Is it possible for IIT JEE aspirant crack IPM (IIM Indore) entrance test?

SM
Saurav Mishra Posted On : August 25th, 2021
IPM at IIM Indore (2019)

It is possible if you are ambitious enough and you are willing to work hard. But both are really very different tests; one focuses on science and advanced mathematics while the other focuses on quantitative and verbal proficiency. There are some benefits for an IIT JEE aspirant to crack the IPM test which is listed below.

  • As both are MCQ-based exams, you will have a practice of the same.
  • Some subjects of mathematics such as probability, logic, and algebra are common to both the exams and thus may help you.
  • Both are high-pressure exams. Thus giving IIT JEE will make you acclimatize with this high-pressure environment and make your time management and other strategies better.

Other than that, you will have to study for both the exams separately and will have to work extra hard to ace both the exams.

If you are considering doing an undergraduate degree at DU or IIM Indore IPM course, then choosing DU will be better. DU courses are affordable. You will have options to explore after graduation. Delhi is definitely a better location compared to Indore. You can prepare for IIM A, B, and C after your graduation. DU and IIM ABC will offer you better placement opportunities.

Why should I choose IIMK over IIMI?

MN
Mudit Nawani Posted On : January 5th, 2023

My brother was confused about the same. He later decided to go for IIM Kozhikode. Some reasons that helped him take this decision are

  • Smaller Batch-size: IIM Kozhikode has a smaller batch size (475 students) in comparison to IIM Indore (572 students). The reason for it being the IPM program merging with the PGP Program. The placements are affected and the larger the batch size the fewer opportunities you will get.
  • Lower fees: The fees of IIM Kozhikode are a bit lower ( INR 20,50,000) than IIM Indore (INR 21,14,222). So with almost the same curriculum and opportunities a lower fee is better.
  • Location: Kerala is God's own country. You will not regret stepping into the serene campus of IIM Kozhikode. Moreover, you can explore Southern India which is filled with natural beauty.
  • New culture: The culture of South India is very different from that of Central and Northern India. So you get to learn new things and traditions.

Apart from these differences, both IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore are similar with respect to their status, faculty experience, Alumni network, equality and diversity of students, and foreign exchange opportunities.

Is the batch size at IIM Indore a cause of concern for prospective students?

AS

One of my friends recently graduated from IIM Indore and according to him, if you are decent in your studies and among the top 70% of your batch, then there would not be any issue regarding the Batch size. Top 70% means you will have to be among the first 70% of students who got placed. Beyond that range, there would be little difficulty.

Bigger batch size has its own advantages and disadvantages. There might be more of a disadvantage while you are in the institute. But these things work out once the college gets over and you will definitely get a larger support base for your career from your peers.

How many times can I write IPMAT (iim indore)?

SB
Soumi Bose Posted On : August 27th, 2021

You should first meet the age limit criteria before you can give the IPMAT. Here are some of the regulations that the college has laid down for the same:

  • You should be born on or after 1st August 2001 if you are from the general and OBC categories.
  • If you are from SC, ST, or PwD category, you will probably get a 5-year relaxation, i.e. 1996 as your birth year.
  • You need to pass your 12th grade with the minimum percentage set for that year.
  • You can take the exam as many times as you like, as long as you meet the percentage and age limit criteria.
  • Most students give the IPMAT right after their 12th grade. Some even decide to give it in the 1st year of their undergraduate degree or in the 2nd year as well.

If you happen to crack the exam in any of these attempts, you can join the college if you like. But, in case you are not able to crack the exam in your attempts, there is a silver lining. You can consider it as your prep for any of the MBA entrance exams.

Is IIM Trichy better compared to IIM Indore?

NL
Nishant Lamba Posted On : January 3rd, 2023
Studied Accounting and Finance (Graduated 2022)

New IIMs are being projected as amazing institutes when the truth is far different. The media is relaying false information for the sake of publicity.

So I will personally recommend the following not to join any new IIMs at any cost.

