One of my friends is pursuing her BA(H) in Applied Psychology from Amity University. According to her experience, Amity University is definitely not the best, but it is not a bad option either. Given below is a brief review of the course.
Faculty:
Attendance:
At Amity, attendance is a big issue. You need to maintain at least 75% attendance in each subject.
Extra-subjects:
In Amity, you don’t join psychology or any particular course, but the baggage of other subjects like foreign languages, English, BS, EVS, and many more. You will have to study a total of 12 subjects in the first semester itself. Out of these subjects, only some of them are useful, the rest do not even matter if they were a part of the curriculum for psychology or not.
The BA Psychology department has almost 1800 students in the department, 7 sections for BA Psychology Hons, and each section has 60 students. The faculty members are not at par with the count required to teach 7 sections. So, you might face some difficulty with the lectures taught because of the huge crowd of students attending the lecture, all at the same time, in the same hall. But this problem is temporary.
Extra-curricular:
Fee Structure:
As far as fee structure is concerned, it will cost you around 1 lakh per year, which is quite high as compared to DU, which has an annual fee of 10,000.
The number of girls in each section is more. The ratio of the number of girls to boys is 8:1. It would be best for you to go for options like Ambedkar University or DU. But Amity is not that bad. You would definitely enjoy those 3 years in the university.
Amity University Noida has its own agriculture institute named Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture. The institute has under graduation and post-graduation in agriculture. Infrastructure: The institute fulfills the basic necessities required for the course which include Wi-fi availability, well-equipped laboratory, organic farm, and a good library.
Before looking into civil engineering in specific within these colleges, Amity is definitely much more renowned than Acharya Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangalore. Considering the NIRF ranking of Amity over past years, which always managed to stay around 30, it is one of the top private institutes in India. On the other hand, Acharya is known to be a good college in Bangalore city.
Fee Structure:
How good the college might be one will always take the fee amount into consideration before selecting the college.
The average annual fee in Amity is around INR 3.11 Lakhs and that of Acharya is also around INR 3 Lakhs. But the first year fee in Acharya is around 6 lakhs while for the rest of the years being around INR 1.8 Lakhs. The overall amount remains nearly the same, it’s about affordability here.
Placements:
Getting placed in a core company from campus is rare sight unless you’re in the premier institutes. It’s not the case with Amity. There are around 11 companies specifically recruiting civil engineering graduates.
While there are some civil department-specific placements in AIT, students mostly get placed in IT and Software companies.
The Average package at AIT is around 7 LPA, it’s around 4.5 LPA at Amity, considering 1700 placed students and 525 recruiters for that year, and those are some good placement stats.
Few core companies that recruit from Amity are Eleation, ZTE, Gemalto, etc.
Amity also has a Departmental Research cell concentrating on various aspects of civil engineering and its recent advances.
So, if one is choosing between AIT and Amity, it’s a clear choice that going with Amity would result in better opportunities and Core company placements. The presence of a research cell facility is always a welcome addition for students looking for higher studies after B. Tech.
