How is ISB Mohali campus compared to the Hyderabad one in terms of student quality, placements and education?

SG
Senjuti Guha Posted On : March 22nd, 2022

It’s hard to draw a differentiating line between the two campuses.

Peer Group:

The admission committee selects the incoming class and distributes it across the two campuses. So, you will get a similar peer group at both campuses.

Placements:

ISB Hyderabad and ISB Mohali conduct placements as a single school. Fore placements, students of one campus fly down to another. Students also don’t mention their campus on their CV. ISB Mohali placements 2022 had an average CTC of INR 34.07 LPA.

Education:

The quality of education and pedagogy are the same for both campuses. The faculties shuffle between the campuses and there are guest faculties from reputed B-Schools like MIT, Kellogg, LBS, etc.

At ISB Mohali, you will get almost the same academic experience as ISB Hyderabad.

What is the cost of doing FPM in ISB Hyderabad?

RA
Ritesh Agarwal Posted On : March 26th, 2021
Data Science/Machine Learning Professional, PhD from IIMA

It is to be cleared first that the FPM course is completely equivalent to a Ph.D degree. It takes approximately 4-5 years to complete, along with accurate learning and research work.

The fact is that ISB generally pays Rs. 40000 as a stipend along with House Allowances to the candidates who are doing FPM on a full-time basis. Thereby you are not required to pay anything from their own pocket, but they can earn 40 thousand per month.

However, the most important thing is that FPM requires accuracy to complete the study without spending money. So, you have to study with full accuracy, and earn support from this institute to carry on your personal and family expenses. You have to enroll as a full-time candidate and should not have any other source of income.

If you have any other second income, then it will not work. After completing this program, the student will get unlimited rewards, considering their knowledge and income.

What is the GRE cutoff for ISB Hyderabad?

AK
Anindita Kundu Posted On : May 21st, 2021
MBA from Indian School of Business (2018)

Having friends at ISB Hyderabad, I got to know that there is no such cut-off for ISB.

  • Firstly the interview panel checks your overall achievements starting from schooling till your graduation level, in the curricular and co-curricular field.
  • They examine your entire profile for your selection. Then you get shortlisted for further selection.
  • Many of them did not manage to get very high scores in the GRE but still, got selected. It is just because of their aptitude that is reflected in their profile.
  • It is easier for those who already served in the Indian army and then decided to enter ISB. It has been seen that they have already cracked the SSB exam so they must have higher values like integrity, patience, and discipline imbibed in their personality.

Thus we can say that there is no particular cut-off, but for ISB, Hyderabad you are judged according to your entire profile.

ISB Hyderabad's 1 year MBA program or Top 25 US B schools 2 year MBA program? Which is worth in the long run in terms of opportunities and pay package?

SG
Srinivas Gunda Posted On : January 30th, 2023
Audit Senior at BDO USA, LLP (2019–present)

You cannot logically compare US B Schools with ISB Hyderabad considering the difference in the quality of peer ground and overall education.

To give a better understanding, compare the ROI of both the B Schools. ISB Hyderabad MBA fees are around 24-28 Lakhs per year and considering the placement scenario, you cannot get a package of more than 15-18 Lakhs. On the other hand, the average fee of a US B School is around 120-200k Dollars and the salary one can expect from a B School is 120k. The ROI in the latter case is much better.

However, these ROI calculations have overlooked one part. As an International student, you'll need a job with a firm that sponsors h1b visas. This reduces 70% of coveted jobs. Now the hunt for a suitable job is tougher and you have to also hope that you win the h1b lottery. If you are unable to do so you might end up in India with a heavy loan of 80-90k Lakhs with an average salary of 15-20 LPA.

So we can say that US B Schools are always the better option than ISB Hyderabad but the risks involved are tenfold.

What GMAT score can be considered good for applying to ISB Hyderabad with an average academic profile?

BS
Bhavya Singh Posted On : March 18th, 2021
ISB Hyderabad

Several factors affect the chance of a candidate getting a seat in ISB Hyderabad. Not only the GMAT score, but also the application profile, essays, and performance in the interview combined together decides whether a candidate should get a seat or not in such an elite institute. The points listed below are some important aspects to consider for admission to such institutes.

  • There is no fixed cut-off for ISB Hyderabad, as declared by the institute. There are examples of people with a GMAT score of 720 not getting a seat from the interviews. On the other hand, there are candidates with a score of 700-710 but are successful in getting a seat in ISB Hyderabad.
  • GMAT score is not the only criteria for getting a seat, but the door to get an interview call. The quality of essays written by the candidate, his/her application/ profile, and the performance in the interviews are also considered.
  • For candidates with an average profile, a GMAT score of 720+, along with a complete application and a good essay can be considered to have high chances to receive an interview call. After having a call, the rest depends on how the candidate will perform in his/her interview.

This is the overall scenario for admission in ISB Hyderabad, for a student with an average profile.

MBA Preparation: What GMAT score can be considered good for applying to ISB Hyderabad with an average academic profile?

