How good is ECE at NIT Trichy compared to NITT CSE?
Both branchers are slightly different except for a few topics that overlap in the curriculum. Comparing it with one another is not worth it as both have their own differences.
Let’s take a quick comparison for clearing one’s view:
- Efforts: CSE is much more on the lighter side than ECE.
- Professors: Neither of the branches has good faculty members but ECE is probably better.
- Students: CSE will have a lot of North Indians if you want to look it that way.
- Placements: CSE has no comparison to other branches in terms of opportunities not only in jobs but even in internships. 70% batch gets internships after 3rd year in very good companies.
- NIT-T Fest: This is one of the things which excites every student after placement statistics. It’s amazing out there.
It is suggested to select the field based on interest. Go for CSE only if you are inclined towards the field otherwise, both branches can give you ample opportunities to learn and grow.
Which is better, IIT Hyderabad mechanical or NIT Trichy CS?
Whether IIT Hyderabad Mechanical or NIT Tricy CS is ‘better’ depends on multiple factors such as your inclinations and career prospects. In short, if you are passionate about Mechanical Engineering then IIT Hyderabad is the best option. The placement opportunities will be average but the scope of higher studies ad research is great here. On the other hand, if you are inclined towards CS, NIT Trichy is the destination for you.
Apart from the branch, there are various other factors like the kind of campus life you want and your interest in getting placed. If you are looking for a glamorous campus life, NIT Trichy will serve you better. NIT Trichy is known for its rich extracurricular culture and has a lot of well-established student clubs. It also has excellent infrastructure and a huge campus with enough space for all of them. Those interested in programming, robotics, etc can pursue their passion as there are many clubs for the same. Here. your branch rarely matters as you will be involved in similar activities as everyone.
There are some students who are driven by the monetary return they will be getting and getting placed is their ultimate goal. In that case, it is important to know that placements in mechanical will not be on par with CSE. NIT Trichy placements are excellent and there are almost 100% placements. So placements wise too, NIT Trichy is better than IIT Hyderabad.
Location-wise, IIT Hyderabad has a slight advantage over NIT Trichy. So both colleges have their own strengths and weaknesses and your personal preference should be the ultimate driving factor.
In terms of both campus life and placements, I will rank NITT > IIT H irrespective of all other factors.
How are the placements going on at NIT Trichy this season?
The placements have been going very well at NIT Trichy. Most of the Core companies visit the campus for placements in August, and most of the seniors get placed in the placement drives. In addition to this, the internship opportunities for the third year students have been tremendously increased in recent years.
The official statistics have not yet been disclosed but the institute is expecting great placement records.

My JEE Mains score is 134. Can I get in NIT Trichy under home state quota this year?
One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy and here is what he shared about this question. Honestly, it might get a bit tough for you.
But this is not the end of the world, because you stand a chance to get into either Production Engineering or Metallurgy Department.
Since your JEE Mains score is 134 your ranking would be between 50000 and 75000. The cutoffs also depend on the category you are from.

Which is better for a north Indian girl student: to study ECE in NIT Trichy or to study ECE in NIT Surathkal?
If you have the chance to study at NIT Trichy, then I will suggest that you take it. NIT Trichy is the best among all the NITs. The ECE department of NIT Trichy is well established. The curriculum has been designed with equal focus on theoretical and practical knowledge. You will get to experience the best time on the campus. The alumni connection of NIT Trichy is great and you will get to meet the best people in your field during the multiple workshops and seminars that are conducted. You will also be guided by the best faculty members who are always eager to guide their students towards progress and improvement. The placement record of this department is great. The majority of the students get placed at the top companies.
Which is better: MME at NIT Trichy or CSE at NIT Patna?
When considering these two options, you’ll have to look closely at the course as well as the college-
MME at NIT Trichy- NIT Trichy is a top NIT. It is a well-renowned institution with the best of students, faculty, and campus.
- The campus is huge, which is great for an amazing campus life. However, there’s always a problem with commuting to big campuses.
- NIT Trichy offers good sports and extracurricular facilities. But talking about MME, the faculty isn’t that great at NIT Trichy.
- MME offers fewer placements and not-so-good opportunities in India. However, for higher education/ job opportunities abroad, the chances are better. Try to find out if you can go for internal sliding at NIT Trichy.
