IIT Gandhinagar has not released its M.Tech placement figures for 2023. However, students of M.Tech get offers from John Deere, Johnson Controls, Belcan India, Bombardier Transportation, Marvell Semiconductor, Hyundai Motors, RKC Infrabuilt, MCX India, and others.
M.Tech placements at IIT Gandhinagar are almost completely driven by core jobs. B.Tech placements, on the other hand, also rely on non-core jobs. This is why the placement percentage and average salary for M.Tech stand lower than those for B.Tech.
One of my seniors told me that for M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar, the average package goes to around INR 7-9 LPA. M.Tech placements completely rely on core jobs. Some other companies that give offers to M.Tech students include General Electric, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hatch Associates, GIFT, etc.
Overall, the M.Tech placement figures for IIT Gandhinagar are quite promising and they will further improve with time.
M.Tech placements at IIT Gandhinagar are just mediocre considering the fact that most companies prefer freshers and thus UG students are given more preference in placements. Students are given 2 or 3 chances with high packages in Electrical in the range of 10–20 LPA.
Some of the companies that recruited students from the Electrical branch in the past years are Texas Inst., Marvell, John Deere, Johnson Controls, Belcan India, Bombardier Transportation, etc.
Overall, IIT Gandhinagar despite being a new IIT has made its mark in the global market. The students are provided enough foreign university exposure and are encouraged to do research work as well. The institute not only strengthens your concepts but also gives you the most coveted IIT tag.
I completed my B.Tech ECE. Due to Covid-19, I got a direct interview call from IIT Gandhinagar for M.Tech ECE. I got interviewed on Google Meet.
Out of the four choices given to me, I opted for microelectronics and VLSI as my first preference. 20 minutes prior to the interview, I received a call from the technical supervisor asking me to be prepared. There were 3 panelists for my interview and all of them belonged to the Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Gandhinagar.
The interview started with a basic introduction and I was asked for my favorite subjects. After this, I was asked questions to assess my knowledge of the field. I am listing down the questions which the panel asked me-
The IIT Gandhinagar staff is quite helpful and supportive. I received 3 calls every 15 minutes to alert me before the interview. My interview went well and I got selected for the M.Tech program.
IIT Gandhinagar should be your last choice if you are willing to get placed in MNCs, the Private sector, or even PSUs. In IIT Gandhinagar Placements 2023, around 164 students sat for placements out of which 125 were placed. The placement percentage dropped from 92% to 76.22%.

The students who receive foreign internships have no will to pursue higher studies. The placements are pathetic in the sense that even students with a CPI of greater than 8.5 get placed in companies that an average college student would get easily. Overall, IIT Gandhinagar is too focused on placements and does not encourage preparing for competitive exams.
There are two aspects of a hostel. The first one is the physical building and the rooms, the other being the people and the culture of that place.
The rooms at IIT Gandhinagar hostels are well-ventilated and all the basic amenities like bed, almirah, table, chair and fan are provided. The washrooms are clean and washing machines are available for students’ use. There is a paid laundry service available as well and a canteen facility is provided inside the hostels.
Apart from the infrastructure, the more important part is the amazing people that you will get to meet at IIT Gandhinagar hostels. There will be discussions, birthdays, gaming nights, mafia nights, jamming in the music room and all sorts of fun during your stay over there.
You will have good interaction with your seniors and juniors and create endless memories with your friends. You will live as a part of a community, celebrate festivals with your friends and support each other in tough times.
You will have a great time at IIT Gandhinagar hostels and you will be provided with all the facilities over there.
IIT Gandhinagar has some of the best hostels among all the IITs. My cousin studying here once visited IIT Roorkee for the Inter-IIT cultural meet and concluded that their own hostels were the best. Additionally, she also participated in Invent@IITGN wherein she worked with people from 8 other IITs. They too said the same things that IIT Gandhinagar has the best hostel and mess facilities
Here are some detailed features of the accommodation facilities here
In a nutshell, the hostels at IIT Gandhinagar are the best among all IITs!

Whatever you grasp via the course should be authentic and is ensured by the department. You are required to focus upon laboratory components, projects, and internships. Not just experienced, but the department also comprises a team of young faculty too who are equally dedicated and dynamic.
Keeping research and teaching aside, faculties would also be seen engaging themselves in organizing various events which are camps, workshops, and constant campus visits so that the environment carries on a conducive environment that helps the students learn better.
I fail to understand what you mean by ‘behaving more like a private college’ and from where such a question stems from. If your comparison of IIT Gandhinagar with private colleges is to point out its features uncommon to other IITs then maybe yes, IIT Ganghinagar is certainly a bit different from the usual IIT standards.
Consider the following points to understand this further:
The list is not exhaustive and IIT Gandhinagar indeed is a unique IIT that has made its mark alone without the help of the IIT tag. It focuses on both the professional as well as personal development of its students, faculty, and staff. If you call such fast-paced growth ‘behaving like private colleges’ then it is what it is.
A senior of mine recently completed her M.Tech from IIT Gandhinagar. The following answer is based on her experience.
It has been heard a lot that IIT Gandhinagar is behaving more like a private college or a death brand IIT or a business enterprise. Some of the following points are looked at when such questions are asked:
The above points are some of the distinctive features which make the institute stand out. It continuously fights for the personal and multi-dimensional development of the students, staff, and faculty.
Playing the blame game is easy but it can be difficult to see the positives sometimes. In a decade, the institute has given a number of unique initiatives which are now being emulated by other institutes across India.
