I am a production and industrial engineer who got placed in Trident (Barnala). Meanwhile I have the option of joining NITIE (elite institute for PI engineers). What should I do?

MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

A few years back, one of my friends faced a similar situation as you. You should go for option 2 i.e. opt for NITIE Mumbai reason being the following.

  • Firstly it is a great college and leaving it for Trident Group could be your mistake if you want to go for PG in your career.
  • The second being Trident Group pays handsomely, but the money while working there will not be satisfactory especially for employees who have come from an engineering background.
  • I have friends who worked there and according to him, 70 percent of campus recruitment employees leave Trident Group to shape their future because of which this company has deteriorated.
  • At last, you will get a very good job after passing out from NITIE.

So, choose wisely and make the right decision for yourself.

In between a PSU and NITIE what should I choose?

SK

PGDPM from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

One of my friends has recently encountered a similar situation and can describe the event better. Here is what he has to say,

  1. In his last organization, he acquired the chance to engage in work with a graduate of NITIE, Mumbai.
  2. His ideas, perspectives, and thinking process were mildly different from most others. His concepts often came up better.
  3. There can however be a slight skew of the packages when necessarily compared to PSU. However, the takeaway from a B-school is usually considered better in every cause whatsoever. Yes, you might as well find similar talent in PSUs, but the learning environment at any B-school is highly optimized and gigantically improved.

From the parameters mentioned above, it can be evaluated that PSU is a good choice nonetheless. However, a B-school like NITIE definitely arrives with a lot more offers than usual. It reaps more benefits over the time period than is generally anticipated. Thus, choose wisely.

How much 10th, 12th and graduation percentage matters to get admission in NITIE through GATE?

RS
Rachita Sen Posted On : August 16th, 2021
Studied at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering

I have a few friends who graduated from NITIE, so I think I can give you some insight regarding the admission procedure. The academic scores of your 10th, 12th, and graduation do matter to get in NITIE through entrance exams.

Here is the weightage distribution for selection.

  • 50% weightage is given on the CAT exam or the GATE exam percentile score.
  • 35% weightage given on Academic Records of 10th,12th, and graduation.
  • 15% weightage given on GD round and Personal Interview (PI).

Your work experience also matters. However, having a low score during your school or college should not discourage you as NITIE puts more emphasis on the GD and PI rounds.

Do academic marks matter at all in summer placements in NITIE, Mumbai?

SA
Shruti Agarwal Posted On : August 12th, 2021
Studied at NITIE Mumbai (2019)

According to my friends studying at NITIE Mumbai, there are many important points regarding academics and summer placements:

  • Many companies come for placements and summer internships.
  • Your marks or skills are determined by the company.
  • There are several companies that fix a cutoff criterion to take part in their placement process. The candidates above the cut-off need not worry about the marks.
  • Some companies have strict HR policies in which academics are given more preference. The more your grades are the better chance you have of making it through.
  • Academics and personality are given more leverage.
  • Some companies don’t have any HR policies at all. They just give a guideline regarding the placement process to be kept short.
  • They also use a cutoff method (2 points) at least.

The candidates having low grades or academic performance can try for their placement with the Student Placement Committee. This helps to push your CV through the cutoff.

Raman Bhattacharya Posted On : August 20th, 2021

Yes, some of my friends have got admission to NITIE through GATE. NITIE Mumbai currently offers a total of five postgraduate degree courses.

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM)

Which is best among NITIE Mumbai, SIBM Pune, and IIM Rohtak for MBA?

AP
Arijit Pathak Posted On : January 18th, 2023
Former Consultant at KPMG (2019–2021)

In terms of placement, NITIE is the best followed by SIBM Pune, and finally IIM Rohtak. In terms of brand value, IIM Rohtak comes first, followed by NITIE and then SIBM.

Depending on whether you want the IIM tag, you should attend NITIE, SIBM Pune, or IIM Rohtak for Operations. NITIE has a firm grasp on operations and is well-known for it. Furthermore, the Mumbai location is advantageous. If you want to pursue a career in marketing, SIBM Pune should be your first choice.

IIM Rohtak will be considered after these two colleges because it is a relatively new brand that, like the other IIMs, will take time to establish itself.

AM
Anjali Mishra Posted On : August 13th, 2021
Studied management from NITIE

NITIE Mumbai is one of the topmost B- Schools in India with a stellar placement record. NITIE offers 5 major courses, i.e. PGDIM, PGDMM, PGDPM, and PGDISEM.

Here are the recent placement highlights for NITIE.

Final Placements 2020:

  • Highest CTC - INR 58.24 lakhs per annum
  • Average CTC - 21.5 lakhs per annum (Domestic)
  • Median CTC - 20 lakhs per annum
  • Top 10% of the batch average CTC - 39.81 lakhs per annum
  • Top 20% of the batch average CTC - 34 lakhs per annum

Around 34% of the Class of 2020 received pre-placement offers and pre-placement interviews through their summer internships at top corporate companies.

Various recruiters such as Amazon, Deloitte, Flipkart, HUL, ITC, P&G, Philips, PwC US Advisory, etc. visited the campus for the placement drive. NITIE is a preferred destination for recruiters.

A total of 143 recruiters attended the placement drive and recruited 268 students.

I would say that being in NITIE there is a pretty good chance that you'll earn more than 20 LPA if you are in the top half of the batch.

What are some standard placement criterias in NITIE?

AS
Aamna Sharma Posted On : August 18th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

NITIE Mumbai being one of the top-notch colleges among other MBA colleges like TISS, JBIMS, NMIMS, etc. has an enormous impact among students who are MBA aspirants.

Check the following points for a brief about placement criteria:

  • The selection criteria vary from company to company basis as the hiring mechanism is not ordinary. Sometimes shortlisting is done by the recruitment team which is part of the HR function.
  • One of my friends works where HR does not play the most important role. But the consulting function takes care of the hiring.
  • In NITIE it is quite a subjective shortlisting mechanism and then elimination takes place through personal interviews.
  • Further, your academic scores are considered.
  • People will definitely look at other aspects of your profile while shortlisting you.

Moreover, the scores play a major role. Each company has its own selection criteria which may include some things like aptitude test, psychometric test, group discussion, and personal interview.

Companies visiting the campus for summer or final placements release a shortlist based on the candidate's grades and it’s not sure whether the company considers one or not.

Which is better, NITIE or IIM Trichy?

JT
Jayant Thakur Posted On : January 25th, 2023
MBA in Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management & Operations Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (Graduated 2020)

NITIE is superior to IIM Trichy in every respect. There are many students who have received calls from several other top business schools but ultimately chose NITIE as their first choice. Some may argue that IIM Trichy has the prestige of being an IIM and is more well-known to the general public, but the individual believes that what really matters is the reputation of the institute among employers. NITIE has a strong reputation in the field of operations and a good return on investment, as well as the advantage of its location. It also provides numerous opportunities for industry experience.

A lot of students believe that it is not worthwhile to choose a business school based on its potential status in 15 years, as by that time, the individual will already have achieved success and the specific business school they attended will not matter as much.
