What is better: PGPM at IIM Trichy or Great lakes Institute of Management, Chennai?

PT
Pragya Tripathi Posted On : January 21st, 2023
Studied at Great Lakes Institute of Management (India)

IIM Trichy may be a good choice if you value the brand value of IIMs. However, Great Lakes Institute of Management (GL) outperforms IIM Trichy in several areas:

  1. The average CTC at GL is INR 17.86 LPA, while at IIM Trichy it is INR 17.01 LPA. However, the one-year program at GL allows students to enter the job market faster, mitigating the difference in CTC. In addition, the batch size at GL is larger and the highest CTC offered is higher than that at IIM Trichy every year.
  2. GL has a higher quality faculty compared to IIM Trichy and can only be compared to the top 5 institutes in India in terms of faculty.
  3. GL has a larger alumni base.
  4. Some companies, such as TCS, offer higher tier profiles to students at GL compared to those at IIM Trichy. Both institutes have a focus on IT placements, making this comparison significant.
  5. GL is recognized by AMBA, one of the three largest business school accreditation organizations, and is also a GMAT preferred school.
  6. The quality of students at GL is on par with IIM Trichy. The average CAT/XAT score at GL is 94%ile, with a cut-off around 90. The average percentile is likely to be higher than IIM Trichy as the cut-offs for reserved categories at IIMs are lower.

There are numerous comparisons where GL outperforms IIM Trichy. However, other B-schools such as JBIMS, MDI Gurgaon, and IIFT Delhi may also be considered over new IIMs.

Which company offers 66 Lakhs salary in FMS Delhi MBA placements and what was the domain profile?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : January 3rd, 2023
MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, the University of Delhi

It may seem inappropriate to reveal the recruiter's name, but the company was a bulge bracket investment bank and is a regular recruiter at FMS Delhi.

It only hires from the country's Top 3 Business Schools for its coveted front-end Investment Banking position. The company only hires through the summer placement process from three Indian business schools whose Finance curriculum, practical exposure, and candidate quality meet the company's high expectations, which include a salary of INR 66 LPA.

The company typically hires candidates with Outstanding academic records from Old IITs/BITs/CAs/Top Commerce Colleges and conducts interviews that can be very challenging, especially when focusing on the candidate's business and financial intellect. Interns who can manage an 80-100 hour work week during their summer internship while consistently delivering high-quality analysis, ideas, and presentations are offered a Pre-Placement offer for their coveted Front End Investment Banking role. During the two-month summer internship, the company pays a stipend of Rs 2 lakh per month.

Is it worth choosing IIM Ranchi, Trichy for MBA in terms of placement and future scope?

SK
Shravan Kumar Posted On : January 11th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2018)

Yes, you can easily choose IIM Ranchi or Trichy based on their placement statistics because the placement scenarios at both IIMs seem promising despite the lack of infrastructure and campus facilities. In many cases, Trichy and Ranchi have exchanged leads outside the ABC and LIK worlds. All can be overcome if you are taught by the best professors.

Elaborating further, IIM Trichy seems better than Ranchi or Rohtak to me. The reason being the superior teaching methods and its favorable location both for students as well as recruiters. Apart from Trichy, other IIMs are also doing fairly well compared to non-CAT MBA institutes. These are doing well with the help of sponsor IIMs which arrange faculty and placements. These in turn select their own Directors and invest in the infrastructure required in another 3–4 years as Trichy and Ranch have already done.

Can MBA be done after 12th?

JB
Joyeeta Bakshi Posted On : October 30th, 2020
MBA in Logistics & SCM from BK School of Business Management, Ahmedabad (2021)

Two of the best and demanding courses that the management aspirants look forward to after class 12 are Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) and Integrated MBA (BBA+MBA).

While most of the students prefer doing MBA after BBA course, the idea of saving a year has attracted many students towards a BBA and MBA integrated course or integrated BBA+MBA course to a great extent.

The five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) launched by IIM Indore in 2011 is the first in India. It is unique, and also a creative program meant for young students with managerial and leadership qualities.

