I am not exaggerating by saying the IMT Ghaziabad hostel offers the best food you can get at a mess. My cousin was once a student there and had to pay INR 9000 for both food and lodging combined.
- The mess was initiated and is run by the mess committee which is a student body.
- Everything related to the menu is decided by the mess committee and is feedback based. So the food which most people dislike is taken down while the food which is everyone’s favorite remains on the menu.
- The seasonal dishes are offered regularly
- The taste is pretty good provided that you have lowered your expectations and are not comparing the messy food with homemade food
- Breakfast is the most elaborate and coveted meal of the day and seasonal fruit is offered every day.
- Non-vegetarians can satisfy their taste buds and thrive for a week.
- The campus canteen is also available and functions 9-5 am.
- There is a coffee vending machine within the campus for coffee lovers
- You can walk to the Kavi Nagar market for more variety of food.

Which college is good for an MBA with 44 months of experience, K. J. Somaiya or IMT Ghaziabad?
KJ Somaiya is definitely a better option of the two. My cousin is a KJ Somaiya alumni and he claims the college to be one of the best in the country

- You can expect a high ROI from this college
- It has seen an improvement in its rankings and now its NIRF ranking is 71st
- The placement scenario has changed for the better. The placement percentage this year was 93%, the highest CTC stood at Rs.22.50 LPA and the average salary stood at Rs.12.23 LPA
Judging from these points one can easily say that KJ Somaiya is a better option than IMT Ghaziabad. Also if you have an excellent resume and a strong profile you can also go for IIMs or other top B Schools.
How good is finance in IMT Ghaziabad? What are the placement opportunities? How is it compared to PGDM general?
IMT Ghaziabad is called the Mecca for Marketing. It’s well known for its specialization in Marketing, Sales, and Business Development based roles. I don't think it offers similar opportunities for finance as well. The placements are pretty good but getting internship offers is difficult for someone who is switching careers from IT to Finance.
So if you really want to pursue a career in Finance after your MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, you can try CFA, and FRM and have some past background in Finance
With a CAT percentile 92.34 what is my chance in IMT Ghaziabad?
With such an excellent percentile you are bound to get a call from IMT Ghaziabad. The next major thing you need to prepare for is the Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. The final shortlisting is done on the basis of your overall performance.

I can say with certainty that IMT Ghaziabad’s placement figures are highly inflated mainly because my own sister was a victim of the same. The placement committee portrays the inflated packages in different ways. The situation is worse at IMT Delhi. The students who join such colleges are mainly drawn because of the placement reports feeling wronged and rightly so.
IMT Ghaziabad’s summer placements witnesses most of the batch receiving stipends of around 15-20k only. Some students even have to go for unpaid internships. Most of the students get placed in start-ups only.
The final placements are all the more inflated with so many hidden variables that make it even impossible to identify the root cause of inflation. A major part of the batch receives an in-hand salary of around 60-65k only.
The new IIMs also have inflated placement figures but this problem is way more serious at private institutes like IMT, NMIMS, SIBM, and SCMHRD. The real average package offered at IMT Ghaziabad is around INR 10 LPA only. Many students are offered packages as low as 5-6 LPA while many remain unplaced.
How is your life after IMT Ghaziabad?
I know a friend who led a stagnant work life before joining IMT Ghaziabad. After completing his MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, he was offered a much higher salary. His profile did improve but then life challenged him with other problems. He worked as a BA in an American firm. After working for 2 years he finally switched to a Big 4 firm.
IMT Ghaziabad is an old Institute and one’s career prospects depend more on their own motivation and determination here. If you are serious about succeeding you can make the best of the 2 years here and get good roles.
I have seen many students able to get placed because they belonged to the lowest level in class and many same students who were mediocre in studies but managed to grab good roles. So luck is another factor that determines your prospects.
