What should I prefer, KJ Somaiya IT or CS from Thadomal Shahani?

RS
Rishabh Suman Posted On : June 1st, 2021
studied Computer Engineering at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering

There isn't much of a difference between IT and CS, forget institutes individually where you would pursue them. Both CS and IT happen to consist of more or less the same subjects and the course pattern is also similar. There are only a handful of subjects that do not match when it comes to the subject courses of CS and IT and trust me, that isn't as important as it seems.

Eventually, it is all about your choice of college. It is assumed that you have done some prior research beforehand on the institutes. A former student of this institute who I know would also suggest not giving too much importance to the branches either.

Also, special mention to KJ Somaiya as along with the benefits of autonomy, you would be able to grab better placement opportunities for yourself at reputed companies with a handsome salary package. The top recruiters of the students of KJ Somaiya are Cognizant, PwC, Amazon, etc. Till now, 90% of students have been placed and the CTC was as high as 29.75 LPA and the average CTC stood at 9.4 LPA. Banking, Financial Services, IT are the sectors which recruited the most students.

Is the IT branch at IIIT Bhubaneswar good?

SM
Shubham Mehta Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (2019)

Being a government institute, any degree pursued at IIIT Bhubaneshwar holds a lot of value in everybody’s eyes. As it is an old institute as well, the faculty is quite educated and experienced in its way of teaching and delivery methods. Their methods are well-tested and very effective for their students.

The institute believes a lot in practical approach and this is the reason why labs and other rooms are very well-maintained as well as up to date for its students. The entire campus is also Wi-Fi-enabled which makes it easier for students to study online. Though to take admission in the IT branch of IIIT Bhubaneshwar, one might need to reconsider his/her financial position as pursuing at IIIT Bhubaneshwar is quite expensive.

Being in a city that is also a hub of big company’s headquarters like Tata, IIIT Bhubaneshwar also ends up providing a lot of job as well as internship opportunities to its students, especially of the IT branch. The placement rate offered by the institute to its students is also fairly good and satisfying.

The coding environment provided by the institute is also very satisfying. Seniors at the institute add a lot to the coding club of the institute as well as to the open sources. This helps the institute’s students a lot. In the past few years, IIIT Bhubaneshwar has achieved a lot under its name. It provides a very resourceful environment to its students which eventually ends up helping them in their studies. The institute also encourages its students in development projects. It also uses local web apps made and managed by students within the institute.

What should i choose IT BVP or IT MSIT (GGSIPU)?

SS
Sakshi Sharma Posted On : July 2nd, 2021
Studied B.Com from Janki Devi Memorial College, Delhi University (2019)

One of my friends studied at BVP and his experience was really good there. You should go for IT at BVP. BVP is the most active technical college of IPU. They have a lot of active societies while CSI and IEEE and have many coding competitions frequently.

Though IT at MSIT also has good facilities, it is not good and does not make any efforts for the welfare of students.

Categories IT at BVP IT at MSIT
Course Fee 5.11lakhs 4.69 lakhs
Highest CTC 10-11 LPA 13 LPA
Average CTC 4-5 LPA 4.5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Byju’s, TCS, L&T, GE Digital, etc. Microsoft, Josh Tech, ZS Associates, Optimus, etc.

Let me tell you that even though my brother was in MAIT, he got his first internship through BVP rather than his own college. Go for BVP without thinking any further.

What is the scenario of the IS branch in Acharya Institute of Technology, Bangalore?

NB
Nikunj Baid Posted On : April 13th, 2021
B.E. Mechanical Acharya Institute of Technology, Sri Krishna Institute Of Technology, Bangalore, 2020

One of my seniors graduated from the IS branch of Acharya Institutes. He has seen a considerable number of students quit because they had complaints regarding the non-payment of their salaries. They looked for better opportunities in other colleges. He did not find anything better about the department apart from the HOD and a few other lecturers.

If you are looking for employment in companies that are service-based, you will most likely get placements. If you are looking for help and motivation from your peers or faculty, you will probably be disappointed. My senior and a lot of his peers got little to no help with the same, including research activities. My senior suggests that you should choose ISE at Acharya only when you do not much have many choices and/or if you have a low rank.

RG

Studied at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal

RGPV is a government college and because of this all of the courses which it offers are quite good to get a well-reputed job. IT or CSE will be the best option if you want good placements. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at UIT RGPV is 3 LPA.

Now, whether you will be able to prepare for UPSC, along with your engineering degree or not, that depends on you.

  • You can go for UPSC preparation whilst you are enrolled in IT. All of the possibilities depend on how motivated you are.
  • Moreover, if you try to finish learning your engineering courses on time, you will have ample duration to sit and study for UPSC.
  • Furthermore, try to be with the group of students who are also preparing for UPSC so that you can be with them and prepare well with them. Studying with your peers will help you to achieve your goals easily.

What should a 1st year IET Lucknow student know from the IT branch?

SC
Saksham Chaudhary Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2018)

My sister is an alumnus of the IET Lucknow IT branch and here is some of her advice regarding the branch.

  • First and foremost, you must identify which field you are interested in. If you want to work in software development, you should be able to create code in an object-oriented programming language like C++ or Python, and you should practice by solving puzzles on Hackerrank.
  • You should enter several programming competitions; code chef long and lunchtime are highly suggested. Basic data structures can also be learned via Mycodeschool and you can practice on Hackerank and Geeksforgeeks.

Now let’s talk about the IT branch at IET Lucknow.

  • There is no difference between IT and the CS branch. Both branches face the same situations and follow the same curriculum.
  • Only TCS and WIPRO are the regular companies to attend the placement drive; the rest are uncertain. Occasionally, a large number of companies will arrive, while other times, none. According to the placement statistics of 2020, the median CTC offered was 5 LPA.

So, unless you have some senior help, the development of your talents is entirely dependent on your own hard work.

How is the IT branch in CUSAT and CUCEK?

ST
Sunil Trivedi Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Bachelor of Technology Engineering, Cochin University Of Science and Technology (2020

In Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) engineering is offered by SOE (Kochi) whereas in CUCEK engineering is offered by (Alappuzha). Having friends studying in both the colleges, I can say that they are equally good.

  • When it comes to the IT sector CUSAT introduced IT in India and is considered a pioneer for the IT sector.
  • The IT branch is well facilitated in both CUCEK and SOE and is considered a good course to opt for here.
  • Both the institutes are well established and have created a name for them.
  • Faculties in both are well trained with a lot of experience.
  • Both of them have world-class labs with the latest equipment and technologies to equip students with the latest inventions.
  • Placements are also good for IT. Mostly they get placed in the southern region of the country like in Bangalore, Hyderabad and etc with good packages.
