NIT Trichy develops your physical as well as holistic personality. It makes you confident with all the extracurricular activities it has to offer. Nit Trichy would be better overall and will definitely help you grow as an individual.
If you are considering pursuing a course in Data Science at NIT Trichy, it may be helpful to understand the differences between the Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Computer Applications (CA) departments. While both departments offer courses in this field, the quality of education and faculty expertise may vary.
It is worth noting that the CSE department at NIT Trichy has been facing a shortage of proper faculty, with some important undergraduate courses being taught by temporary faculty members. This lack of expert faculty in the Data Science domain may be one of the reasons why the course is offered by the CA department instead.
To gain a better understanding of the academic and research profiles of the faculty members in the CA department, you can refer to the institute website for more information. This can help you make an informed decision about which department to choose based on your interests and career aspirations.
It is also important to consider the placement opportunities available after completing the course. While it may be true that certain companies hiring for PG students may not differentiate between candidates from the CSE and CA departments, it is still worth researching the placement records of each department to ensure that you are making the best decision for your future career prospects.
Ultimately, the decision of which department to choose should be based on a variety of factors, including the quality of education, faculty expertise, and career opportunities. By doing your research and carefully weighing your options, you can make an informed decision that will set you on a path toward a successful and fulfilling career in Data Science.
I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.
The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.
Industry:
Academia:
Within ISI:
If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs.
You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. Because after the break you will be swamped with coursework for 1.5 years.

If NIT Trichy is your only option, then you can go for it. But for Civil Engineering infrastructure can be a vital factor.
The budget that usually is allocated for infrastructure incorporates buying lands from peasants to fund the research later on with a low-cost housing or environmental impact assessment.
If you have chosen Civil Engineering, based on your electives, you could opt to specialize in Hydraulics engineering, Structural engineering, Environmental engineering, Building materials, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Infrastructural engineering, and other relevant disciplines.
It is best to get familiar with the topics briefly noted above. Based on your knowledge and expertise, choose one (or more, if required) of the many specializations and then do a brief research on the basic amenities, like faculty strength and similar aspects of NIT Trichy.
However, in terms of academics, NIT Trichy is an excellent choice.
The average package for the Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE) branch at NIT Trichy during the 2022 placement was around 7-8 lakhs per annum. However, the actual package offered can vary depending on various factors such as the student's academic performance, skills, and the company they are hired.
Some students from ICE branch have also been known to receive higher packages in the range of 10-15 lakhs per annum. It's important to research the specific companies that hire from NIT Trichy and their salary ranges to get a more accurate idea of the potential packages for the ICE branch.
The answer would be Yes. One of my friends had completed B.Tech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from NIT Trichy. The course is definitely tough but the level of difficulty perceived may differ from person to person. And here is some of the information about the course.
Sheer multi-disciplinary nature of subjects :
Involvement in Laboratory activities :
Programming and Analytical skills :
Product design and Development :
Design specification :
These were some of the aspects that make Instrumentation and Control Engineering tough. The course is pretty involved and demanding. Though all these mentioned aspects and skills are required to be a successful Instrumentation engineer.
It’s difficult to compare these branches or any other branches of engineering until and unless you specify the parameters of comparison. Scope, placements, future opportunities, etc., play an important role in differentiating the branches. Also, you should choose based on your interest and future goal while opting for a branch rather than on such parameters.
Now, if you do not have any interest in any particular branch and like most of the students out there, are doing it for the B.Tech tag, you can opt for any of the branches. Both the branches at NIT Trichy are at par. You will get decent placement opportunities from both the branch, provided you maintain decent CGPA. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC offered by NIT Trichy is 6 LPA.
The hostel facilities provided in NIT Trichy are excellent. There are many hostels in this college but the best hostel for the students is the Diamond hostel.
There are some other hostels too inside the NIT Trichy campus which are as follows.
Before choosing a room, do check out the wifi speed personally as slow wifi speed can be very frustrating and it consumes a lot of time while accessing the internet.
The classes at NIT Trichy start at 8:30 AM and lasts till 5:10 PM. There will be classes in two phases. The timing for morning classes is from 8:30 AM to 12:10 PM and for afternoon classes it is 1:30 PM to 5:10 PM.
On some days, afternoon classes will be canceled and only the morning classes will be conducted. The number of cancelled classes depends from department to department. The CSE department has a lot of cancelled classes and you would be free by 3:30 PM. But this is not the case with EEE & ECE departments as here all the classes are conducted regularly.
If you are residing in these hostels Garnet, Agate, Coral, Diamond then you can wake up before 5-10 mins of classes as it is located nearby to the lecture halls and you can easily reach on time. But if you are residing in Amber or Opal hostels, you will have to wake up at least 30 minutes earlier to attend the classes on time as the rooms are very far from the lecture halls.
The timing for hostels depends upon the class. For 1st year boys, the entry timing is till 9:30 PM and for others, there are no such fixed timings and you can come at any time. But for girls, the timing is only till 9 PM and there is no exception in timings for anyone.
