Programming is a field anyone can opt for provided they have the skills and the knowledge. Irrespective of the branch, engineering students are exposed to programming to a certain extent and thus have the skills for an IT job. Non-cs students can get jobs in top companies like Google, Amazon Microsoft, etc. if they are well-versed with algorithms. Even average students get placed in the IT department of companies like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra, Tower Research, Shopclues, Delhivery, Jabong, and many other good startups like Grabhouse and Flatfurnish, etc.
So whether you can join it or not depends on whether you are interested in it and can pursue it long term as your career. If you don’t have a genuine interest the field may tire you out after a while and even the money you make won’t satisfy you. If you think you won’t be able to join because you lack the skills then rest assured, that is certainly not the case. IT Companies hire IITians for sure based on analytical skills only.
Hope this helps you!
First of all, congratulations for aiming to pursue your B.Tech from NSUT Delhi. It is a top Engineering institution. However, it is a bit difficult to get into NSUT Delhi. It has an 85% reservation for Delhi NCT candidates. So if you haven’t completed your +2 from Delhi, getting in may get tougher.
You can check the JEE Mains 2023 cutoffs for admission into NSUT Delhi.
The cutoffs differ for OS and HS candidates, and also for candidates from different categories. Some seats are also reserved for female candidates.
The cutoffs vary according to the branch. I would recommend you check this year’s cutoffs and prepare hard accordingly.
Whether the choice is wise or not depends upon your personal interests. ECE is a better choice if electronics interests you. IT would prove better if you are into coding, technology, and computers, and wish to work in this field.
During 2022 B.Tech placements, the overall median package at NSUT Delhi stood at INR 16 LPA. The ECE branch has access to almost all the tech companies during NSUT Delhi placements. Whereas, IT students can’t sit for core companies. However, some top coding companies do not allow other branches except COE and IT to sit for their placements.
Like any other college, tech companies visit NSUT Delhi in greater numbers. But ECE students learn coding and are easily placed in brands like Facebook, Google, etc. The highest and average packages for IT are better than those for ECE. However, the ECE also has a greater number of students.
Right now, I would suggest you focus more on your interests than the placements. This is because, with an interest in your field, you will surely land a good job. Your dedication and commitment will play a greater role than your branch in deciding your future.
I won’t recommend you choose a dual program from BITS. For CSE, I would highly recommend IIIT Delhi. It has great research opportunities. It does not have the same branch value as NSUT Delhi/ DTU, but its growth rate is high. It will soon become a brand like IIIT Hyderabad. Compared to the new IITs, IIITD has a locational advantage because it is situated in the national capital.
BITS dual is a decent choice, but only if you get a CS. It depends on your performance in the first year. The odds of getting a CS are less than 20% which is pretty low, and the cutoffs keep getting higher each year. As far as the ‘BITS’ tag is concerned, it's really not that important in reality.
For the new IITs, go only if you are getting a CS over there. Do not rely on branch change. Also, avoid going to those located in small/ secluded towns because then you won’t get a lot of exposure. Also, do consider the faculty and infrastructure if you plan to go to a new IIT. My order of preference for CSE is IIITD > NSUT Delhi/DTU > BITS Goa/Hyderabad > IIT.
Thus, for a CSE, I would suggest you to choose either IIITD or NSUT Delhi/DTU.
The process for filing an RTI for the rechecking of an exam paper at NSUT Delhi is as follows:
It's important to note that you must specify the reasons for seeking rechecking of the exam paper in your application. Also, it is advisable to keep a copy of the application and all the documents you submit.
Students are entitled to get a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheet under the RTI Act. The authorities may try to misuse some provisions of the act by refusing to give you the Xerox copy. But do not give up here!
Here are a few pros and cons of a BBA from NSUT Delhi-
PROS
CONS
I would say NSUT Delhi is a good choice for a BBA but if you get any DU college, go for it.
Yes, two-year droppers can apply for NSIT/DTU. NSIT and DTU take admission through JEE Mains. JEE doesn’t have any age restrictions or rules regarding drop years.
Students can attempt JEE six times, over the period of 3 years after their 12th. So, you will find students in NSIT and DTU, who took 2 drop years for their JEE preparation.
Here is a short review of each of the aforementioned colleges
Here is what you should prefer for individual branches

If you aren’t getting CSE at IIIT Delhi then consider CSD and CSAM branches of IIIT Delhi but only after considering the CSE of NSUT Delhi and DTU.
Here are some important things I learned from the campus placements at NSUT Delhi-
These experiences aren’t just limited to the placement season of NSUT Delhi, they are common for all the colleges/ universities.
NSUT Delhi is a better option for extracurriculars and IIITD is a better choice for a career in research. If you wish to go for an M.S. (Research), choose IIIT Delhi.
IIIT Delhi has a great faculty and curriculum. At NSUT Delhi, the faculty won’t teach you the intricacies of a subject as it will in IIITD. However, you won’t have much time to spare after all the assignments at IIIT Delhi. If you want to create stuff (for eg. an AI chatbot) or are into game designing, etc, NSUT Delhi will give you the free time needed for that. College life and clubs are all better at NSUT Delhi.
Here are the overall placement figures for both-

Based on your priorities, you can choose between IIITD and NSIT Delhi. If you are really passionate about your field and 100% sure about your career plans, IIITD is the place for you. Whereas, if you want to explore your interests and figure out your career path, NSUT Delhi will give you the required freedom and exposure for that.
