What is the true average placement package in MDI Gurgaon?

RD
Renato Diago Posted On : February 21st, 2023
MSc Finance, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (2019)

You should actually stop focusing so much on just average placements. My friend is a pass out of MDI Gurgaon and he says your admission to MDI is more than enough to grant you a high-paying job. So rest assured about that part and focus on what the program is teaching and gain as much knowledge as possible. Some highlights from the glittering life at MDI Gurgaon are

  • You meet students from versatile backgrounds and cultures that add to the overall learning experience.
  • The curriculum is so rigorous that it prepares you for the worse situations
  • The initial months are pretty strenuous and you might find it hard to get a proper sleep
  • The much-needed exposure to the corporate world is brought in by industry experts who conduct guest lectures that are very enlightening and interactive.
  • Additional exposure is sought through corporate talks, live projects, and tech fests.
  • The curriculum is designed in such a way that every student acquires the analytical skills to question and fulfills all the requirements of the corporate world.
  • The course structure is updated regularly to cope with the ever-changing external requirements
  • The B Schools have an elaborate lush green campus and enjoy easy access through Metro.

All these aspects are as important as placements so considering only average placements is not enough to judge a certain college. Change your primary focus from placements to learning. Being a top 10 school, I am sure MDI Gurgaon won’t disappoint you.

Which college is better for an MBA in Marketing - JBIMS, SP JAIN or MDI Gurgaon in all various aspects and I have converted all three?

SC
Sathwik Chandra Posted On : February 21st, 2023
MBA in Master of Business Administration Degrees, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (Graduated 2017)

My personal preference is MDI Gurgaon among all the colleges you have mentioned. This institute excels in many aspects when compared to other B Schools.

Placements: Placements at MDI Gurgaon are much better than JBIMS and SP Jain. The table below has proven the same through statistics.

Particulars

SP Jain

JBIMS

MDI Gurgaon

Number of Recruiters

75

68

87

Highest CTC

INR 53.16 LPA

INR 42 LPA

INR 1.14 CPA

Average CTC

INR 32.06 LPA

INR 27.63 LPA

INR 26.65 LPA

Top Recruiters

Accenture, Aditya Birla Capital, Amazon, American Express

Accenture, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, PwC, Infosys

Microsoft, Google, HCL, Adobe

Faculty: Without any doubt, MDI Gurgaon has the best faculty in the whole of India. It comprises the most learned personalities in the industry. It has around 80 nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty.

Corporate talks: Owing to its location in a metro city, MDI has a lot of corporate talks that are way ahead of normal guest lectures and add to the overall experience of the students. You may even find MD/CXO level folks from Deloitte/ColPal visiting and giving Corporate talks.

Clubs: MDI runs its own Mutual Fund Unnati where students get to learn the tactics of investing in stocks. Illumina is a rural marketing research concept where students get to learn consumer behavior first hand.

Exchange Program: The highlight of MDI Gurgaon is its exchange program is the best in the country. MDI has partnered with several foreign countries and students have to choose from them. MDI’s PGPIM program gives you a dual degree with 1 year in MDI and 1 year with ESCP Europe among various other options. Students completed their internships in European countries and secured International Job offers and settled abroad after this program.

All these major factors are more than enough to convince you against joining other B Schools if you have converted MDI Gurgaon. I have seen many students forgoing offers even from IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore just for MDI Gurgaon.

How much percentile is required for admission in MDI, JBIMS or FMS?

AM
Anisha Mukhija Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Studied at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

My answer does mention the required percentile for each of the B Schools you mentioned. But before I proceed I would like to shed light on the fact that the CAT percentile is not the only factor that determines your admission into a B School. There are other factors you need to work on like academic background, work experience, and GD-PI.

MDI

The college offers PGDM admissions on the basis of CAT and GMAT scores. The expected CAT percentile is around 93-95 and the GMAT score is 680+.

Apart from this, the candidates are expected to have above average academic records, work experience and WAT.

JBIMS

The institute accepts CAT, MH-CET, and GMAT. The percentile cutoff for the General Category

CAT: 95

MH-CET: 99.97

GMAT is accepted only for NRIs.

FMS Delhi

This institute is well known for its extremely low fees and the null weightage given to past academics. Thus admissions are based on the CAT percentile for which the cutoff is very high and GD-PI. The CAT percentile can be around 98.3

It is important to note that CAT should not be the only factor to consider while preparing for admission. Interview and GD rounds should also be given equal importance in addition to work experience.

