IET Lucknow is a state government engineering institution in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It is a separate college under Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. I have a few friends from the institute and they were able to provide some information regarding the admission process.
For more details regarding the admission process, check the official website.
The Sports facilities available at IET Lucknow are not so good. There is no sports teacher available to help out students. Your seniors can help you out if they are good at Basketball.
There are only two basketball courts situated on the college campus. One of them is in the Boys Hostel of first-year students and the other one is in Shauryautasava ground.
No sports events are held at the institute except the ones during sports meet at Annual Fest. You will get involved in sports activities but only for a few days. Interested students do not get enough time for sports practice.
You can find male students almost all the time at the court but the female students visit it occasionally. You would surely be not satisfied with the sports facilities available at the institution. The authorities do make some effort to improve the sports facilities of the institution during Sports fests but there is still a long way to go.
Yes, there is a huge playground inside the college campus. However, there is no original provision of maintenance of the field, leading the condition to deteriorate day by day. But, interested students still go on to play sports.
Anyone can anytime on the ground. Particularly, there is no form of restrictions applied to playing sports on the ground, but it depends upon how a student manages both their classes and other similar activities while still finding time to go to the field.
The ground still acquires a better form during the initiation of the annual fest, also known as, Shauryotsava. Hope this clears your doubt.
My brother is an alumnus of IET Lucknow and here is his input about the branch change policy. It entirely depends on a variety of criteria, including your first-year grades, seat availability, and, most significantly, your terms with the administrative wing.
I'd like to emphasize what I'm trying to communicate.
By the way, each college has its set of rules for branch changes, but the majority of colleges follow the methods outlined above when dealing with branch changes.
The tuition fees for the 1st year would be Rs. 70,000, extra charges, Wi-Fi, and hostel maintenance would be Rs. 15000 and mess per semester would be Rs. 17,500. The mess fees are refundable.
You can also apply for scholarships if you belong to a certain category. You are supposed to pay the fees in a demand draft format or cash at the time of registration. Card payments are also allowed. You are required to pay Rs. 89775 as academic fees for the year and hostel and mess advice of Rs. 14000 per semester.
For more details, you can contact the admission department of the college.
My friend is an alumnus of IET Lucknow and according to him, with a rank of 5915, it will be hard to get Chemical Engineering. In his year, only a few general category students received Chemical in the fifth round with a general rank greater than 6k.
However, because the scenario changes every year, there is no certainty that you will get it. Also, given HBTI's split from UPSEE, getting into IET with this rank appears to be extremely difficult. It's all a matter of luck.
According to the cutoff trends in recent years, the required cutoff for the Chemical branch is 2856 for General Category.
IET Lucknow is among the top-rated government institutes in the country and it is being affiliated with Dr. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).
Ramaiah Institute of Technology (RIT) formerly known as M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology is an Autonomous Private Engineering Institute located in Bangalore affiliated to VTU.
The fee structure of both of the colleges is as follows.
Institute | Total fees |
IET Lucknow | INR 3.44 LPA |
RTI | INR 3.20 LPA |
The facilities offered at both institutes are different. The student can explore themselves better at RTI due to its location. Bangalore will offer you much more placement opportunities than at Lucknow.
IET Lucknow is well-equipped with the necessary infrastructure and facilities. According to my friends from the institute, it has an on-campus canteen for the students and the members of the institute. The canteen is located on the left side of Tiger Chauraha as soon as you enter the gate. The food quality is decent. The canteen serves snacks, cold drinks, maggie, patties, samosa, tea, and biscuits.
It is not the only canteen in IET Lucknow. You will find a canteen in your hostel too. The best part about the hostel canteen is that it stays open till 3 AM at midnight. But at night, there are limited snack items like omelets, maggie, tea, and biscuits.
My brother is an alumnus of IET Lucknow. According to him, with this rank, you have a high chance of making it into IET Lucknow. In terms of the branch, you can definitely bag seats in the Electronics & Instrumentation (EI) branch. Apart from these branches, you can get seats in the Chemical Engineering (CH) branch, and with this rank, you also have big chances of making it into the Civil branch.
In the earlier rounds, these stats may not have been possible to come by but it is an approximate representation of the scenario after the fourth round of counseling is concluded. So, it’s better if you prepare accordingly.
IET Lucknow has average teachers basically in all branches. However, there are some teachers who are very good and are respected and wanted by everyone in the institute. Prof. Manish Gaur is one of them. Every student wants to attend his classes at least once. He is considered as the ray of hope in IET Lucknow.
Apart from teaching, he is also known for guiding students in their undergraduate thesis work. He helps them with research-related work and queries. His level of interaction is often compared to the faculties of premium institutes like the IIT’s and the IIM’s which is not a regular scene in a state government college.
Prof. Manish Gaur is also a part of the training and placement cell of IET Lucknow. He will help you and guide you the right way during placements and also in academics.
