How different are the career paths of individuals who pursue their MBA in HR from XIMB/SIBM/SCMHRD as compared to those from XLRI/TISS/MDI?

SK
Sabitha Krutarth Posted On : May 18th, 2023

The answer can be divided into two main parts: Curriculum and Placements.

In terms of Curriculum, TISS is rated as having the best. Colleges whose core degree is not HR will be at a disadvantage when it comes to curriculum.

In terms of Placements, XLRI is ranked as having the best package and profile offerings, followed by a tie between TISS and SCMHRD. The colleges whose core is not HR will not offer as good a package post-MBA as compared to the colleges with core HR competencies.

In terms of packages offered, XLRI can be ranked the highest, followed by SCMHRD and TISS in a tie, and then MDI, SIBM, and XIMB.

How should I work on my profile to get an admission at XLRI?

AS
Arnav Singh Posted On : June 18th, 2021
PGDBM Marketing & Operations Management, Xavier School of Management (2018)

Unlike admissions to B schools in other countries, Indian B schools place more importance on test scores than on a profile. So, the first step is to begin studying for the XAT. Here are some of the tips that you may find useful.

  • The preparation would be comparable to that for the CAT, however, there is an additional section for decision making that you can learn from the official GMAT guide's Critical Reasoning portion. As all these portions are not included in the cutoffs, a little essay writing practice and brushing up on GK during the last few days would be beneficial.
  • Continue to improve the GD-PI and communication skills, as you may not get enough time to prepare after the announcement of the interview date.
  • As for the profile, NGO experiences can be useful during interviews.
  • Make sure everything you claim is genuine since faking it in front of an experienced panel can backfire.

If you are working for a company, try to learn as much as possible because anything could be questioned during the interview, especially on the specialization you want to pursue at XLRI.

Will XLRI Delhi have the same placement like XLRI Jamshedpur?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : February 2nd, 2023
PGDM BM from Xavier School of Management (Graduated 2021)

It is highly unlikely that XLRI Delhi will be able to replicate the level of success in terms of placements that XLRI Jamshedpur has achieved. XLRI Jamshedpur has a rich history and reputation, having been established for over 70 years. The brand value that has been built up over this time cannot be replicated overnight, or even in a few years, by simply opening a new center.

Additionally, the decision to open a new campus in Delhi may be viewed as a whimsical decision made by the current XLRI administration, without fully considering the implications and potential challenges of such a move. Building a reputation and brand value takes time and effort, and cannot be achieved through shortcuts or quick fixes. It is important for XLRI Delhi to focus on building its own reputation and brand value, rather than trying to replicate the success of XLRI Jamshedpur.

This can be done by providing high-quality education, fostering a strong sense of community among students and faculty, and developing partnerships with leading companies in the industry. It is also important for XLRI Delhi to establish its own unique identity and not to be seen as a mere replica of XLRI Jamshedpur.

Are less than 60 btech graduates given admission in FMS Delhi,XLRI.XIM and JBIMS Mumbai?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : May 10th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

FMS Delhi, XLRI, XIMB, and JBIMS are all highly regarded B-schools in India that offer postgraduate management programs. As these programs are PG courses so they require candidates to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

The number of seats and admission criteria for these programs may vary from year to year and depend on factors such as the number of applicants, the performance of the applicants in entrance exams, and the selection process of each institution. Below is a table of batch sizes of all these colleges;

Institution

Program

Approximate Batch Size

FMS Delhi

MBA

200

XLRI

PGDM

360

XIMB

MBA

360

JBIMS Mumbai

MMS

120

Although all these institutes try to keep the batch as diverse as possible still the ratio of B.Tech and non-B.Tech is highly skewed towards B.Tech. So, it is unlikely that less than 60 B.Tech graduates are admitted to these institutions. These institutions typically have a rigorous selection process, and the number of seats available is usually limited.

However, the exact number of B.Tech graduates admitted to these institutions may vary depending on the specific program and admission cycle.

What percentage of students admitted to XLRI has no work experience?

DD
Devdarshini Dey Posted On : June 18th, 2021
MBA from Xavier School of Management (2019)

Every institute offering an MBA degree has some percentage of students who are freshers or can be said to have no work experience. XLRI too has the same, with some change in percentage over the years. The points below might help you answer your question.

  • Earlier, the percentage of freshers in XLRI used to be quite high, due to certain reasons.
  • Recently, there has been a gradual decrease in the percentage of freshers at XLRI, along with the changes in the structure of admission across all Business Schools in India.
  • The policy of western Business Schools is to always prefer candidates with good work experience and even had strict policies that only candidates with a certain minimum limit of work experience can get admission.
  • The top Business Schools in India have started incorporating this policy of allowing only experienced candidates with time.
  • The gross percentage of candidates with some work experience in XLRI is even higher than 70% at present. Even in IIMs, the condition is the same.

Therefore, there are few candidates only who get admission in XLRI and IIMs with no work experience. But, the count is not zero. There are factors that can still be enough for a candidate’s profile to be as good as an experienced profile for selection.
