Ranking-wise the preference order of the above-mentioned courses is

IIT Delhi > IIT Kanpur > IIT Roorkee > IIT BHU

Based on their closing rank, the branches can be arranged in the following order

Chemical>Metallurgy>Textile

This was based on general data, but if you have an inclination towards a specific branch, then go for it without much hesitation. Your passion will keep you motivated despite various challenges thrown at you. But in case you have no specific preference, then you can consider the college and branch ranking to make an informed decision.

Apart from CS and Electrical, students from most branches opt for non-core jobs which require much more than their core academics for placements. In that case, you can prefer IIT BHU over IIT Roorkee.

Ultimately, the final decision is yours to make. Choose wisely considering various factors like location, friends, etc,

Both IITD Mechanical as well as IIT BHU CSE are good branches.
IIT BHU is 100 Years old Institution and offers a huge Alumni Network. The course curriculum of CSE is designed in a way that will give you enough Industry exposure. Coding Culture at IIT BHU is also very impressive with 10-12 GSOC Selections every year. Moreover, besides Technical things at IIT BHU you can build up other skills since there are many clubs for Extracurriculars like Aeromodelling Club, Robotics Club, Business Club, Cultural Societies, Film & Media Council, etc. Apart from this, the Life at IIT BHU campus and city life of Varanasi is amazing. IITD is an old well-reputed IIT. Faculties of the Mechanical Department at IITD are very good and experienced. Also, Peer Group at IITD is very competitive since many top rankers join this college. Mechanical Engineering course curriculum is good and one which provides industry skills. Besides Academics IITD too has many Clubs, Societies where students can join to develop different skills. Also, Campus life of IITD and the City life that Delhi offers is quite amazing. Placements too at IITD are good. In 2019 Mechanical Engineering was the brunch with the highest placement records. What do IIT Delhi hostels look like?

Jasmine Grover Posted On : February 5th, 2024

My sister was allotted 3rd floor as a fresher at Kailash hostel, at IIT Delhi. She was a bit disappointed at the time that there was no lift facility, and she had to carry her entire luggage all by herself.

She shared a two-seater room with two other girls because of lack of accommodation facilities. She and her roommates somehow made space for three beds and three table-chairs in that small room. The room was barely left with any space to move around. Thankfully, they got a balcony in which my sister managed to keep her cupboard. The room did not have any space for a cooler, and the hostel had a common washroom. A lack of cooler was very upsetting for her because of the harsh Delhi summers.

During her final year, got a single occupancy room on the ground floor, in the same hostel. But the room was still quite small, and she could barely fit in her clothes and shoes in the given space. The washrooms were still common.

Even though she fondly remembers her days at IIT Delhi, she is always vocal about her disappointment with the accommodation facilities of one of the premiere institutions of our country.
