I have a few friends from IET Lucknow, and here are some tips for you. Yes, you can get into IET Lucknow.

You will need a domicile of yours and your mother or father (of Uttar Pradesh). Only then you can get admitted to a state government college.

The domicile certificate is important as it is an official document provided by the state government to recognize the residence of a citizen. When you will check the AKTU site, check for papers needed for admission there you will get it.

You can take admission in any of the private colleges under AKTU but a domicile certificate is a mandatory thing to join a government college.

Some of my friends are from IET Lucknow. According to them, the placements of the CSE and IT branches are really good. Almost all the students get placed. The placement percentage shall be around 80-90% in both CSE and IT departments.

The salary packages offered to the students may vary from company to company. Or a student’s overall performance could also determine the job role and the salary package offered.

Generally, out of 60 students in a batch, 7 to 8 students are placed with a package of more than INR 5-6 LPA.

Thus it is not that tough to get a salary package of above 6 LPA. If your overall academic performance is good throughout your college life, securing a salary package of above 6 LPA will not be a problem. Also, remember that these could vary.

IET Lucknow is an autonomous constituent college of the state technical university of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). So it has to follow the rules, regulations, and entrance exam which the AKTU prescribes.

AKTU conducts the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) to admit students in its various undergraduate courses in its various affiliated colleges. So currently you can take admission in IET Lucknow only through UPSEE and not through JEE (Mains) rank.

I have a friend who is an alumnus of IET Lucknow and according to him, you should enroll at whichever decent college you can find with a good branch, as you won't have many options at your rank. 

And If you fall into the general category, your selections at this rank will be severely limited. If you are offered IET Lucknow, it will be better to take it. 

You should check out the JOSAA website for last year's closing ranks of different institutions in your category in the various stages, this will give you a good sense of what you might be able to achieve.

Until this point, there has not been any official orientation program held at IET Lucknow. What you can otherwise obtain is freshers, in accordance to particular departments and certain departmental fests. Having said that, there are various branch fests conducted every individual year, especially organized by the senior departments.

There are numerous clubs and teams, like the Drama Club, Choreography Club, Swaranjali Club (specially curated for singers), Literary Club, and more. You will have to enter these clubs and teams via an audition.

According to most of the students, all the branches of IET Lucknow are better than KNIT CS/IT. This is so because IET is situated in Lucknow, the capital of UP. 

1. The placement in big cities like Lucknow is much better than in small cities like Sultanpur. 
2. Students who want to pursue further education can easily get coaching for GATE which may not be easily available in Sultanpur. Every year, top rankers of GATE come from IET Lucknow. The GATE qualifying percentage of students of IET Lucknow is much better than any other institutes of AKTU.
3. Students with good ranks get admission to IET Lucknow. The study environment is better than all the other institutes of AKTU.
4. The hostel facility is available for all the students in IET Lucknow but KNIT offers hostel facilities to only a few.
5. In IET Lucknow, you can also get an option for Internal Sliding for choosing the branch of your preference if any of the few seats are vacant in that branch. 
6. Spot round is also conducted after the 4th round. These are held to fulfill all the vacant seats.

Placement statistics

The placement stats of students of IET Lucknow shows that talented and hard-working students of the college. If the student is passionate about CS and they do not have enough rank for IET Lucknow, then they can choose CS at another college, IET Lucknow is the top government college of AKTU.

The hostel rooms have basic equipment like every other hostel. IET Lucknow has 2 hostels named Ramanujam and Aryabhatt. The maintenance is better in the former hostel. The rooms here are equipped with the following:

• The rooms are suitable for 4 students for all 1st-year students. Each student will get a bed made out of plywood.
• 4 sets of almirah spacious enough each for one student. 
• A table and chair for each student 
• 2 Fans in the Non-AC rooms 
• Well-lit tube lights 

The rooms at IET Lucknow’s hostels are good and you will not have to worry about anything.

I have friends from both IET Lucknow and KNIT Sultanpur and according to them, you will not get any of IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur with this rank. Your OBC rank will not be of any help as selections in the spot round are done based on the general rank and there is no reservation. Also, at IET/KNIT, seats for core branches like CS/EC/ME, fill up first. 

If you are a fresher then I will suggest you take a year drop and appear for various entrance exams next year and, if you are not a fresher then, you can go to other colleges. You will not get the atmosphere like IET Lucknow anywhere else, and hence, taking a year drop will be the best in any case. The environment is very competitive at IET Lucknow. Even KNIT Sultanpur lags in this case. The location of IET Lucknow is perfect for coaching for exams like CAT, GATE, IES, IAS, etc.

One of my cousins similarly wanted to secure a seat at IET Lucknow in the 2nd year itself. He mentions that for indeed taking admission in IET Lucknow in the 2nd year, you have to first complete your diploma, and following that, during the 3rd year, you are required to sit for the UPSEE LEET examination.

Depending on the basics of the score you attained in LEET, you can further go on to securing admission at IET Lucknow via lateral entry.