UP
Uday Pawar Posted On : January 30th, 2023

Generally speaking anything above 750 is a good score for admission to IBS Hyderabad. But even a high GMAT score does not guarantee admission to IBS Hyderabad because the shortlisting is profile-based. GMAT score is just a part of the entire selection process. You need to improvise your profile by working on other aspects also like

  • essays
  • profile
  • academics
  • extracurricular activities

Academics: Your 12th class marks graduation grades, post-graduation, and certification scores along with the GMAT cutoff is considered in your academic profile.

Leadership: The leadership skills of the aspirants are tested on the basis of their prior achievements and roles.

Personal attributes: This comprises your personal qualities like hobbies, talents, and extracurricular skills. Aspirants from diverse work experiences, cultures, and educational backgrounds are welcomed at IBS Hyderabad.

So along with preparing well for GMAT, give importance to these parameters as well to increase your chances of admission.

Which is better, ISB Hyderabad or IIM Ahmedabad for 1 year executive MBA?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 15th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

ISB Hyderabad is certainly a better choice than IIM Ahmedabad for a 1 year MBA executive. It has better faculty, an international student profile, an amazing campus, and more than 800 students in a single batch. The admission process is also simpler than IIM Ahmedabad. ISB Hyderabad has a much more diverse crowd than IIM Ahmedabad which usually comprises CS-related people.

PGP-X at IIMA is its flagship program whereas the one-year program in ISB is their main program so it carries more value and more focus is given to that program.

IIM Ahmedabad too has its own perks one of them being its rich legacy of 50+ years and an excellent alumni enterprise spread across the globe. Also, since the batch is smaller the competition is less so the placement opportunities are more. Recruiters coming to hire PGP students also roll out lateral offers for PGP-X students.

Ultimately, choose the one that aligns with your personal preferences and future goals.

How is the CBA course (certificate program in business analytics) by ISB Hyderabad rated?

KS
Krishna Srivastava Posted On : March 12th, 2021
Studied at Indian School of Business

My friend is an alumnus of this course from ISB Hyderabad and according to his experience, the answer to your question totally depends on these three-pointers.

  • Your experience
  • Your work profile
  • The goal of joining this course

Officially known as The Advanced Management Programme in Business Analytics (AMPBA) on their website, CBA (Certificate Course in Business Analytics) is a very good Analytics course offered by ISB. Currently, the 7th Batch of CBA is about to start. Undoubtedly, this course is competing with Great Lakes, IIM B, and L.

You will be fetching these benefits once you get in.

  • Brand Name (Very high as compare to anyone else in the market)
  • Globally renowned Faculty who deliver top-notch education
  • You’ll be meeting 100+ Peers from different backgrounds which provides you a very good networking opportunity alongside.
  • Education mode is purely Offline means you need to visit ISB every alternate month, which adds quite high value to this course.
  • You will be given time-to-time assignments and projects to boost your skills and knowledge.

Overall the course is great. You need to work hard to master the skill required to succeed.

How was your experience at ISB Mohali in general? Did you ever feel like you should've been in Hyderabad instead?

AK
Adarsh Kumar Posted On : January 30th, 2023
MBA from Indian School of Business (2020)

My cousin belonged to the Mohali campus of ISB and during her exchange term, she observed and compared the pros and cons of both campuses. I have listed the major pros of both colleges.

ISB Hyderabad

  • Huge batch size ensures peers from a variety of backgrounds.
  • The location is helpful for the students to maintain a good social life
  • ISB Hyderabad has a wider range of student-driven clubs and committed
  • The placement presentations take place at the Hyderabad campus and Mohali students get to join through a video call only

ISB Mohali

  • ISB Mohali has very few resident faculty as it has been recently established. As a result, the institute calls in the best faculty from colleges like Wharton, UNC, and Kellogg to teach. Their pedagogy is unique and ISB Hyderabad lacks in this aspect.
  • The campus is new so the accommodation facilities are better and made to suit all the necessary requirements. These hostels have better furnishing, space, and housekeeping facilities in comparison to the hostels of ISB Hyderabad.
  • The small batch size ensures the quality over quantity belief
  • The choice of electives is done through online bidding at ISB. Hyderabad campus with its huge batch size makes it impossible for all the students to get their choice of electives. Mohali students, in turn, face no such problem because of the small batch size

ISB maintains a strict balance between both campuses and the placement statistics are a testament to that as no major differences can be observed.

Overall my cousin never regretted choosing Mohali over Hyderabad and recommends the same to everyone.

What is the percentile required to get into ISB Hyderabad?

AS
Akanksha Sharma Posted On : January 30th, 2023
Studied at Indian School of Business (Graduated 2017)

In case you are enquiring about the CAT percentile let me clarify that ISB Hyderabad does not take into consideration CAT scores. It accepts GMAT/GRE scores only. Most importantly, the ISB Shortlisting process is profile-based. This means even with a lower percentile you can manage to get shortlisted provided you have an excellent profile.

There is no fixed cutoff for GMAT. However, a 700+ GMAT score isn't a must-have for ISB if your application is strong in other areas. According to an ISB spokesperson, candidates were admitted to the 2021 cohort with scores as low as 580, and as high as 780. So the GMAT score range for ISB is 580-780.