Of the 2 options, I will recommend you to go for JBIMS Mumbai. I have various reasons to support my opinion. The most important ones have been listed below

Quality of education: Owing to its location, JBIMS attracts many eminent faculty from the industry to the campus apart from the general guest lectures. Some of these big names include

  • Prof. Moradian: Esse Group - Boman Moradian
  • Prof. Shivanand & Kedar Mankekar
  • Prof. Sandeep Gokhale: Appointed at JSW Aluminium
  • Prof. Ghadiyar: Nitin Ghadiyar: Executive Profile & Biography

Placements: The quality of placements at JBIMS is excellent with many big firms visiting the campus. Some of the big names in respective domains are

  • Finance: Citi, Stan C, HSBC, JPMC, all Indian banks, IB roles
  • Marketing: HUL, P&G, PepsiCo, Marico, ColPal, Dabur, HCCB
  • Consulting: Mckinsey, BCG, EnY, Cognizant Business Consulting, Infosys Consulting

Industrial Touch: With its splendid location, JBIMS enjoys strong interference with industries. These industries give live projects to the students that provide top-notch learning opportunities. The campus is within walking distance from big shots like HDFC, HUL office, ICICI, BCG, and McKinsey.

Competitions: The students at JBIMS have made their names by participating in National Competitions like HUL LIME, P&G Dream Team, JP Morgan - The Deal, Nomura Investment Banking Case Study Contest, and PepsiCo BIAC.

Alumni base: JBIMS has an elaborate alumni base and has been nicknamed the CEO factory owing to the huge number of CEOs it has given birth to. Some of the most famous ones are

  • Noshir Kaka - MD, Mckinsey India

JBIMS is in the vicinity of Marine drive and other places of socialization. The hostel is just five minutes away. Overall the campus and the institute, in general, seem promising and you won’t regret your decision of joining it.

Which one is better, MDI (IM) or IIM Raipur?

PT
Pragya Tripathi Posted On : February 6th, 2023
MBA from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (Graduated 2022)

When considering whether to attend IIM Raipur or Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of both institutions. Below are some key parameters to consider:

  • Return on Investment (ROI): IIM Raipur fares better in terms of ROI as the fee difference is at least 10 lakhs or more. Additionally, given the current uncertain scenario, it is important to consider how things may unfold in the future.
  • Location: Gurgaon has the advantage of hosting corporate offices of many multinational companies (MNCs). MDI also has a strong brand reputation, which can attract more companies to campus offering diverse roles. To gain specific insights into the Post Graduate Program in International Management (PGP-IM), it is recommended to reach out to alumni and current students.
  • Placement: Placement is a crucial deciding factor in selecting a business school. The average package offered during MDI Gurgaon placements 2022 is INR 26.2 LPA. In the placement drive of 2022, the highest CTC stood at INR 42.15 LPA, which was offered by IT/ITES companies and the average CTC stood at INR 17.73 LPA, whereas the median CTC stood at INR 16.95 LPA.
  • Campus Life: IIM Raipur boasts of a glamorous campus with lavish infrastructure and amenities. MDI also has a decent campus life. Both institutes are considered to be on par in this aspect.
  • B-School Competitions: MDI is considered to be one of the top 10 business schools in India and therefore students have ample opportunities to participate in corporate competitions. On the other hand, newer IIMs may lag in this aspect.
  • Alumni Base: MDI is an established business school and has a rich alumni network. It has produced some prominent personalities and corporate leaders. IIM Raipur, on the other hand, is in its 12th year since its inception and is not yet close to the alumni network of MDI.

In conclusion, if you were in this situation, it is suggested to go with IIM Raipur with an aim to remaining in the top 10% of the class. It is also recommended to consider all the factors and make the decision that best aligns with your goals and priorities.

How difficult is it to get a loan for IMT Ghaziabad, MDI, IMI Delhi, or TAPMI?

SP
Sanat Puri Posted On : January 27th, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Information Technology, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2020

IMT Ghaziabad offers financial assistance through various Educational loans. Many Nationalized banks have decent loan schemes for students of such prestigious B Schools.

One such Central Government scheme is the Vidhyadhanush wherein, students from IMT, MDI, IMI, Depts of IITs, and other elite B Schools are offered unsecured education loans with interest rates as low as 8.3-8.5. The maximum loan amount one can get is around 20 Lakhs. You can compare the schemes of different banks on the basis of interest rates, eligibility of your B Schools, and collateral schemes. It’s best to avail of the Central Government scheme to get the advantage of zero interest rate till the moratorium period. You can save as much as 1.5 Lakhs through this scheme.

