Yes, IET Lucknow takes admission through JEE Main. From 2021 the institute started accepting JEE Main scores. Earlier IET Lucknow admission was done based on USEE scores.

The required cutoff varies depending on branch, category, preference of college, availability of seats, etc. Popular branches such as CSE usually have a higher cutoff requirement.

Some of my friends from school are students of IET Lucknow. According to them, with this rank, you will get a seat in any branch of IET Lucknow. The latest UPSEE cut-off is shown in the following table.

Courses (IET Lucknow) General
M.B.A 87 - 192
M.C.A 63 - 138
B.Tech in Information Technology (IT) 560 - 655
B.Tech in Computer Science Eng. (CSE) 193 - 342
B.Tech in Electrical Eng. (EE) 1045 - 1255
B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering 773-979

A few years back a friend of mine got admission to the branch of engineering with a rank of 2415 in the general category and a rank of 518 in the OBC category.

So, there’s a good chance that you will get admission at IET Lucknow.

Can I get into CSE in IET Lucknow this year with a 2,371 rank in general quota taking into consideration that this year HBTI is through the Mains?

You have to wait till the final counseling takes place which is open for all. In the meantime, you should take admission in any branch you get there and wait for final counseling.

Taking into consideration that HBTI is now not taking admission through UPSEE the first option for students would be IET Lucknow.

Talking about the previous year's closing general rank in CSE was somewhat around 2600. So you can predict the answer to your question.

Check the cut off rank for IET Lucknow:

Branches Opening & Closing Rank
Chemical Engineering 929-20821
Civil Engineering 180-1260
Computer Science and Engineering 2-120
Information Technology 233-325
Mechanical Engineering 424-1310

But you can also opt for EC, EE, EI, CE, and CHE as CS, IT, and ME may get filled earlier. In my opinion, you won't be getting any CSE seats on this rank in IET Lucknow.

How is IT from IET LUCKNOW? Wat is scope after this?

AM
Abhinav Mishra Posted On : August 5th, 2021
B.Tech from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

My brother is an alumnus of IT IET Lucknow and he was able to give some ideas about the IT branch. Here are some of the factors about the branch which you may find useful.

The placement scenario changes with every passing year. This all depends on how the IT sector is functioning. But mostly in the IT sector, you can see a rise rather than a downfall. Under normal circumstances, you can expect a job in his hands before passing out from college.

  • Top companies such as TCS are the mass recruiter in IET but many more companies like Airtel, Idea, BSNL, Wipro, TCS Digital, etc visit the campus so you can see that opportunities are there. According to the recent placement highlights the median CTC offered to the students is 5 LPA.
  • Moreover, IT is a self-financed branch in IET Lucknow means no permanent faculty and high fees. In IET Lucknow there is no particular department for IT but it is supervised under the CS department.

So, this was a short brief on the branch and I hope it assists you in some way.

How do I can become professor in IET Lucknow?

PV
Piyush Verma Posted On : August 10th, 2021
B.Tech from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

There are two types of faculties in IET Lucknow. The one is regular faculty, who are part of the permanent family of IET. Another is the contractual faculty, who are employed based on a contractual tenure.

The regular faculty vacancy is tough to come across. However, the institute posts the contractual faculty vacancy more frequently.

Visit the official website of the college and check the vacancies accordingly. You will find the notifications, process, interview dates, and all other details about the contractual faculty selection.

Most of the contractual faculty make their path to becoming regular faculty through networking. But non-PhD holders have a disadvantage. They may end up getting tagged as Assistant Professors.

Am I lagging behind (in the sense of a career) from my friends who are in IITs and I am in IET Lucknow (mechanical)?

MG
Muskaan Garg Posted On : August 9th, 2021
M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2022)

The term career means a lot regarding your life and goals. For most of the students, their definition of success is to become a successful engineer in their respective fields. One may agree that IITs make halfway for their students to get succeeded but the rest of the halfway, students have to go themselves to become a successful engineer.

It is important to note that not all IITs have 100% placements. Some have 85-90% placements. The students who did not get placed via IITs may wish to pursue further studies and yet not become successful in their careers. Even after higher studies, the placement selection percentage is 85-95%. Thus, one can not predict that they are lagging based on IITs.

If big firms such as Google, Microsoft, Walmart do not come to the college for placements, you should try for off-campus placements as well. These companies often hire off-campus and on referrals.

For more reference, one must maintain their LinkedIn profile and mention all their data and skills.

What should a 1st year IET Lucknow student know from the IT branch?

SC
Saksham Chaudhary Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2018)

My sister is an alumnus of the IET Lucknow IT branch and here is some of her advice regarding the branch.

  • First and foremost, you must identify which field you are interested in. If you want to work in software development, you should be able to create code in an object-oriented programming language like C++ or Python, and you should practice by solving puzzles on Hackerrank.
  • You should enter several programming competitions; code chef long and lunchtime are highly suggested. Basic data structures can also be learned via Mycodeschool and you can practice on Hackerank and Geeksforgeeks.

Now let’s talk about the IT branch at IET Lucknow.

  • There is no difference between IT and the CS branch. Both branches face the same situations and follow the same curriculum.
  • Only TCS and WIPRO are the regular companies to attend the placement drive; the rest are uncertain. Occasionally, a large number of companies will arrive, while other times, none. According to the placement statistics of 2020, the median CTC offered was 5 LPA.

So, unless you have some senior help, the development of your talents is entirely dependent on your own hard work.

Can I get into IET Lucknow with my general rank of 3348?

SD
Shubhra Dhanuka Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Harcourt Butler Technical University (2020)

I have a friend at IET Lucknow and he confirms that with a general rank of 3348, you should get admission at the institute.

From what was seen recently a few years back, a big number of seats were vacant in the government colleges. So for this, they did two spot rounds and the students who had their ranks in the 15000s also managed to secure seats for themselves.

If this happens in the future, then you can secure seats in Civil or Chemical Engineering with ease in IET Lucknow or any other government college that is under AKTU. Do not keep only IET Lucknow in your sights and also look for other options as well.

You can also get admission through category rank or any quota if you have it.

Can I get CSE in IET Lucknow if my CRL rank is 1164 and my OBC category rank is 285 in the UPSEE exam?

Studies CSE at IET Lucknow 2022

Given your rank, you have the slightest chance of securing a seat in IT eventually until it is the last round of counseling.

  • Following your admission, you can try acquiring a seat in CSE at IET, Lucknow via internal sliding.
  • In contrast, even if you still do not secure yourself a seat in CSE via internal sliding, you will still have a fair chance of getting your branch changed at the end of your first year.

Here is a detailed analysis of the cut off followed previously by IET Lucknow for the OBC category:

Courses Cut Off (OBC Category)
B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) 357 - 495
B.Tech in Information Technology (IT) 724 - 941
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (EE) 1545 - 1690

The only condition to this is that you have to belong in the top 5% of the branch. On the other hand, IT still is not a bad choice to go for.

With this rank, you might or might not get CSE in IET Lucknow, but you still have your options open regarding choosing from a pool of other branches.
