys and girls.

Majority of the rules are the same as other colleges. The hostels usually during your initial years might come across as strict but eventually everything lightens up.