The procedure to secure an education loan is very simple and quick. All one needs to do is study and compare various schemes and choose the best for themselves. Right after induction, many branches of banks put forward their loan schemes in front of the batches.

Which is better among SJMSOM, IIM Shillong, and MDI Gurgaon for a GEM fresher?

AA
Anamica Agarwal Posted On : January 21st, 2023
Former Student at Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (2019–2021)

When considering which business school to attend, it's important to weigh your options carefully and choose the one that best aligns with your personal and professional goals. Here is a summary of three business schools and some key factors to consider when making your decision:

  • SJMSOM: Established in 1995, this business school has a relatively small batch size of 110 students, which means less competition for placements in good companies. The average salary package is around INR 25 lakh per year, although this may vary depending on various factors. SJMSOM has the best return on investment (ROI) compared to the other two schools. It also has the advantage of being located in Powai and being affiliated with IIT Bombay. If you have strong skills in math and statistics, this might be a good option for you.
  • MDI Gurgaon: Established in 1973, this is a well-respected private business school that attracts a wide range of major and marquee firms for campus recruitment. However, the competition for placements is tough due to the large batch size. The fees for this program are around INR 21.4 lakh per year, and the average salary package is around INR 23 lakh per year. One advantage of this business school is its location.
  • IIM Shillong: Established in 2008, this business school has a batch size that is smaller than MDI but larger than SJSOM. The fees are lower than those of MDI, at around INR 19 lakh per year. While top consulting firms have started hiring from IIM Shillong, the location may be a disadvantage for some candidates.

What is better, MDI for PGP-IM or IIM Ranchi?

VY
Vipin Yadav Posted On : January 19th, 2023
Studied Economics

Deciding which college to attend for an MBA can be a difficult decision due to the high cost of tuition and the potential impact on future career prospects. MDI PGP-IM is a specialized program, while IIM Ranchi's PGDM program is a general management program with the option to choose a specialization in the second year. This may limit the scope of the MDI program. Additionally, the PGP-IM program at MDI requires 3 years of work experience, while IIM Ranchi does not have this requirement. While MDI may have the advantage of a strong brand name and proximity to the business hub in Delhi NCR, it is important to consider how much value this adds to the PGP-IM program.

IIM Ranchi has its own set of limitations, such as a temporary campus, but the institute has a strong reputation and a history of good placements. The hostels at IIM Ranchi are also some of the best in the country, offering individual rooms rather than shared accommodations. It is worth noting that some students do transfer from MDI PGP-IM to IIM Ranchi, although it is less common for students to go in the opposite direction. Ultimately, the best college for you will depend on your individual preferences and priorities.

I need help building my future between MDI Gurgaon, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Rohtak. Which college should I choose for my Postgraduate Management Program?

RA
Rahul Arora Posted On : January 18th, 2023
Lives in Greater Noida

MDI Gurgaon does, however, provide the best opportunity of the three. Because IIM A serves as its mentor, IIM Udaipur benefits from excellent pedagogy.

An IIM designation is a tasty differentiator, but most corporations do not differentiate in MBA programs except ABC.

MDI provides the best placements of the three. And, as an MBA graduate, you're all about the numbers. No college can guarantee you the job you want. However, at MDI, you will have plenty of opportunities in the field of your choice. You'll also benefit from good industry relationships built over years of goodwill. Even during downturns, some companies attend MDI on a regular basis. New IIMs have several years to build self-sustaining industry goodwill. Placements are thus unpredictable.

Nonetheless, if the IIM designation is a general requirement. The location is the new IIMs. However, you must work equally hard because that title alone does not guarantee a successful career.

Which one should I choose, MDI or IIM Lucknow, Noida campus?

If you want to pursue an MBA in Sustainability Management, you should only visit the IIM Lucknow, Noida Campus (SM). Otherwise, instead of pursuing a specialization in SM, pursue an MBA at MDI Gurgaon, which will provide you with better and more diverse opportunities.

IIM L, Noida Campus, for your information, offers a two-year PGP in Sustainability Management.

The main PGP (MBA) course is only available at the IIM Lucknow campus. So don't be perplexed. IIM Lucknow's Noida Campus is not the same as IIM Indore's (Mumbai Campus).

Executive MBA, Working Manager Program, Management Development Program and other courses are available at IIM L (Noida Campus).
