New Delhi: Woxsen University design students have made their contributions to the continuing "myUDAAN" project during their two-month summer internship at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad.

The students of Woxsen University helped with the designing of the ergonomic, battery-operated clip-on known as VGO. This is an external attachment with which a wheelchair can be converted as a secure electric three-wheeler.

According to the official statement, VGO has reportedly become one of the most significant technologies that improves both usefulness and mobility in the domain of motorised wheelchairs.

Due to its all-electric design and ability to be charged at special docking stations, this innovation also addresses the issue of environmental responsibility.

The ergonomically built and sufficiently small VGO equipped wheelchair enables users to travel through malls, airports, metros, etc. The VGO will soon launch after receiving the last of the finishing touches. The special characteristics of a wheelchair with VGO are

  • A powerful VLDC motor
  • Smart LFP battery
  • Easy to attach & detach
  • Geo-fencing and real time GPS tracking
  • Water resistant

Praising the students' contribution, Professor Santosh Kocherlakota, Assistant Professor- School of Arts and Design, said that by contributing to this mobility design project, Sidhartha Pathi and Sathwik Reddy from B.Des(Hons.) are genuinely helping the specially abled community, while also further justifying the value that design can add for the betterment of society.
