Though both PES University and NIT Patna don’t have a sufficient reputation in the industry, NIT Patna can be a better choice because of the NIT tag. Having friends study in both the institutes, here are some things they mentioned -

Choosing any institute, which is near to the home city, is better than choosing any of the two institutes mentioned.
Both of the institutes are of below standard quality and have no reputation in the private industrial sector. This matters a lot in placement.
NIT Patna offers some amount of placement, at least better than PES University. The only reason behind the cause is the NIT tag.
PES University is not at all worth considering for an engineering degree in CSE.
It even does not fulfill the criteria stated by them and is considered fraud in some reviews.

This will entirely depend on your interest as you are comparing two different colleges and two different branches. If you are interested in one particular branch, don’t decide between the two colleges as they are both NITs.

You should first see where your interest lies and choose an option accordingly. If you are not sure, I will suggest you take CS in NIT Patna which is the better option. Here are the recent placement highlights for NIT Patna.

Regarding civil engineering, let me tell you that even if you land up at an NIT, you will have to prepare for GATE or ESE exams since the placement scenario is not that great.

With civil engineering, you will have to do a lot of hard work but with CSE, you will be able to enjoy college life and get good placements at the end of your degree unlike civil.

In the end, it boils down to your interests and what you are looking for.

NIT Raipur mechanical engineering department was established 40 years ago and the ME department is the founding branch of NIT Raipur. It also has better faculties and lab equipment. NIT Raipur’s Electrical Department is equally good. It is a well-recognized department and gives students proper exposure.

NIT Raipur also holds a good placement record. At NIT Raipur both the departments are good. You can choose any of these as per your interest.

Therefore, if you are thinking of joining the Mechanical or Electrical department then NIT Raipur would be a better choice between NIT Patna and NIT Raipur.

Without a doubt, IIEST Shibpur is the definite better choice among the two institutes for Civil Engineering and is indeed one of the best Civil Engineering departments in the country. My friends who study at IIEST Shibpur boast about their college, that it is great in so many ways.

I have friends studying at both IIIT Lucknow and NIT Patna, and according to their first-hand experience, IIIT Lucknow is the better choice here. Here’s what you need to know.

Curriculum: IIIT Lucknow has a great curriculumin terms of syllabus, classes, and coding culture. The competitive environment drives you to excel in every field.
Facilities: You will get high-tech facilities in IIIT Lucknow designed for engineering and coding. Events like Hackathons and other tech fests are equivalent to IIIT Allahabad.
Placements: My friend who completed his B.Tech from IIIT Lucknow experienced that your placement highly depends on how much you use online videos, courses to excel in your respective branch. Overall you need to be active and focus on improving your skills which might help you grab decent job packages. Moreover, the highest CTC recorded to 43 LPA while the average CTC is 18.4 LPA.

Check out some of the reasons why you shouldn’t choose NIT Patna.

Poor infrastructure: Unfortunately, the institute is not making much effort to improve facilities, organizing tech events. This is because they are currently focusing on the construction of the new campus of NIT Patna at Bihta near IIT Patna which is bound to be completed by 2024.

Poor accommodation: You will have to adjust to double or triple seater rooms because you won’t get a single-seater room in all of your 4 years. Also, the PG options are not good in the surrounding area.

Poor mess food: Just like the infrastructure, the Hostel Mess Committee is too reluctant to improve food quality in spite of knowing everything. Also, you won’t get any good quality restaurants nearby or any online food ordered after 10 pm.

Outdated curriculum: Institute is still following the old curriculum and has outdated labs. Even the Classrooms are too outdated with broken benches and no Projectors are used to teach.

Lack of extracurricular: There is a lack of proper clubs, sports facilities, tech-fests, and coding culture.

Overall, ECE at NIT Patna is not a good option. Go for CSE IIIT Lucknow any day for a great curriculum, great facilities, great location, and great placements. Also, the CSE branch gets you more chances of better placements in most colleges in India.

Comparably NIT Patna CSE is better. It offers lucrative salary packages. According to the recent placement highlights, NIT Patna CSE average package was INR 7.7 LPA. While the highest CTC offered to the student of this branch was INR 42 LPA. More than 90% of the students get placed from the CSE branch. Intel, Google, and Samsung are the major recruiting companies for CSE.

NIT Patna is a renowned institute for pursuing CSE where the placement rate is excellent. It is ranked 134th by NIRF 2019 and provides almost 90% placements every year.

NIT Goa rose to 87th rank among the best engineering institutes by NIRF 2019. CSE branch from this institute received 100% placements in top MNCs in 2020.

NIT Agartala is ranked 70th in the engineering category by NIRF 2019. The institute provides 100% for CSE branches almost every year.

NIT Hamirpur is ranked 60th rank in the engineering category by NIRF 2019. The placement record for this institute is 75-80% every year.

NIT or MNIT Jaipur ranks 71st in the engineering category by NIRF 2020. It provides 100% placements for CSE branch every year.

It’s difficult to determine which institute is better. However, given below are information about the colleges which may help you make the decision.

Ranking:

Nirma University: The college was ranked among the top 100 institutions in the country by NIRF in the academic year 2018.
NIT Patna: The college was ranked as 134th by NIRF among top engineering colleges of India in the year 2019.

Admission & Eligibility:

Nirma University: For M.Tech in computer science engineering they need to be graduated and secure at least 55% in graduation apart from that they need to give the GATE exam.
NIT Patna: To secure admissions in the college a candidate should get at least 50% in graduation and should appear for GATE exam.

Faculty:

Nirma University: For almost every subject the faculty of the college provides a tutorial and a theory class.
NIT Patna: The faculties are well qualified and have vast experience in both the terms, research, and even projects.

Placements:

Nirma University: The highest CTC that was offered was Rs.16.6 LPA and the average CTC that was recorded was 8.2 LPA. The top recruiting companies that visited the college were: - Infosys, Tata Motors, Amul, Amazon, Bajaj Alliance, Larsen and Toubro, Daiken, and Bajaj Auto.

This is a pretty difficult question as both the colleges are great in their own ways. National Institute of Technology (Patna) is ranked 134th in India among the leading technical institutes of India by NIRF. Whereas, IIEST Shibpur is ranked 19th among engineering colleges by NIRF. Let's compare some of the parameters which may help you choose which institute will be better for you.

Admission-

Both the institute offer UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs across various streams.

The entrance exam that is accepted for B. Tech courses is JEE Mains.

For M. Tech candidates the entrance exam accepted is GATE in both the colleges.
CAT scores are accepted for MBA programs.

Placement:

IIEST Shibpur witnessed a placement record of 311 students for the academic year of 2018-2019. The highest recruiting batch was Information Technology. 39.2 LPA was the highest salary offered in the 2019 placement drive.
Whereas, NIT Patna placed 279 students from the streams of B. Tech, M. Tech, B. Arch. The highest salary offered was INR 39.12 LPA and the average salary was record around INR 7.71 LPA in the 2019 placement.