CSE at NIT Patna- Here are some pros and cons of joining NIT Patna for your CSE-
- Campus- The campus is pretty average, neither good nor bad. It is small when compared to NIT Trichy.
- Placements- The placements for CSE are very good at present.
- Faculty and Teaching Standards- The faculty of NIT Patna is average and the teaching standards aren’t really good.
- Co-curricular activities - NIT Patna also offers co-curricular facilities and you’ll enjoy participating in them.
- Wi-Fi, library, other facilities- Facilities aren’t top-notch overall. However, the central library has a good collection of competitive, academic and general books. It has high speed Wifi and AC.
- Clubs - The clubs aren’t top-notch. There are cultural and technical clubs. Hackslash is a club that conducts events and sessions on tech and coding.
CSE from NIT Patna will offer good placement opportunities. But you’ll have to compromise on an amazing campus and a great campus life. I recommend you talk with the alumni from both these courses and try to find out some more perks that I might’ve missed out on.
Should I choose NIT Trichy metallurgy over NIT Raipur ECE?
My friend is currently pursuing B.Tech from NIT Raipur in the mechanical department. His honest opinion says that you should go for metallurgy at NIT Trichy. Here’s why
- If you went for the wrong branch or found out later that this is not your cup of tea, then after the 1st year you will have an option called branch sliding. In this process, you can change your branch from the current one to the desired one based upon the number of vacancies and score.
- If you went for the wrong college, then there's no option as a college slide! You’ll have to devote your 4 years in that college anyhow, except if you again decide to give mains.
So, if you simply want to get into a better place then choose NIT Trichy. This is because you can get the advantage of branch sliding anyhow. However, if you don’t want to take risk of not getting the desired branch, then go for NIT Raipur.
At last, sort your preferences and know your sole aim. Because in the long run, your happiness and satisfaction are what matters the most!
What should I choose, NIT Trichy or Warangal Metallurgy or NIT Patna CSE?
I would suggest you choose NIT Trichy for pursuing CSE. NIT Trichy is the best among all the NITs. If your interest lies in materials or metal, then Metallurg is a good choice. Among all the NITs, NIT Trichy stands out for its continuous effort towards providing quality education to the students. NIT Trichy is known for its vast alumni network and industry connection which will help you to network with people from different walks of life.
In NIT Trichy, you will have the motivation to grow your career in terms of deciding to be an entrepreneur or pursuing higher studies. The Metallurgy department of NIT Trichy is old and is well established with experienced faculty who have many years of experience. The faculty makes sure that the students not only learn about the subject but have a practical understanding of the subject and its various domains.
What is special about NIT Trichy's computer centre?
My brother is currently enrolled in B.Tech at NIT Trichy. As per his experience, Some of the things which the students sometimes dislike at the Computer centre of NIT Trichy include:
- The students are not allowed to wear shorts inside the centre building.
- The concerned authority members can ask to take a look at IDs randomly.
- The printouts are not free even for the students.
- The institute charges the students at the end of the program.
Now, coming to some of the good aspects about the Computer Center at NIT Trichy.
- The centre has many computer systems which are in great working conditions.
- The internet access is pretty good 24X7. (earlier it was available only from 6 AM to 9 PM)
- A lot of students go to the computer laboratories at the centre for the purpose of studying especially during CT’s.
- The laboratories at the centre are fully air-conditioned.
- The computer centre is well-maintained.
- Construction was going on a while back at the centre. For sure, it must have been expanded now.
How will the presence of IIM Trichy and BIM affect the MBA students of DoMS NIT Trichy during the placement season?
The MBA students of DoMS NIT Trichy will not be significantly affected by the presence of IIM Trichy during the placement season. NIT Trichy is a well-known technical institute and around 60% of the companies that come for Techies also come for NIT Trichy. This means that there is a set of companies that are already open to hiring NIT Trichy students. In the past few years, more and more companies have opened up placements for DoMS, increasing the percentage placement conversion from these companies. The Training and Placement Committee also works to bring in more companies that align with the interests of the students.
Additionally, there are alumni connections that can be utilized. There may be some challenges with companies based in Chennai or Bangalore coming from BIM, but IIM Trichy has a different set of companies and therefore will not greatly impact NIT Trichy in that regard.