Based on the IPM, IIM Indore attracts young students and mold them as outstanding leaders by providing world-class education. IPM is aimed at those students who have passed class XII/Higher Secondary or equivalent schools across India.

The trend of integrated courses is relatively recent, yet several colleges are offering this combination to students.

The list of top Integrated (BBA + MBA) colleges for students interested in pursuing the five years integrated course are as follows:

Name of College

City/State

Lovely Professional University (LPU)

Phagwara

Institute of Management Nirma University (IMNU)

Ahmedabad

IIKM Business School

Chennai

Universal Business School (UBS)

Mumbai

Sanskriti University

Matura

Mody University

Sikar

North India Institute of Technology (NIIT)

Bijnor

Doon Business School (DBS)

Dehradun

Integrated MBA (BBA+MBA) course opens up working at the managerial post from the beginning itself.

The list of career choices are as follows:-

  • Sales Manager
  • Digital Manager
  • Logistics Analysts
  • Management Consultant
  • Operation Manager
  • Retail Manager
  • General Manager

Thus, an Integrated MBA from a renowned institute is both costly and lengthy. If you invest five years of your career, make sure that you pick only the best Integrated MBA course college.

Among the three mentioned colleges, Jaipuria Noida is best for an MBA. Some of my friends who have completed their MBA degrees from here are currently doing well. Sharing the details given by him about these colleges might help you understand.

  • The facilities at Jaipuria Noida are excellent. They are professionals, quite cooperative, and have a friendly nature and behavior.
  • Jaipuria Noida has a NAAC ‘A’ grade accreditation for the second cycle, NBA accreditation, AIU recognition for all its programs.
  • Their advanced industry-centric course curriculum has won the Indian Management conclave award in 2016. These are the reasons for Jaipuria Noida to stand out.

Is it worth doing an MBA from Indian B-schools like SCMHRD or JBIMS or will I always be inferior to those from top IIMs or XLRI?

AG
Anamika Ghose Posted On : August 18th, 2022
Master of Business Administration, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

Doing an MBA from top IIMs and XLRI have its advantages. These are the best management schools in the country and offer excellent career opportunities and exposure. But it doesn’t necessarily mean pursuing an MBA from JBIMS will not be worth the investment. It ranks right after IIM ABC, XLRI, and FMS. It has maintained a stellar placement record over the years. JBIMS placements 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 27.63 LPA. The return on investment is great.

SCMHRD isn’t as reputed as JBIMS. But it is also a good B-School with decent placement record. The average CTC for SCMHRD is around INR 16 LPA.

Can someone give an honest review about MBA from Welingkar, Mumbai, and PUMBA? Keeping in mind that I have a below-average profile until now and had a year drop in my graduation.

Sanjana Shah Posted On : June 24th, 2021
PGDM from Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (2017)

Having friends in both the institutes, I might be able to help you with the question. Welingkar, Mumbai, and PUMBA are two opposite colleges, and comparing them is the same as comparing the North and South directions.

  • Welingkar has a cut-off of 99 for MMS and in the course of PGDM, the cutoff is above 70 percentile which should be scored in CET.
  • If scored above 70 percentile, a person would be called for GD and PI.
  • On the other hand, PUMBA in CET has a quite good cut-off ranging from about 94-95 percentile.
  • The campus is quite good also as it offers the whole Pune University Campus to sit and have fun in.
  • Along with the cut-off and campus, It's also better in terms of ROI.

Is it benificial to do MBA from Indian Maritime University (IMU)?

SD
Shivani Dasgupta Posted On : December 28th, 2021
studied at Indian Maritime University

MBA in Shipping and Port Management is a niche field of study. But this course is in high demand. If you are interested in the field, it doesn’t really matter that it is a specialized field. A graduate in Shipping and Port Management with decent skills makes almost double/triple of their equivalent MBA graduates. The reason for it is the less number of good Maritime professionals.

IMU offers decent MBA courses. The Kolkata campus has a good faculty base. However, you shouldn’t entirely depend on the on-campus placement drive for employment. If you have the required skills, you can easily get placement opportunities.