  • For people who come from Top Tier engineering colleges (IITs/ BITs etc) and have a salary of more than 10 lakhs per annum in the tech space
  • For Entrepreneurs or aspiring Entrepreneurs

I will recommend the following to join any IIM

  • For people who are not from a Top College and have a salary of less than 5–6 lakh per annum
  • For people who come from Top Tier (T1) Engineering colleges and have ruined their graduation

These recommendations are based on the expectations of many. But please don’t consider joining the new IIMs unless it’s the last option you have.

What is the minimum package of IIM Indore?

HC
Hema Chaudhary Posted On : January 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Indore

One of my friends is a pass out of IIM Indore and she claims the placement statistics are rather misleading in comparison to the actual figures.

The highest package is usually around INR 14 LPA and if you are really qualified then maybe INR 20 LPA. The average is around 8-10 LPA. The lowest CTC stoops as low as 5-6 LPA. Moreover, many students even fail to land a job after completing the program. The reason behind this is the lack of popularity of the program among recruiters. They don’t want to invest in a relatively new and uncertain course, rather they prefer B.Tech + MBA students.

Now let’s talk about ROI. The fees for the first 3 years is INR 5,00,000 per year. The total fee is around INR 25,00,000. Including the additional expenses, we can say it’s around INR 30,00,000. Comparing the fees with the placement we can easily say that the ROI is terrible. You will have to spend many years paying the loan back.

How is the FPM in Finance at IIM Indore, Lucknow, Kozhikode?

S
Sumit Posted On : January 3rd, 2023
Works at CDGI Indore (2013–present)

The FPM or the Fellow Program in Management is a full-time, residential, fully financially supported doctoral program of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.

One of my friends joined IIM Kozhikode for research under financial accounting and control. According to her, the first year is full of rigor and a rigid curriculum. The FPM students share the curriculum with MBA students in the first year along with 3 FPM courses. The shared curriculum enables them to get in insight into various aspects of Management.

Like the first year, the second to has 3 semesters of 3 months each. This year comprises core FOm courses that give a depth understanding of methodologies and various econometric tools.

One major drawback my friend faced was the improper ratio between the number of courses and their period of study. The second year has 7 courses in each term which imply 12 days per subject which is insufficient. If we consider the 30 hours of classes per course, it means we attend classes for 210 hrs ( appr 8 days).

So IIM Kozhikode no doubt offers top-notch facilities and resources but you will have to prepare yourself to physically and mentally tire yourself to avail of them. FPM is an excellent course for research aspirants and not for casual learners.

What is the age limit for IPM IIM Indore exam?

RB
Rishi Basu Posted On : August 27th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Indore (2019)

If you are a student of the general or OBC category, you will have an age limit of 20 years of age to register for the IPM Aptitude Test. For candidates of the SC and ST category, you have an age limit of 22 years.

Other than this, make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria. You need to have 60% aggregate marks in your high school (10th grade) and higher secondary (12th grade) for general and OBC categories.

If you are from the SC/ST or PDW category, the above criteria is lowered to 55% aggregate marks.

LG

Placement Coordinator - IIM INDORE MUMBAI CAMPUS

Studying at IIM Indore makes you proficient in

  • Dealing with different types of people.
  • Working under rigid schedules.
  • Multitasking
  • Many other useful skills (for example SPSS)

IIM Indore has one of the biggest and most beautiful campuses of all IIMs. The campus is more like a city wherein we have our own shuttle buses, movie screenings, Olympic size swimming pool, food outlets, etc.

Almost every festival is celebrated here and there are special feasts for each festival, like the Durga Pooja feast, Ganesh Chaturthi feast, Eid feast, Onam feast, Pongal feast, etc. There are special Christmas, New year, Lohri, and Holi celebrations also.

One major highlight is the Rural Immersion Program in which you spend a week in the villages in groups of 3 to 4 to ascertain the progress of Swach Bharat Abhiyan. Another initiative on the part of students is the Himalayan Outbound Program where you get to spend a week in the mountains.

The farewell marks the final chapter of these beautiful 2 years. There are 2 farewells, one is organized by the cultural committee and the other one is organized by the institute administration.
